All hate would destroy society. The camera represents what life could be like with no hate/discrimination in the world. I still can’t see this without crying and I’ve seen it over 100 times! V is my bias and his acting is brilliant as usual as well as his visuals. IU’s voice is stunning and the video is brilliant. Here is some extra info about the music video... Director Um Tae Hwa released a guide explaining the MV and gave 4 Key points. First, the "cube" signified the discrimination and oppression that are prevalent in the daily lives of the main characters. Second, the "camcorder" represents the "lens of love," an important "device" that allows us to look at the beautiful things in the world beyond the internal or external appearance of the characters. Third, IU and BTS V became the main characters in a "survival story of a dystopian worldview of someone who cannot speak and sees the world only through his left eye." Despite the difficulty, feeling hurt and exhausted, they relied on each other despite "cube" and tried to overcome it in the end. Fourth and last, the "wedding dress and tuxedo" symbolize the "fruit of love." Loved this and thought they have done a great job selling this story, I've cried at least 10 times watching this and I'm not normally a crier at all. IU has done several things with BTS members, especially Suga - they have collaborated on a song and each has been a guest on the other's talk shows Palette and Suchwita. They all seem to be good friends. I heard a theory that the cube and the haters could also be the comments and expectations that idols and celebrities are supposed to live up to where the media and some fans slam them for any little flaw as they are expected to be perfect. It reminded me of a clip I saw once where V introduced a pimple on his face to the camera and told everyone to give it much love as it would probably be visiting for about a week....lol

I watched the MV and behind the scenes right before coming to your reaction... I'm not okay, even through your reaction I'm like 😭It was done so well, the acting is on point, the angelic voice is incredible, and the lyrics are so good. I've had feels before but this one takes the cake, probably one of the rare songs that I couldn't listen to live without being a mess. That's just how great that was. And definitely do the killing voice, I think no words are needed to explain why you'll like it.

IU decided to start 2024 by breaking the collective hearts of the kpop world. I have yet to see anyone get through this video without being affected. A much needed and beautifully told message but I am with you, after this, I am probably not going to watch it again. IU and BTS both have quite the catalogue of songs that will make you cry but always with an important message behind it. But I promise they also have so many song that will put a smile on your face too.

Well, I ugly cry when I watch this. This is how the video speaks to ME (not saying this is the right take, but how I take it), it represents my view of aging with a partner, knowing that someday death will come for you. You cannot run or hide from it. My dad toward the end of his life was blind. My mom had a massive stroke & couldn't speak. As you age together you still "see' your partner as they were when you were young. I look at myself in the mirror & get startled sometimes!! I forget I am 51 years old!! When I see pics of my husband & I, it is like seeing strangers lol! Taehyung & IU using the video camera is like when I revisit my wedding album pictures from almost 30 years ago!!

The director commented on a few things - as you noticed she is deaf and mute, and he is half blind. Her lip piercing is supposed to indicate that she can't speak/communicate well with the world. He said that the cubes represent discrimination or oppression that we experience in our daily lives, and that the camera lens represents the love they have for each other - so through love despite the world crumbling around them they see only the best in each other. The masked people represent a society that didn't accept them due to their disabilities (which could also be just anything about a person that doesn't conform to social norms), but we see how together they were so happy and in love that nothing else mattered. The camera scene at the end with them ascending represents them finally escaping all the difficulties and struggle of this world - together until the end and it hit me how the camera (their love) battery dies just as the cube vaporizes them. The director said that the clothing falling was kind of meant to make us ponder what a person is - are they just the form we see from the outside or the intangible stuff on the inside - their hopes, dreams, efforts, ambitions, love? Super deep stuff.

In 2023, around 12 Korean artists has died. Most of them committed suicide. Few of them were friends of IU and V. Lee Sun-Kyun was one of them. He played the rich dad in the oscar winning movie "Parasite" and he also starred with IU in the series "My Mister". He committed suicide on December 27 using a charcoal brick poisoning himself with Carbon monoxide. He was innocent and wronged by the government and the media. His career was destroyed overnight. The society killed him. And, I think this is IU's response to the recent tragedies. In my opinion, the cube here represents prejudice, conservative beliefs, stereotypes, the people who don't want to think outside the box. IU is mute which could represent the voice of the artist being drowned out by the noise of the media. And, V is blind in the right eye which could represent the distortion of truth by the media due to which fans can't understand the truth. The world through camcorder might represent the life of artists perceived by the world vs the actual life. All the glitter's not gold. Or, it could also be showing how the artist was treated by the society despite her trying to lead a happy life and do her best with love. The faceless people pointing, criticizing, jeering at them could be representing being bullied by the society which left the artist bruised and battered in the present. In the end, IU covering V's good eye could also be representing her trying to protect the innocence of her fans. People should understand how much power their words contain. Your words can both give and take life. Be kind, let love win.

Loved this and thought they have done a great job selling this story, I've cried at least 10 times watching this and I'm not normally a crier at all. IU has done several things with BTS members, especially Suga - they have collaborated on a song and each has been a guest on the other's talk shows Palette and Suchwita. They all seem to be good friends. I heard a theory that the cube and the haters could also be the comments and expectations that idols and celebrities are supposed to live up to where the media and some fans slam them for any little flaw as they are expected to be perfect. It reminded me of a clip I saw once where V introduced a pimple on his face to the camera and told everyone to give it much love as it would probably be visiting for about a week....lol

I watched the MV and behind the scenes right before coming to your reaction... I'm not okay, even through your reaction I'm like 😭It was done so well, the acting is on point, the angelic voice is incredible, and the lyrics are so good. I've had feels before but this one takes the cake, probably one of the rare songs that I couldn't listen to live without being a mess. That's just how great that was. And definitely do the killing voice, I think no words are needed to explain why you'll like it.

IU decided to start 2024 by breaking the collective hearts of the kpop world. I have yet to see anyone get through this video without being affected. A much needed and beautifully told message but I am with you, after this, I am probably not going to watch it again. IU and BTS both have quite the catalogue of songs that will make you cry but always with an important message behind it. But I promise they also have so many song that will put a smile on your face too.

Well, I ugly cry when I watch this. This is how the video speaks to ME (not saying this is the right take, but how I take it), it represents my view of aging with a partner, knowing that someday death will come for you. You cannot run or hide from it. My dad toward the end of his life was blind. My mom had a massive stroke & couldn't speak. As you age together you still "see' your partner as they were when you were young. I look at myself in the mirror & get startled sometimes!! I forget I am 51 years old!! When I see pics of my husband & I, it is like seeing strangers lol! Taehyung & IU using the video camera is like when I revisit my wedding album pictures from almost 30 years ago!!

On the third watch of this video I noticed all of the pieces of clothing hanging from the trees and on the forest floor as they are running thru the forest. At the end you realize how many people have met the same fate which makes it even more sad...

The director commented on a few things - as you noticed she is deaf and mute, and he is half blind. Her lip piercing is supposed to indicate that she can't speak/communicate well with the world. He said that the cubes represent discrimination or oppression that we experience in our daily lives, and that the camera lens represents the love they have for each other - so through love despite the world crumbling around them they see only the best in each other. The masked people represent a society that didn't accept them due to their disabilities (which could also be just anything about a person that doesn't conform to social norms), but we see how together they were so happy and in love that nothing else mattered. The camera scene at the end with them ascending represents them finally escaping all the difficulties and struggle of this world - together until the end and it hit me how the camera (their love) battery dies just as the cube vaporizes them. The director said that the clothing falling was kind of meant to make us ponder what a person is - are they just the form we see from the outside or the intangible stuff on the inside - their hopes, dreams, efforts, ambitions, love? Super deep stuff.

In 2023, around 12 Korean artists has died. Most of them committed suicide. Few of them were friends of IU and V. Lee Sun-Kyun was one of them. He played the rich dad in the oscar winning movie "Parasite" and he also starred with IU in the series "My Mister". He committed suicide on December 27 using a charcoal brick poisoning himself with Carbon monoxide. He was innocent and wronged by the government and the media. His career was destroyed overnight. The society killed him.
And, I think this is IU's response to the recent tragedies.
In my opinion, the cube here represents prejudice, conservative beliefs, stereotypes, the people who don't want to think outside the box.
IU is mute which could represent the voice of the artist being drowned out by the noise of the media.
And, V is blind in the right eye which could represent the distortion of truth by the media due to which fans can't understand the truth.
The world through camcorder might represent the life of artists perceived by the world vs the actual life. All the glitter's not gold.
Or, it could also be showing how the artist was treated by the society despite her trying to lead a happy life and do her best with love. The faceless people pointing, criticizing, jeering at them could be representing being bullied by the society which left the artist bruised and battered in the present.
In the end, IU covering V's good eye could also be representing her trying to protect the innocence of her fans.
People should understand how much power their words contain.

The world within the camera wasn't that great either, if you look carefully. This MV is a commentary more about the present than the future.
Yes it mostly seemed to change the two of them. That's why my interpretation was that it's about being there for each other and being each other's escape from the world. But like I said great art can have many interpretations so I'm definitely interested in what others think!
