Where a choir sings about the state of things and the voice of Hydaelyn, now Amanda Achen, challenges us to set our sights further, no longer a plea to understand one another, but a more cheerful hope that we continue to explore to our heart's content.
Before, we sought meaning and Answers from the past. Now, we look onward for new Trails to blaze.

I started at the end of 2022, I took 1150 hours to finish the endwalker, and then I rushed the post-endwakler to be ready for the dawntrail

Oh my god once you hit post storm blood please cherish every second of the msq. You only get one first time and holy hell from there on does it absolutely immolate. Can’t speak for actual Dawntrail yet due to work/relocation but even if you skipped everything prior to shadowbringers the combo of SHB & EW is peak storytelling.
This seems like such a fun song to perform with friends. Can't wait to see The Primals perform it live someday!
Started to play shortly before Endwalker dropped and fought Niddhog on patch day. Finished Shadowbringer by the end of the year and was spell-bound by Endwalker until I cought up half a month later... I am SO excited to play a full ad-on along with my friends this time from start to finish. Download has already finished, now it only takes patience
Same here, except I started playing while endwalker was nearing its, well, end, and just got to dawntrail. Love this song.
I started playing sometime in the middle of Stormblood, got _fucked_ over by Pre-Unskippable Cutscenes Castrum and lost a friend to it, basically set the whole game down until... well, yeah. until cutscenes were made unskippable in those dungeons. I made a point to clear out Endwalker before Dawntrail dropped, and was in the middle of GOLBEZ TIME when early access dropped, and well, now I'm just before opening up the final zone.
When I saw this trailer the first time, and Meteor pulled out a second sword, I was so excited. I wanted a two-sword job for years.
When he put them together, I screamed! I remembered my love for FF9!
Now here I am, a PLD main for years now… working even harder on Viper
This song will never leave my head this makes me energized for work and its gets my really hyped every time i hear it!!
I had to take a hiatus due to real life taking it's toll on me (At 6.5.1 in MSQ as of this point) can't wait to join you all in a few weeks again!!!

Enjoy the ride. You're in what is STILL my favorite section of the story, despite having some genuine trauma that darkens my view of the time I spent on pretty much everything prior to about halfway through shadowbringers. I I have a rough time going back to old aeas and content and still love heavensward in spite of it all.

There's so much going on in this game, from its gameplay to its soundtrack to its plot that interweaves past events into every new story beat and expands on them in reasonable yet unexpected ways to form a coherent yet compelling story the likes of which I haven't seen in ages even on TV...

You know, the lyrics of this opening actually refer to the concept of this new era of FFXIV starting with 7.0. We're no longer bound to only characters and lore from 1.0, we're given a new beginning here, which makes sense since the main characters are no longer bound to Hydaelyn, the Twelve, Ascians, and Zodiark's meddlings. I dont get why people were falling for the vacation arc stuff.
I mean, all the things you said, but it can also kinda be our vacation arc after all the heavy business is said and done. 😂
Maybe it had something to do with the fact that we had 3 back-to-world missions to save the entire world and needed a break.
@Sagasking14 If you personally feel you needed a break after 5.0 and 6.0, I think a therapist might be needed. Also, it's a JRPG, like do you not know the genre you're playing? We have to save the world from deadly threats 100% of the time. Vacations don't exist in the genre, go watch anime for that. >.>

Any story needs to have falling action after rising action. It’s storytelling 101. Thankfully, 80% of DT is exactly that, up until the last 20%, where it’s just going through the motions for more of the same world-saving, despite it just feeling needlessly tacked on.

I don't think so... Just rolled credits and never heard it by itself. The credits theme references lyrics from it, but it's a different song with a different singer.

That part is referencing Smile. Similar to how the Old Sharlyan part from Footfalls was referencing Flow.
Now that the expansion has been done and over, i like the implication that this trailer is representing the 3 days of festivity at the end of the expansion (Be it the fact that a lot of the scenes in this trailer appear in the ending itself).
That said, personally i'd cut Y'shtola and G'raha Tia off the trailer, considering their roles in the story are extremely minimal to warrant their appeareance in the trailer.
But these cases of missdirection have always been a problem, and sometimes makes you wonder if these trailers were commissioned incredibly early into the production of the expansion and scripts.
-Heavensward was the worst offender, with the hyping up of Lolorito as a major villain only for the MSQ to do absolutely nothing with him.
-Stormblood barely shows any plot, so there's little to complain in this regard since the trailer kinda is just "look, 2 locations!" and that's it.
-Shadowbringers was 100% made incredibly VERY early into the production, with most of it's scenes never actually happening, or the characters just telling you they happened (Rak'tika's forest fire being just casually told it happened at one point, not being able to even see it on a echo), and Y'shtola has her design clearly unfinished, even down to her hair not looking anything like the one in-game nor future CGI trailers, considering she's the character that got the most design changes prior to the final release, this makes sense.
-Endwalker surprisingly enough has most of the scenes in the trailer actually happening in some way or another, they most likely had the story they wanted to tell figured out, but the lack of Garlemald in the trailer kinda leads to believe it was the part that got the most cuts.
Overall, this trailer is not bad at all, on par with most of the trailers in terms of quality, but i think Endwalker is still the best one because it really sells you the expansion while also being an accurate portrayal of the experience you'll have.
I don't think this trailer is trying to sell you the narrative of the expansion but more the VIBE of it, being a more laid back and chill experience (even the song tells you to take it slow and just have fun), so i can't really blame it for something it's clearly not trying to do, but i still insist having Y'shtola and G'raha be around in the trailer sets a false expectation of their involvement in the story.
I'm a firm believer that Dawntrail probably needed less scions and just give all their scenes to Krile instead, so probably that's where my opinions on the CGI trailer comes to. But still, really fun trailer. Just hope next expansion trailer has less Scions if they're not going to actually matter.

It honestly would have made more sense for them to say "Time- FOR more once upon a time" since what is the WoL doing in Dawntrail? making a story. which is more once upon a time. so either they mean something about the ancient times, or something else we'll find out in Tural. OR i'm overthinking it. Then again it IS Yoshi P...

Did not expect this song to start playing at the end of fight against Apyaahi.
Loved it tbh. Dawntrail is the whimsy expansion.
Now that I've finished Dawntrail 7.0, I feel so scammed by this trailer. Minor spoilers ahead, I guess.
We get a lengthy Estinien-centric scene fighting a giant monster in the trailer. No mention of it in-game.
Most of the trailer show the Scions off doing their own things. These scenes only happen during the credits for Dawntrail 7.0.
We only see Wuk Lamat in the trailer for a short bit at the end (obviously because they were teasing female Hrothgar). We end up spending the entire expansion with her.
Yea, FFXIV trailers have never been known to be an honest representation of the actual product. The Shadowbringers' trailer famously misdirects the player so they can be pleasantly surprised by the truth while playing through the story. Dawntrail just lies and disappoints.
Dawntrail doesn’t lie about anything that happens based on the trailer. That’s just a ridiculous statement altogether.
Meanwhile, it wasn’t realistically disappointing either. The final boss of it is, but only because it’s yet another instance of the writers forcing us to think a mindless killing machine is somehow sympathetic, despite not being worthy of sympathy. I honestly was just vibing with the adventure the whole time before then.

krile has the echo she's similar to player do to that makes her a reincarnation just like the player character is a reincarnation of Azem so maybe next expansion we could get to know more about her first life similar with Minifila maybe they were some of Azem's friends who weren't creators
I think having the echo is just akin to being tempered by Hydaelyn, like with other primals
@@Overkill195 Pretty much. The Echo's is Hydaelyn's own form of tempering, just that unlike the other primals (Zodiark included), Her tempering is mainly one that keeps us free from trying to do anything ridiculous like summoning her or tempering others.
Instead we get headaches every now and then when it's needed! Thanks Hydaelyn! :D
@@GzzGtu20 Not quite. As Elidibus explained back in pos-Shadowbringers the Echo is a faint trace of the powers Ancients had originally. The Blessing of Light is what Hydaelyn grants people at the same time they awaken to the Echo.
The Blessing of Light is nothing like tempering as the latter is corrupting your aether to align it towards a specific element, while the former is an enchantment that protects your aether from being corrupted.

@@shionlen646 The question of whether or not the Endless are alive distracts from the point that even if they are alive, they are alive at the cost of the currently living and the future lives that would be from reincarnation. Our whole MO is to safeguard life that is currently living and ensure new life can flourish. We've very specifically denied life to those who have already had their go when they refuse to move on.
The Endless were simply a means to continuing a very small selection of lives at the cost of everything else. It only causes us pause because we can empathise with the idea of a second chance at life, but ultimately we cannot abide this system.

Stormblood is the worst, since the trailer is almost completely without music at all, and even when it does have music, it’s the most painfully generic attempt at Japanese music passive. At least Naruto was able to modernize it with modern electric guitar and drums.
