    Thanks for this. I ended up contacting Finish Systems and was in the process of ordering a Bobcat system. As I explained my application to Chrissy, she let me know that I wasn’t getting the right thing for the job. She recommended the Cat-Xpress pressure feed HVLP for me. This took a $2500 sale and knocked it down to $550. I was on the phone with her for almost an hour. Great customer service, knowledgeable etc. I can’t wait to get everything setup!
    P.S. I let them know that I heard about them from your channel...

    Fantastic Review, thanks so much for taking the time to share this info. Very timely for me as I am looking to upgrade to AAA and gained a lot of knowledge here that would have taken me a while to understand on my own. Thanks!

      Hi, glad you found it helpful. It's been a great unit, no issues so far. The only thing I did was change the the 1/8" fluid hose to a 3/16 hose so I could run at a lower fluid pressure with less resistance. If you buy the CA Technologies unit with the Cougar gun, it comes with the 3/16" hose. Thanks. Scott

    Informative review Scott. Finish Systems is a top notch outfit. I may have missed it but, why did you change from your other system? Steve

      Hi Steve, thanks for the comment. Yes Finish Systems is a great company to deal with. I'm still using my original two Kremlin 10:14 units for clears, but as luck would have it, my sealer unit's air motor main seal took a dump during shipment of the CAT unit and became very unreliable, so I decide to try out the new unit with a clear. I like the new unit so much, I'm thinking of using one of my Kremlin units for colored precat lacquers instead once they are both rebuilt. The other thing as I mentioned in the video, Kremlin parts are quite a bit more in cost as I just got a taste of the pain, When its all said and done I will have a minimum of $440 stuck into both of my Kremlins for clears providing I don't have to replace a fluid piston or cylinder. All three of my Kremlin 10:14 pumps were bought used off of ebay, and the third one that I got for testing waterborne coatings was rebuilt to new condition before I got it. My main two show significant more signs of prior abuse, but I paid less for them as well. All in all I can't complain about sticking a few dollars in to them considering the condition. Thanks! Scott

    I have appreciated your though reviews!! Right now (I refinish kitchens with solvent lacquer and conversion varnish) I am looking at 2 cat pumps with the wagner 4700 air coat guns.
    Just wondering if you have had a chance to demo and compare the air coat with the Iwata gun. Would enjoy hearing your thoughts!! Call them for a demo....
    Thanks

      Yes, I am currently running the Wagner GM4700 Aircoat. I prefer the Wagner gun over my others hands down, the softest pattern and for me the least amount of overspray.

    Hey Scott, I’m just getting into spray finishes I’ve basically rebuilt everything on the bobcat, Jaguar, and AAA pump besides the air motor. Just when I think I’m golden something else pumps fear and anxiety into me this time I think it’s the air motor anyways I have studied your videos religiously and still can’t figure this out

      @TheWoodCraftsman  4 роки тому

      Depending on how many gallons it's pumped, it could be a time for an air motor rebuild.

    Awesome vid as always, question... can you spray those European coatings such milesi and renner( water base ) if so what is the pressure you use?...I'm looking to get one of those myself

    Scott, I appreciate your information and videos! I have a smaller wood shop and only make a couple of kitchen cabinets and handful and bathroom vanities a year. I have been using an Apollo hvlp turbine for spraying Sherwood Surfacer primer and their Kem Aqua water born lacquer paint. Would you recommend using the CA air assisted system for easier use?

      @TheWoodCraftsman  7 років тому +2

      +Jeff Reminga I think you would like it. CA Technologies B14 unit. They make a unit called an H20, which is the same, but has a larger pick up tube and a 3/16" fluid hose. Both units are H20 compatible. If I needed another unit, I would definitely buy another.
      If you don't mind, I would like to compare notes about you and your shop sometime. Thanks. Scott.

    I just bought me the same unit after watching your videos. I too am spraying sw precast laquer. What pressures are you running(atomizing and fluid)? Do you regulate inlet pressure? If so what is it set to? Great videos thanks you

    • @TheWoodCraftsman
      @TheWoodCraftsman  4 роки тому +1

      Hi, I was running around 50 psi (700) fluid and about 17-18 psi atomizing air. No need to regulate incoming air. I used a 411 tip, and sometimes a 515. Thanks! Scott

    Hey there Scott. Just started playing with my air assisted. I'm getting micro bubbles in all my conversation varnish coats. Tried every combo of psi or there. Any ideas on that?

    • @TheWoodCraftsman
      @TheWoodCraftsman  5 років тому +2

      Hmmm...what coating are you spraying? SW, Axalta, ML Cambell? Solvent or water? So typically micro bubbles come from air entrapment under the wet film that is flashing off to quick. This can be caused by a few different things such as to high of atomizing air, or possibly to fine or small of a tip. If the solvent base coating seems to be flashing off to quickly (skinning over), typically a tail solvent like M.A.K. ( methyl amyl keytone) will hold it open long enough to let any bubbles rise to the surface to break. One other area overlooked is the siphon or pick up tube that feeds the pump. If there is a slight air leak as the pump draws material in and compresses it, you will have air injected in the coating, kind of like a carbonated beverage. Check to make sure all fittings on the suction side of the pump are tight. If you want to take this conversation offline, go to my channel, click on the "about" tap and scroll down to the button that's says "for business inquiries" this will show my email, and send me an email. Hope this helps. Scott

      Hi, I use one of my older Kremlin Airmix 10:14 units that I rebuilt for spraying colored primers and lacquers. I use a 9.134 Kremlin tip (0.012"). Thanks. Scott

    What's the difference between the Cougar and Bobcat guns?

    • @TheWoodCraftsman
      @TheWoodCraftsman  5 років тому

      Hi, I believe the biggest difference is that the cougar model has a higher pressure rating to support their larger 20:1 model. And the only other thing is the gun body is shaped slightly different. The bobcat has a similar shape to the previous Kremlin MVX, and the cougar has a shape similar to the older Kremlin MX model. Thanks. Scott
