I agree that. Slaves and Masters is a good album and this song is one of the best. I hope that we see once again Ritchie and his Rainbow with Dio or Turner.
I've watched a ton of Purple and Rainbow vids. It just seems to me that Blackmore is happiest, and plays at his best, when JLT is singing. JLT is the only singer that Blacky still talks to.
@drewchasia Well, presumably, Blackmore still talks to his wife, Candice :). But, your point is well-taken and I agree with your observation that Blackmore seems happy (and therefore, plays great) playing with JLT. Too bad it doesn't make him happy enough to get back with JLT!
@midnighttilldawn I agree, it's their worst album. I can't believe Ritchie said it was the best reunion era album he participated on. 'Perfect Strangers' and 'The House Of Blue Light' are superior. Not because of Gillan singing, but because the lyrics, music and atmosphere is not about love, love and more love, like JLT ONLY sings about. Heartache, love, broken hearts etc.
Not bad album - to me -, Ritchie is fine, and He is the essence. Of course the "interestly moving" Turner is not Gillan - unfortunately - but only listening the music I can,t see him - fortunately.
@simonsblackmore Maybe so, but I don't understand how those individuals "can stand" DP without Blackmore. To me, it's not DP without Blackmore. I like Slaves & Masters, too.
turner is a fucking metal god listen his last works in brazen abbot he has a better voice than ever.gillan is going down should retire.turner is the best singer of rainbow.. the best singer of purple is no doubt glenn hughes.period!!!
@simonsblackmore I love deep purple without Gillan...Coverdale and Hughes...less with joe lynn turner...but this song is great, their perfomance amazing and S&M is a good album...can't be other way with deep purple...
@simonsblackmore I can stand Purple without Gillan....Evans was great in his own way...Coverdale & Hughes....brilliant. Turner is just Ritchie's "yes-man". Turner talked a lot of crap about Gillan in interviews during the time he was in Purple, that's why the hardcore Purple-camp lost all respect for him. He's a good singer...sometimes. His stint in Purple, he had voice problems. His days in Rainbow...great....Malmsteen....brilliant. Over The Rainbow round these days, still good...
Oh, I wouldn't dream of doing that, Gillan is much better, it's just most people can't get their heads around the concept of DP without Gillan, and whine about Glenn Hughes, Coverdale, and JLT all the time. Not Rod Evans though, strangely...
NO GILAN WAH-WAH SOB CUZ GILAN IS THE ONLY THING WHICH MAKES DEEP PURPLE SOUND LIKE DEEP PURPLE BOO HOO WAH SELF HARM etc. Speaking of Gillan, isn't 3:47 the song "New Orleans" by Gillan? Great song anyway... the first few tracks of Slaves and Masters are killer, the last half is a bit of a let down in my opinion though.
JLT is hardly a master. He's a great commercial love-rock vocalist. Not a great hardrock vocalist. Gillan is the man, no doubt. Coverdale comes in as #2.
Which to me is silly logic since they don't call the current Purple lineup "not Deep Purple" because Blackmore isn't in it (when he is the sound that defines Purple). I find it easier to enjoy the albums bands put out with different members when I put that particular album into context and appreciate it for what it is. Which is why I enjoyed all the "eras" of Sabbath, Van Halen, DP, and others.
umm. If you're talking in contest of DP, yes, I agree. Coverdale is #2. But if you're talking overall, then you really didn't listen to much Whitesnake then because in WS, Coverdale was the epitome of "commercial love-rock".
Amazing version of an amazing song from an amazing album. KILLER!
Joe Lynn Turner.. the best vocals ever!! one of my favorite albums: Slaves and masters.. :D
Comunidad deep purple la mejor la mas fuerte la mas humilde powered purple
I agree that. Slaves and Masters is a good album and this song is one of the best.

This Line-up of DP is one of my favorites Joe Lynn Turner is Fucking Great!!!
Thank you very much for this)))
I love it!!!💪🤘❤️
listen to it again for us then
Ian is hitting the drums really good!
@kitarista94 Naked Thunder and Toolbox are great albums...and the toolbox tour was wonderful with some Gillan wonderful performances...
Great great great

@fallenlugosi Toda la razon. si hubiera hecho otro disco joe lynn turner con purple hubiera sido muy bueno......
Powerfull
Terrific!
@simonsblackmore The problem is that many saw this line-up as Rainbow, not as Deep Purple.
another one from the 90's slaves and masters album. Thought the album was better than critics gave it credit for.
Agreed.... My fave Purple album by far.

@simonsblackmore AGREE!!!!!!!!!!!!

@moreblack I don't think there's much to assume; Blackmore has made it clear he's happier with Candice. Too bad for JLT ;)

Where the hell are the stage lights? Why are these guys playing in the dark?
Not a great album, but this song is one of the better ones. I like Ritchie's guitar sound

@rizzdog you'd have to assume Candice makes him happier ;P ...

BINGO
Wtf is with Rogers bass?
Poor Joe Lynn! Maybe he think he's Gillan.
Then you're very very very very very strange.
@SilverTounge85
Then you must hate Whitesnake.;)
