Well done. Interesting list, and the addition of the spoons of mustard was inspired. Next time really go all-in and have a mouthful of wherever your review landed!
This is my first time finding your channel and the mayonnaise story out of the blocks has me hooked. It's the slurpy sound to me. And the smell. So disgusting. Ever notice that the people who say Geek Love is their favorite book are the people who really loved their college years?
Yes! The smell of it. I don't think I've actually ever met anyone who says Geek Love is their favourite😌I'm a hermit. I don't meet many people, except through this channel😔I need to do better...
I'd like to share the most disturbing book I've ever read that would be the girl next door by Jack Ketchum is not for the faint of heart usually stuff doesn't bother me in regular horror books but this is extremely disturbing to me because it was actually based on a real case and Jack Ketchum just kind of fictionalized it
@Michael_Wertenberg It was very entertaining & informative. I always look forward to your videos -- much needed respite, however brief, from the idiotic horror of the world. Please keep them coming.
Hi Michael, hope you are well. I liked your video, some interesting titles to check out. Jack Ketchum’s Off Season pretty much finished me, it was that disturbing. The Girl Next Door was a DNF for me; just too much. BTW, Keene’s hot mustard is my favourite. Take care, and good reading to you.
Excellent Michael! I actually love my chicken mayo sandwiches. Good pizza is top tier for me! 😂 We have very different tastes ( 11/22/63 🤣) but this is a great video. Too much mustard and Jalapeno mate! 🤣 Anita says you might need a frozen roll of toilet paper after that video. 🤣 Great cat outro! 😺
The damage to the victim wrought by the perpetrator is irrevocable, not able to be changed or recovered. It is catastrophic. It is final. Nabokov performed a marvelous act of alchemy by wringing beauty from the ashes of his own childhood destruction. He created and he played. Lolita and My Dark Vanessa by Kate Elizabeth Russell don't disturb me. They comfort me because at least somebody is willing to talk about it.
Food/ condiment categories: Best to Worst. Pizza/Pasta/Tacos/Radish . Best mustard: Maille Whole Grain Mustard. You owe us a jalapeno for Blood Meridian and L0Aathing. I'm currently reading The Spellshop (Sarah Beth Durst) and It Will Only Hurt for a Moment (Delilah S. Dawson). Most disturbing: Annie Bot. The "Dude Bro" speak writing and st00pid story are horrifically bad. I was horrifically disturbed.
Maille Whole Grain!!!! Preach it!! You've saved me from Annie Bot. It was on my TBR, but I'll pass now. Thanks. It Will Only Hurt for a Moment sounds interesting. Let me know how it works out for you.
I can tolerate mayonnaise in small doses. Pizza is a mood food. Sometimes the craving just hits me. Jalapenos and mustard are pretty top-tier for me, too. Never Let Me Go has been on my TBR for a long time. I'm planning to (finally) read it in 2025. I'm currently leading a book club/group read for House of Leaves. I am deep into that labyrinth. It is taking over my life🤣 I also don't care for Brave New World. 1984 is one of my favorite classics. Finally, wow, I can't believe you ate all that mustard and those jalapenos in this video.
😁I've been enjoying your posts about House of Leaves. You're picking up on a lot of stuff I hadn't, such as the pregnancy vocabulary. Thank you for that. You're doing a good job with it.
The fact that you punished yourself with these food items fits well with the video and made me laugh a number of times. Can't say I'll be stealing this idea but I'm glad somebody is pushing the boat out!
Haha, I feel the same way about pizza as you do about mustard. There's some really amazing pizza. Good Italian pizza. High quality ingredients. Wood fire oven. Yeah you have crappy yellow mustard like there's crappy pizza. But the both have elevated experiences when done right.
I don't like mayo either! 😂🤑 i like honey mustard with french fries!😋 The most 'disturbing ' part of this video is picturing you at a garden party making mayo.😂 Love the video, a long one! I got halfway, I'll finish watching it later. xx❤️📚
Honey and mustard, 2 things I love and when put together, they cancel each other out, IMO. The video would have been even longer if I had kept in the 10 minutes of me trying to pronounce the word 'protestant'.
@Michael_Wertenberg haha seems like you were having a bit of trouble getting out 'screw' as well for Screw tape letters 🤭 Starting Rest Stop tonight. xx👍
MUSTARD is your top tier?? 🤢 I guess I don't like getting punched in the face. I remember not caring for Haunted as a whole...but that pool scene still lives in my brain. I couldn't make it through the clockwork orange movie. Had to turn it off at a certain scene, so I'm guessing the book wouldn't be a good time for me either. I've heard the last chapter was removed because it basically absolves the characters from their acts, stating that they are truly good people who just made bad choices.
Mustard is the top tier. I'm all about 'hot' takes and controversy. I can see how someone would interpret the last chapter that way, though I didn't take it like that. The movie is more difficult than the book, at least for me it was. But the book is gleefully violent, so I can appreciate some people being put off by it.
You sir...are a trooper. Never has erudition and masochism been so perfectly blended. Keep up the good work!
😄I love it. Thank you. Masochistic Erudite would be a good name for a BookTube channel. Wish I had thought of that sooner😄
Well done.

Great idea! I will use it. Thanks

Thank you, Jamie. I've heard that's a truely disturbing read. I've only read Ketchum's first book, Off Season, and that one was too much for me.
@@Michael_Wertenberg yeah that one was almost too much for me. It was brutal.
Yeah I stopped reading when I realized I was reading torture porn.
I think these are my favorite tiers. Much more original than just letters
Thank you. Might as well try to have fun with the concept.
Love your videos…I really want to try that mustard!
Thank you. It's not as good as Maille, but it's better than I expected for a Latvian food product
Great video, sir (even though it triggered severe acid-reflux-by-proxy in me).
Thank you! And sorry about that. The video didn't go exactly as I had anticipated🙃

@@BrentDavis75 Thank you for the kind words! I love it. It's true that I do need encouragement. Thank you. I'll keep them coming!
The Road was probably the most compelling book I’ve ever read. Interesting list. I will have to check out those that I haven’t read.
I might have to give it a second read when I'm in a better mental state. Though, when is that ever going to be the case?
@@Michael_Wertenberg lol

I will henceforth refer to Anita as 'The Astronaut'. She goes to a place no one else has dared to go😅

Great point. Excellent comment! Thank you
None of these is truly disturbing. At least, not to me.
Yep, it's relatively tame: a beginner's guide to the disturbing, almost

Never let me go is one of my all time favorites
Great book! I should read more from him since I also loved The Remains of the Day: 5 stars
The most disturbing book I've ever read had to be The Melting by Lize Spit. I enjoyed The Collector, both the book and the movie.
Hi Christine. I hadn't heard of The Melting. I just looked it up and read the synopsis. Ouch! That sounds too intense for me.
Haha, I feel the same way about pizza as you do about mustard. There's some really amazing pizza. Good Italian pizza. High quality ingredients. Wood fire oven. Yeah you have crappy yellow mustard like there's crappy pizza. But the both have elevated experiences when done right.
That's a fair point. I have had excellent pizza before. The best was in Oro Preto, Brazil. A distant second was in Caglari, Italy

@@Michael_Wertenberg mayyyybe I'll give it a shot one day. Certain SA scenes in movies are just too much for me.
I Was Dora Suarez by Derek Raymond
I hadn't heard of this before. Just looked it up. Sounds intense!
No way you eat 5 spoonfuls of mayonnaise! Even a mayo lover would shy away from that one.
I wouldn't even eat 1, wouldn't even let that vileness touch my lips! This is a mayo-free channel, always will be
