*NEW* CandyShell Grip and Presidio Grip Compared: Which is Best for iPhone X?

Speck’s iconic CandyShell Grip case was recently relaunched and is in direct competition with Speck’s Presidio Grip case for iPhone X. How do they differ and which is a better choice for you?
Price
Winner: CandyShell Grip. The CandyShell Grip is $10 cheaper than the Presidio Grip-a noticeable difference!
Grip
Winner: CandyShell Grip. Both cases have a similar amount of rubbery grip from their grip lines, but the CandyShell Grip’s underlying glossy polycarbonate exterior gives it the grip edge over the Presidio Grip, which has a slightly slipperier matte polycarbonate finish. The difference is pretty minor, though.
Size:
Winner: CandyShell Grip. The CandyShell Grip is very slightly shorter and thinner than the Presidio Grip. It is not a super noticeable difference, however.
Design:
Winner: Presidio Grip. Ok, this one is highly subjective, but I personally like the look of the Presidio Grip’s curved grip lines and matte finish as opposed to the design of the CandyShell Grip. But that’s just my opinion.
Scratch Resistance
Winner: Presidio Grip. Scratching is less of a concern with the CandyShell Grip case, as opposed to the other cases in the CandyShell line, because the grip lines raise the glossy polycarbonate back off any flat surface and thus have a scratch limiting effect. However, in places where it does encounter scratch prone surfaces, that glossy CandyShell polycarbonate will scratch pretty easily. The matte finish on the Presidio cases is much more scratch resistant.
Drop Protection
Winner: Presidio Grip. With a stated drop protection height of 10 feet, the Presidio Grip easily bests the mere military drop protection level of the CandyShell Grip-a height of 4 ft.
Warranty
Winner: Presidio Grip. With a limited lifetime warranty, the Presidio Grip easily wins over the 1 year warranty of the CandyShell Grip.
So, overall, these are both great cases, but I think in the areas that really count: drop protection, warranty and scratch resistance, the extra $10 for Presidio Grip is definitely justified. Many thanks to the kind folks at Speck for sending me out these two sample cases to review.
