  • Welcome to Graeme Smith Allotment Plot Tours where you can enjoy the Highs and Lows of watching vegetables grow and harvest throughout the seasons in the UK. I have been allotment gardening in the uk for 2 years as a beginner and in today’s video I share a garden tour with all the developments in my vegetable garden.
I grow vegetables from seed or/and buy plants from local garden centres and plant them in my two allotment plots which are based in the Warwickshire countryside in the UK.
Each week, I upload a tour of both allotment plots. Subscribe to enjoy and follow along!
Show the channel some support! Buy me a coffee

See below everything you need to know about my two allotment plots!
Here are the details of my full size allotment plot (11) which I have named ‘Greenachers’
How have I protected my Allotment Plot?
I have protected the allotment plot by erecting builders debris netting as a fence. This protects my garden from unwanted pests like Rabbits or Deer and also helps protect young plants from the wind.
How have I created my pathways?
On our allotment plot site we have access to free wood chipping. I have covered the pathways with wood chipping (often with cardboard underneath) to stop any weeds from coming through, Also, the wood chipping stops my feet from getting muddy, and absorbs some of the water.
How have I created my growing spaces?
This allotment suffers from water logging when it rains a lot! And, in the UK, it Rains a lot! To stop my plants from drowning and rotting, I have built raised beds. This has many benefits. Because the beds are raised using manure and organic matter. They do not get water logged. The beds are also smaller and defined, allowing me to not feel too overwhelmed with a large growing space. I have raised them double high for growing vegetables like carrots.
    Indoor Growing Spaces explained…
I have two poly tunnels which I erected myself, 4x3x2m which I usually use for growing tomatoes and cucumbers. I also have a 10ft by 8ft Greenhouse. The greenhouse is slabbed with a self lifting window.
Here are the details of my full size allotment plot (31a) which I have named ‘Oaklands’
How have I protected my Allotment Plot?
I have protected each growing space by erecting builders debris netting as a small fence.
This allotment does not suffer from water logging so the beds are flat and simply covered with manure before growing.
    Indoor Growing Spaces explained…
I do not have any indoor growing spaces at Oaklands, I do however have a shelter which was kindly built by my Dad, which is a great place to relax and look out over the plot.

I buy my seeds online at various shops. Here are a few of my favourites and why.
welldales.co.uk/ (use my code ‘wheregraemegrows’ for 20% discount) Welldales are a great supplier of seeds, never had any issues with germination, they offer free delivery and give you a fee pack of randoms seeds on purchase!
premierseedsdi... In my opinion, offer great value no nonsense seeds at really good prices.
www.realseeds.... are my new favourite seed company, I LOVE EVERYTHING about this company from the varieties to the packaging and the information they provide with the seeds.
www.amazon.co.... I buy my chilli and pepper seeds from here. I have grown these seeds for two years with great germination success.

It’s great to finally start seeing thing growing now and will be a great season by the looks of it. If you have small scissors clip the top of the carrot so your not disturbing the ones you want to keep growing. I don’t like rubber beans either and prefer French. My poor chard has been attacked by leaf miner so I’ll have to resow. Great update Graeme have a super week, Ali 🌧️🌧️🌥️🇨🇦

4 times!! Oh man that’s soul destroying. It’s weird with carrots, sand in the soil appears to have helped loads, that’s the only thing I can think of that I’ve done differently. Previous years have failed same as you
