Truly a clean & classic design! Mr. Moll has the perfect combo of style and performance in his '67. Great scenery, too. What a perfect time & place for a quick cruise. Thanks, Lou!
Hi TheGunfighter45acp, Happy to read you enjoy the style & performance of this car :-) Glad to take you along for this scenic cruise. You're welcome, Lou
Lou what beauty! I remember my dad taking me to the Pontiac dealer on a Sunday afternoon to sneak a peak through the service bay door at the "new" Firebird. It was hidden in there as they had just received it and Pontiac wasn't allowing them on the showroom floors in anticipation of the big splash! It was a very big deal! Fond memories... It was and still is a very cool car.
The 1967 model year was the lightest year they were made, and also the only year to feature the front vent windows. The Firebird and the Camaro were both built on the same chassis. The 1968 eliminated the vent windows, added side marker lights, and the cars were slightly heavier than the previous year. This is a beautiful example featured.
The 1967 was 80 lbs lighter than the 1968. An odd marketing thing for 1967 Firebird 400 and 1967 Camaro 396 was the Firebird 400 was available with the standard 400 and the 400 Ram Air, but in 67 the 400 HO wasn't available in the Firebird. In the 1967 Camaro, the 325hp and 375hp 396 engines were available, but the 350hp 396 wasn't available in 67 Camaro. The 400 HO was available in the 67 GTO and the 350hp 396 was available in the 67 Chevelle. These restrictions were for 1967 only.
I can still remember when the Firebird was introduced. I was in 5th grade and already an absolute car nut. I liked the Firebird over the Camaro although I will admit in ‘69 they built the coolest Camaro.
Hi, Lou! This first Firebird was introduced in February 1967, five months after the Camaro. It came in a choice of five engines. The standard Firebird came with the standard overhead cam six, which was engineered by John DeLorean and released for the 1966 model year. The Firebird Sprint carried a more potent version of the OHC six. Then there was the 326 V-8, the hotter version of which gave you a Firebird HO, and finally the 400. Besides the differences with the marker lights and turn signals, the 1968 versions deleted the vent windows. John's car looks fabulous in Tyrol Blue and it definitely compensates for him missing out on the muscle car era! Many thanks to you and the King of the Road for another amazing car story and ride!
Hi iswc27, Thank you for sharing your knowledge and adding to the story. Glad to get you some blue smoke to match the color of this car :-) You're welcome, Lou
What a beautiful Firebird! Just love it! Definitely a magical era for Pontiac (and the whole industry tbh) in terms of performance and design. Thanks to John and Lou for bringing this to us!
Thanks Lou, for showing us this rare and beautiful car. I love the color. When I was in high school, one of my teachers bought a brand new red '67 Firebird 400 convertible. It raised his image in our minds. His previous car had also been a red Pontiac convertible, but it was a '61 LeMans with the four cylinder engine.
The Channel does indeed enjoy this blue car! Simple, clean lines, and checks all my boxes especially since this is a convertible! Thanks Lou & John for a warm morning winter treat!
I had a 1969 Firebird 400 stick in this color...Great machine. My buddy had a 1968 Firebird....Loved it... Wish they had been ragtops. Thanks Lou ! Happy Holidays !
Always nice to see a local guy's car featured. I had a 67 Firebird convertible, same blue but blue custom interior with power top and fold down rear seat, however it was a 326 with 2-speed auto. I started high school in 1970 so I too missed the opportunity to be an "original owner" to one of these cars. Also had a 69 Firebird carousel red convertible with parchment interior. Currently own a 74 Trans Am buccaneer red with white deluxe interior. Pontiacs are still my favorite car. Thanks to Lou and the owner for another great car story

Tymtravel 1911, the '67 Firebird HO had the 326 CID V8 engine. 1967 was the last year for that engine. '68 went to the 350 CID V8 engine or a 400 CID V8 engine.
@@sergeantmasson3669 I’ll defer to you. Thanks. Bought them both used. The 67 was a 400. Previous owner probably stuck the HO on. Didn’t matter to the tree I stupidly planted them on 3/26/72. Miss that one the most. Could have saved it if I knew then what I know now. $1450 at the dealer in ‘71 for a 4 year old 400 convertible seemed like a lot back then.
Hi Tymtravel 1911, Happy to read you enjoy this car & presentation. Sorry to read the end result of your 67. Glad this one re-ignited great memories :-) Lou
My neighbor who used to do paint and body for Pontiac brought 1 of these home in 68.He threw the keys to my dad & off we went.Pretty quick in it's day & it was the 326 dohc motor.Classic Lou,miss the ponchos
Another great video Lou. You don't see as many Firebirds compared to Camaros at car shows. My Uncle had looked at the 67s when they first came out but ended up buying a 67 GTO 400 4 speed convertible instead.
That deep knock was something to be attended to. Probably not a big deal but was hard to identify. This is one beautiful car in great shape. They would whip a GTO because they were lighter. A lot of street racers underestimated them until they got smoked!
I'm a Mopar guy, but I always get excited to see Pontiacs and Oldsmobiles. This version of the GM F-body has so much more style than the one from Chevrolet.
Lou, I did a full restoration on one of these cars as well but it's a 4-speed car. We found it in a Bar Harbor Maine garage. It was never registered and only did drag racing it's entire life with a 455 engine. Luckily, the previous owner still had the original 400 engine that was removed the day after the car was bought new. The car was/is dark green with a black interior with a black top. No A/C though. Today, the car is exactly as it was when new from the factory. The car has never seen snow and now only driven once in a while during warm weather months. Odd that this Firebird has a manual top. The one I restored, had a power top.

Nothing like the original, first year design of an iconic nameplate, the first model year is usually the cleanest and best looking and I believe this holds true with the Firebird. And the 400 ci and convertible top too! And gorgeous blue on blue! I'm very happy for this gentleman and thanks to Lou and he for nice vid.

Fabuloso este Pontiac Firebird convertible del 67. Ese color azul le queda fantástico. Además que estuvo espectacular esa quemada de llantas que hizo al acelerar al comienzo del vídeo, dejó una peculiar nube de humo, jaja. Saludos!
When I think “pony car” THIS is the car I see in my mind, not the Mustang! The most beautiful profile! These cars handled soooo well for their day, too. Cheers, Lou

I always thought the Firebird looked better than the Camaro, it had so much more style and character from nose to tail. This is a fine example, so pretty in blue and a drop top as a bonus!!! Very cool Firebird!!!
Hello Lou ! This car made me travel in time. Do you remember the Aurora HO tracks ? Well I remember several models that were absolutely beautiful, like this marvelous Pontiac. This is a dream car. Congratulations to his owner, I would love this Pontiac were mine, and thanks to you for those specials memories. It would be nice to see one of those Aurora raceway tracks with all that beautiful models of 60 s.
Hello Felipe, Yes, I remember the Aurora HO tracks. Happy to read this is s "dream car" for you :-) I agree, it would be fun to see a 1960's race track, Lou
Similar to mine, Regimental Red 400 auto, power top. My tach is sitting in a cardboard box, with me still psyching myself to bore a bloody great hole in the hood.
What an awesome treat! It does have a great blue metallic color, as well to it. Personally, i’ve always been a tremendous fan of the Pontiac’s first generation of Firebird models, especially during that particular time period. Although, i’ve never really been much of a convertible kind of guy, i really like this particular Firebird 67, mainly with it’s white vinyle top on. It does have a sporty look to it. Considering that this classic all time beauty has a 400 cubic inch motor under the hood, i can still recall, when General Motors use to built these cars, with a 350 standard engine, or even with a 396 optional.Thank! you so much, Lou! You’ve really surpassed yourself once again. Have yourself a Merry little Christmas and a very Happy New Year 2022. Johnny, Montréal, Canada 🇨🇦🎁🎅🙏👍💖😁

Nice, I always loved first gen Firebirds. I'd venture to say that car is worth alot of money now. Could have bought a '68 ht with a 400 in '77. Nice car. Little late night road test the owner had it skipping over the rough roads in our neighborhood. $1400. Would have nearly drained my savings. Passed. Heard less than a month later the rear end blew. Happy Holidays to you and yours, Lou !!!
Hi Chris, Well if it helps I videoed this one in September. I'm in Chillinois right now :-( Looking forward to getting back to sunny AZ soon! Merry Christmas, Lou
Thanks for that one Lou. It might not have been the early 2nd gen. T/A that ya missed out on at MCACN, but it was still not a bad substitute mate and as always another good video by you!
@@loucostabile I really look forward to that one mate... wish we had cars like that in Australia, but most people in this country wouldn't know a REAL Car if they were hit by one!!!
This is one of my favorite cars of all time. My younger brother liked the Camaro. I never wanted the Trans-Am version, perhaps because it is too big? This is among the best vehicles you have shown,😇 and I do not mind that it's only a two-door!
😎 1/18 model too that looks quite well detailed!!.. I'd 💕 to find a firebird kit to build.. plenty of Mustangs and Camaro kits and a few Cudas and Cougar kits but sadly not many Firebirds or Javelins..
Hey big bro Lou! First off, your hyper JV baseball little bro wants to know-are you a White Sox fan or a Cubs fan? lol ;) What a beautiful and classic Firebird-just so beautiful and bird-like and cool. Clean lines and so much character to that pointed hood. And that back seat? Ha! My floppy sneakers would fly off as my tubesocked stocking feet became airborne 'n kicked-so many chicks, so little time....:):) God bless you and John, big bro. Thanks Lou! :) JV Johnny
Hey JV Johnny, I haven't followed either Team for awhile as for the last 8 years totally dedicated to the cars. However I followed the Cubs in the 1970's & Sox in the 1980's. Also watched each Team when they made the playoffs / Championships. Happy to read you enjoy this car :-) Blessings receive. God bless you. You're welcome, Lou

So glad to hear you still have the baseball teams in your heart, even as you are bringing us these awesome and thorough car videos, man. Me? A good friend in high school had one identical. Smoke shows often👍👍👍
Ahhh those fun smoke shows....good times!
Hi Bruce H., Happy to read you enjoy this clean design :-) My pleasure sharing this one with you, and you're welcome, Lou
Awesome Lou. How I miss the Pontiacs!
Hi William, Happy to read you enjoy this "awesome" car :-) Good news! Many of those Pontiacs you miss can be seen right here on this UA-cam Channel, Lou
Fabuloso este Pontiac Firebird convertible del 67. Ese color azul le queda fantástico. Además que estuvo espectacular esa quemada de llantas que hizo al acelerar al comienzo del vídeo, dejó una peculiar nube de humo, jaja. Saludos!
Hi Jaime, High praise :-) You're welcome, Lou
Another beauty brought to us by Lou. Thank you Lou. This was enjoyable to watch as I had some homemade pancakes this morning.
Hi Sabba_Dabba, Pancakes & Pontiac. NICE! You're welcome, Lou
@@loucostabile lol, "pancakes and Pontiac", like coffee and cars, could be a new thing
When I think “pony car” THIS is the car I see in my mind, not the Mustang! The most beautiful profile! These cars handled soooo well for their day, too.
Cheers, Lou
Hi Cherry Picker Guitars, High praise on the profile of this car :-) Cheers, Lou
Cherry Picker Guitars, Mustang is where the "pony car" label came from, though. I've always referred to Firebirds as "water chickens."
@@sergeantmasson3669 you're right ,stang was 641/2,didn't the GTO actually come out before that?I was 7 but can still remember the hoopla behind the Mustang, almost as much as the C8 Corvette.
@@richardmorris7063 Actually, the '64 Lemans had a GTO package option. GTO didn't become its own model until '65.
@@sergeantmasson3669 thanks, good to know.My first car was a 67 Mustang 2+2 fastback.Only had a 6 banger but looked good.
Thank god, a man that drives his car. You must have loved that old school ride, Lou. Not a Viper but still a fun ride. Thanks, Lou for finding a true muscle car lover.
Hi Rich, The ride (and smoke show) was FUN! My pleasure sharing this Muscle Car Lover and his car with you. You're welcome, Lou
What a nice blue colour scheme, it matches up well with the top colour!
Happy to read you enjoy the colours on this car :-)
Love the color and the 400, beauty and power.
Hi John, Happy to read you enjoy this car :-) Lou
Good looking Firebird Lou!
Glad you enjoy the looks of this Firebird THROTTLE POWER :-)
Love that Pontiac nose and rims!!! Great car Lou.
Hi Dan, Happy to read the details you love on this car :-) Lou
All I'd say these were missing style wise was a little spoiler out back.
Hello to the Gilbert guy from STV. Beautiful Bird!!
:-)
I always thought the Firebird looked better than the Camaro, it had so much more style and character from nose to tail. This is a fine example, so pretty in blue and a drop top as a bonus!!! Very cool Firebird!!!
Hi Hobiemarty, Happy to read you enjoy the style and character of this car :-) My pleasure sharing this one with you, Lou
Beautiful car. Man that sounded like a rod knock.
Happy to read you enjoy the looks of this car. Seems that clears up as it warms up.
Beautiful 😍 Thanks Lou!
Hi motorTranz, Happy to read / see you enjoy the looks of this car :-) You're welcome, Lou
Nothin better than a nice tight Pontiac ! Another good reveal Lou . Keep it up 👍!
Hi Eric, My pleasure sharing this car with you :-) Appreciate the encouragement, Lou
Very nice, thanks Lou
Thank you Clark :-)
I've got a red 67 400 that I inherited from my grandparents. They bought it new in 67. Has a tach on the hood.
Hi dieselboy9996, Happy to read you have a cool car too! Cool that the car has been in your family since new, Lou
Similar to mine, Regimental Red 400 auto, power top.
My tach is sitting in a cardboard box, with me still psyching myself to bore a bloody great hole in the hood.
A gorgeous underrated ponycar like the Cougars and Jevelins...
Hi Thomas, Happy to read you enjoy the looks of this car :-) Lou
What a beautiful car incredible condition
High praise :-)
Beautiful car
Happy to read you enjoy the looks of this car :-)
I love that second gear rubber!!
Nice :-)
Hi Johnny, Happy to share this "treat" with you :-) Thank you for sharing the details you enjoy on this car. You're welcome. Merry Christmas & Happy New Year to you too, Lou
HI Glen, Happy to read you love the 1st Gen Firebirds :-) Happy Holidays, Lou
SWEEEEEEET BEAUTIFUL vehicle! Thanks!
Hi treesnmoguls, High praise :-) You're welcome, Lou
You could eat off that motor, impeccable, great video Lou Seasons Greetings

great car. I'm jealous of the weather. Nice !! till the next vid. Merry Christmas and a great New Year.
Hi Jason, Happy to read you enjoy this one. Regarding that Gen 2 @ MCACN.....stay tuned :-) Lou
@@loucostabile I really look forward to that one mate... wish we had cars like that in Australia, but most people in this country wouldn't know a REAL Car if they were hit by one!!!
Yeah, long ago I had a '67 326 HO. Same colour as the featured car. Maybe, probably the best car I ever had.
Hi Mr Repurpose, Happy to read this car brings back memories of your car :-) Thank you for viewing and sharing, Lou
Beautiful car. That is opportunity knocking :)
Nice :-)
😎 vintage Car And Driver mag!
:-)
If I could have only one muscle car, that would be the one.
Winner !
Current day or way back when, I'd cruise that bird in any town USA, from end to end. Then do it again. Every Saturday night.
The Saturday night cruiser :-) NICE!
This is one of my favorite cars of all time. My younger brother liked the Camaro. I never wanted the Trans-Am version, perhaps because it is too big? This is among the best vehicles you have shown,😇 and I do not mind that it's only a two-door!
Hi Jed, Happy to read this one is a favorite of yours AND you don't mind it's a 2 door! High praise! Lou
And a plus that the top goes down too!!
Nice :-)
That be fun to cruise with top down looks ands sounds great
Hi Larry, You're right it's fun to cruise with the top down :-) Glad you enjoy the sounds of this car, Lou
😎 1/18 model too that looks quite well detailed!!.. I'd 💕 to find a firebird kit to build.. plenty of Mustangs and Camaro kits and a few Cudas and Cougar kits but sadly not many Firebirds or Javelins..
Hi Thomas, The Firebird would be a fun one to build :-) Lou
nice metallic blue. wonferdal!
Happy to read you enjoy this car :-)
Hey big bro Lou! First off, your hyper JV baseball little bro wants to know-are you a White Sox fan or a Cubs fan? lol ;)
What a beautiful and classic Firebird-just so beautiful and bird-like and cool.
Awwww thanks for being an awesome big brother from another mother here on UA-cam, Lou. So glad to hear you still have the baseball teams in your heart, even as you are bringing us these awesome and thorough car videos, man. Me? A NYC boy but always had the Milwaukee Brewers as my big bro baseball heroes when I was growing up in the 70's and 80's. Robin Yount was my # 1 hero and I tried to play like him (not so much lol!), but since I look like him and wear my tubesocks pulled up high like him I did quite well in the chick department lol! Gotta keep it JV, Lou ;). :) JV Johnny 😁⚾
Did that baby burn rubber through 1st and 2nd ??.....WOW.
Just the way we like it :-)
Such a beautiful FIreBird. The real birds!! What was that awful ratlle when the engine was running with the hood up? It almost sounded like knocking, but i guess not.
Hi redeye2020, Happy to read you enjoy the looks of this car :-) Not sure what the rattle is, however seems to go away when it warmed up. Lou

I had one just like that I bought it used when I was young buck about 21 or 22 years old from from my older science teacher it was the same thing as this car you're showing but it was not a convertible and I only paid $400 for it and it looked every bit as good as that except it didn't have the rally rims that had the hubcaps it was an automatic on the floor but it was the big block 400 but the hood scoops and the vent windows that was one badass car amongst many others that I had that I didn't really realize what I had when I had them if I have them all back now sitting all in my backyard I probably be a millionaire anyways nice car

No motor for the convertible top? My '67 has one that's not working at the moment. I hope someday mine looks as good as yours. Great job!
Hi Street Dog, Happy to read you have a fun car too :-) Hope your motor for the top is working soon, Lou
Oh Yeah My sister bought her Fire bird when i was only 13 years old and she was in college
Nice :-)
looks like my Big sister Kelly's Car I think she had a 1968, fire bird . My question what is the Matter with the convertible top No electric switch or is it broke .? I still love the car

Wow, didn't like that knock on startup....better check his crank pulley...nice car tho.
Hi John, Seems it smoothed out as it warmed up, Lou
Can it get any better.
:-)
👍👍
Thank you Frank :-)
I wonder if the Hood Tach was an option in 67?
I would think so. Maybe a Viewer with knowledge can share.
Yes it was an option and was the “tall” variety, ‘68s tach were a little more squat.
That engine rattle sounded bad. Did the owner say what it was?
Hi Kyle, Seems it smoothed out as it warmed up, Lou
@@loucostabile Engine knock?
And the other difference 1967 had the vent windows 6th did not
Thank you for sharing.
Sounds like there's something wrong with the motor A Rod or a bearing or something my need to be rebuilt

not real 400, there needs to be a 3F code on id tag
