Thanks for the excellent guide! Managed to replace the diode on mine by some miracle! I don't have a good hot air blaster and ended up breaking the top off the diode, at least was able to apply some solder to the whole pad then to get it off, the whole board was heating up must have a good ground plane!
This will be done first time in India.. I have ordered the repair tools and diode, can't wait to tear my homepod apart! cheers to not giving up Edit: Moment at 19:28 must have been very emotional for you
Well done :-D Its a bit of a finger twister to get it all back in there. I'm guessing the odd diode is part of a tiny boost power supply. Something like that or maybe not lol.
Thank you. I’m going to have a go you made a very easy to follow video

Do you have a link to the replacement diode? Or what specific one I will need
I ordered this one from the UK: www.ebay.co.uk/itm/175405713720
Can I mail mine to you for repair? I have this same issue!
Nicely done. I would have looked for a used replacement.
One of my HomePod-minis died recently. It's completely dead, doesn't respond even through USB. Is it diode most likely cause for a mini too?
Possibly, but I have no experience with repairing those I'm afraid.
