bungee strap [x3] the dremel to a suitable box, then offer/slide the item to the cutting-wheel along the other box-side + rotate. Worked for me, with a similar job.
Watching the melting plastic actually made me feel that I could smell it!! P.S. I agree Big corporates deliberately make things hard to repair or even change a battery; Apple shame on you.
I took mine apart with plastic credit card no heat gun and Stanley knife cut around it a few times and stack in the blade and went around it digging in a knife going around it few times then pulled back with screwdriver the some chip was lose just like yours i was digging in there with a meter chinking the chips somehow got lose i also had a few sparks come of the one next to it that looks like a spider caused more damage i think i got the some Problem as above power going in no lights on sire. bought a few on eBay for parts tom fix one i am a novice in repair took a lot of hard work for it to come apart go slow and make sure your up for the job as you need to have lots of energy and time. i bought it on eBay for parts for me to fix ended buying another two to fix one, fingers crossed.
Apple should take a look at the Amazon Echo Studio and how easy it is to open that one. Multiple layers of PCBs and speakers just screwed together...like it should be.
It's not that they don't know how to build devices, they just don't want them repaired, cause we won't buy new ones from them. Or as they say: "It's for security reasons.", i.e. they need their financial security. 😁
Yes, it could do a better job but if it can spin slowly when doing it. If the rpm is too high, the blade is gonna emit a lot a heat and cause the plastic to melt and bond again. But still, with all these possible problems, I think it can do a better job.
I repaired 5-6 no power faults. The Problem here is the shottky diode on the amplifier board of the tweeters. The Diode is located right next to the „mad hot“ coil :D
@@innatorecords Hi Bro, I am sorry to hear that. I sadly didnt find the Solution to this Problem yet. The Problem is said to be caused by a Softwareupdate. I am not sure about that but It could be a Problem with the RAM chip.

I have to say that it’s all on the consumer, Apple keeps continually making these products, if consumers didn’t buy them that way, Apple would have no choice but to make them repairable or not at all, we demand/choose as consumers what we want, not the billion dollar companies, they cannot make a profit without us and that includes the cost of products as well!
The power supplies rarely go bad. It's almost always the diode he replaces in part 2 that shorts out and prevents the homepod from powering on. If you're sure it's your power supply, the 250V 15A fuse in the PSU is probably what blew. If you insist on a power supply, I have a few spares I can sell. If you or Sorin don't want to repair it I'm happy to take it on!
BRAVO BOSS ;)
DEefinately should use the hot air on lowest setting maybe or prepare with hairdryer rathert than the solderting Iron, it's just a strong glue that will melt slightly. This judging by the Ifixit. It's the same speaker. Juyst hot air and some force with tape on a wide flat head should have done the trick, but, you do your thing as they say. I am just pointing it out is all.
Apple's main purpose is to make money for their shareholders and keep their stock price higher. They do that with the ridiculous profit margins on stuff they sell. Service is also a good profit margin for them but as other board-level repairers have shown over the year Apple's company policy is to maximize return. They do this by charging an arm and a leg for repairs which otherwise could be a cheap repair. That is so you buy a replacement item which is usually a refurbished item from another customer who bought another item instead of repairing it. P.S. Did you use an expensive Hakko soldering tip to melt the base of that home pod?
It could've been sawed with a band-saw instead of melting with the iron. Many less complications. Nice, clean cut that could've been epoxied back together. Barely noticeable.
When you buy a new Beamer for the first four years you take back to the dealership for any repairs. First under the guarantee and then because named parts and service are still an investment. After that for the next three years or so you take it to the top, cleanest mechanics in the area. The one who has all the fancy tools that you pay for and still uses BMW parts but it’s worth it because of the value of the car. Then for a few years you take it to a back street garage, the guy with the cigarette in the corner of his mouth but he knows cars inside out. He will use third part parts where possible but will have to use some BMW ones when there’s no other option. Then it gets to the stage where you and your mates get together on a Saturday morning all trying to flex mechanical knowledge. All parts are sourced from the local breaker's. Between you you'll eventually you get it running again for a couple of weeks or until the next MOT, which you go back to the back street garage for. This time they fit all Beamer parts because they know you'll pay the mark up because they have you by the short and curlies. Pay it and have a legal car for the next twelve months or go looking for another car that probably only has a short MOT on it. Why can't people like Apple see the value of this marketing model?
Might not help with this, but, it's time for EU legislation requiring that toys & consumer electronics with an internal battery (rechargeable or not) MUST be constructed so that the end user can replace said battery with the use of no more than one tool, which must be supplied. Law to be applied to everything, toys, clocks, watches, computers, laptops, phones, tablets, everything.. no exceptions except *maybe* stuff that needs to be *used* underwater, or in a hazardous environment. Not even sure that exception should be allowed, since it's perfectly feasible to seal a battery compartment. Else sale of said product within the EU would be prohibited. The difficulty with small form-factor speakers is that unless you glue them, they'll vibrate at the seams & buzz if used at high volume settings after a while, unless the housing is engineered in an exceptionally robust (and consequently expensive) way.
I don´t like Apple because they are so arrogant, and not even sell spare parts for better pros in repair business. having a dremel tool would be convenient for something like that. But not something you would use often.
Given the background the cheap ones can be had for like 20€ it doesn’t need to be used every day. ;)
