  • Closing in on a major city usually means paved roads. I had a thorough look at my map before leaving Oskar with a heartfelt thank you.
The way I took was rather scenic and not that hard at all.
The tricky part was the Växjö airfield and the adjacent gravel pit. I was not sure I could pass through there.
Well the morning turned into lunch, and the going was ok. Passed the Örsholm estate, they had a lot of horses out.
Later on I managed to find a soft track besides the busy road #30 for a while but I still had to endure the paved road a short stretch.
I set my sights on the airfield and could leave #30 after a while. I followed a soft trail through the woods until I came to the gravel pit. They had a small cottage for the management and I went there to ask permission to pass. To my delight I was granted that, and got some good advice as well.
It wasn't soon until I could sight the lake Helgasjön again. A dirt road took me towards the first suburb, and soon I was walking pavement again.
Google is my best friend, and when my legs asked for a rest, I found a bakery that was open - Munges. Coffee and cake(s) restored me, before leaving for the train station in Växjö. I arrived in the afternoon, and was able to catch a train back home. It was time to change gear, especially my Icebugs had to go in favor of my Hoka. All together it was a nice day. Walking means you approach the world slowly and have time to experience so much more. You live and you learn.
