Lyra-8 - Study 6 (Delia's Dance)

- The Hyper LFO can be used to coax almost "sequencer-like" melodies from Lyra-8's voices. Through careful tuning of the voices and their modulation amount (or the amount that the "sequenced" voices modulate other voices) you can find surprisingly coherent harmonic relationships.
I'm constantly charmed by the Lyra's ability to invoke some kind of "alternative history" of electronic music - it's always so primitive and raw in the best possible way.
I added a little bit of reverb in post, in particular the free and excellent sounding KPlateD from @airwindows ( • Airwindows kPlateD: Fr... )., you should definitely check out the whole "KPlate" range of reverbs - they are very good.

That sounds fucking awful. Upvoted and subscribed.
That's the spirit!
This is pure madness ♥
Haha, WOW! I've not played enough with the modulation on my Lyra 8, clearly. I had no idea it could be this rhythmically versatile. Absolutely brilliant. The thing about Lyra is that it's impossible, looking at a picture of how all the knobs are set, to know even approximately what sound it's making. It's an instrument of unstable equilibria.
Thanks! Yes, you need to dig into the Hyper LFO and experiment with cross modding other voices with the LFO'd voice - I found so many interesting spots on the way to this patch.
And ain't that the truth about unstable equilibria - I came up with this patch waaaaay past my bedtime but had to stay up an extra half hour to capture it on video because I knew that I might never find it again!
This puts every other Lyra jam I’ve seen to complete shame.
That's very kind of you. It's certainly a different approach to the instrument than you often see, but it takes all sorts!
Word. Didn’t mean any disrespect to other jammers. This devices demands different approaches for sure. Yr just shredding it and I appreciate.
sounds like this is exactly why, when i reviewed it for my local shop, i wrote "Your bandmates will hate it. Fire them!"
now delia, what if all of this is just a reflection of a reflection?
Wow! Great stuff
Thanks!
The Lyra’s an acquired taste, but the more I see you mess with it the more I am acquiring it. Setting custom scales with microtonality, and all the expression is definitely interesting. I don’t personally get along so much with instruments that lead the way, I always try to force them to do what I want. But I really respect the ability to let it guide you.
Endless variations of madness……. 🫠👏👏👏🎶
The one I just finished recording makes this seen like so much vanilla sanity!
Love it so much!
This Has Potential.
I wondered if you would get your hands on Lyra at some point. Short a sweet !
cool jam, Cortini would love it. Put some strega on that.
I almost bought a Strega when I was deciding whether to get the lyra-8 (the Landscape Noon was also in contention) - lyra-8 + Strega would be a potent combination! Both instruments where delay is an integral part of their vibes too. I'll get one, one day...
@@OscillatorSink I love the sound it makes. but I am put off by the alternative interface. all those piano lessons have made me a snob. that said I would like to try the 0 control. it looks fun.
Sometimes I am thankful for being a Very Poor Keyboardist (TM).
Miss Derbyshire would doubtless approve
I hope so, though I understand she had very particular tastes!
#jamu-may-ry 😁
absolutely disgusting
I try.
@@OscillatorSink In the best way of course
