Actually they have already dropped hints, In the falshback when Alba was mourning death of her husband, Xo says its June 12, the day my father died and the narrator says in the beginning of the episode that it's not like its my day and they show the calendar saying June 12. I think the narrator is Jane's grandfather Mateo and that explains his latin accent too.

It isn't going to be Mateo that would be weird getting all excited with his mom getting it on. Here's my theory I think its Jane and her version what the narrator would sound like. The last episode of season 4 there is a huge clue to my theory she is sitting on the bed and types" it all started thirteen and a half years ago" that was the first line said by the narrator in the show. Another clue is she is teaching a class and explains why a narrator would be good in a story. Just because the voice of the narrator is a male voice doesnt mean it is actually a male voice it's her version of what she thinks the narrator would sound like. Also there is alot of typed details about some characters in the show it is a telenueva after all lol.
Watch the pilot episode the first words of the show is the narrator saying "it all began thirteen and a half years ago then jump to season 4 episode 17 she is sitting on the bed and types "it all began thirteen and a half years ago" she is the author of the narrator so it's her version what the narrator will sound like as well.
I think he is just a normal narrator, but who is telling the story Jane wrote on her family's history. The story then gets a screen adaptation (if that is how you call it) as a Telenovela, only to later become the now known Tv show named "Jane, The virgin".

the voice (author) in the show Jane the virgin is Jane. Let me explain. At the beginning of the show, the author says “our story begins 13 and a half years ago”. That is the first sentence said in the whole show. Then looking at the end of the show, we get to see a Jane “lightbulb” moment for her new book, she wants to connect all her different unfinished (and her one finished) stories together. She wants to include her love story, her mother, her grandmother, drama, heartbreak and even crime in her new book. ”All the lightness and all the darkness”. So she starts writing in her computer, and the sentence that she writes is “our story begins 13 and a half years ago”. The show Jane the virgin is based on Jane’s book, where she writes about her life and includes everything that we have seen throughout the show. It is a telenovela in a book form! Jane is the author because she wrote the book, and this show is based on the book!
Bina Amiri we aren’t arguing what the narrator is reading, we’re all pretty convinced it’s Janes book he’s reading, but we are questioning who the reader is. The premise is that whoever the narrator is is reading janes book to us, the audience. Now the question remains who is the narrator.

YO! Didn't CW already announced that Gina Rodriguez would be narrating the spin-off series of Jane the Virgin? And that the stories featured in the said spin-off would be the novels written by Jane herself? If Jane is revealed to be the narrator I would fucking lose my shit!

Ok my theory of the narrator is it is Jane in her version what the narrator would say like in the last episode in season 4 there is a scene she is sitting on her bed and types "it all began thirteen and a half years ago" that was the first line in this series spoken by the narrator. Also another clue it is Jane is the narrator types and details certain characters. Another clue is one episode she is teaching the class talking about how a narrator would be good in a story all signs point to Jane writing what the narrator is saying and imagining what it would sound like in a premise like a telenueva much like her alter self that is critical. It couldn't be Mateo why would lln (narrator) get excited about Jane getting it on. Latin lover she is latin and just because it's a male's voice doesnt mean it is really a man it is a telenueva after all nothing should surprise u lol. I just binged watched all of them the last 4 days all signs point to Jane go to the pilot listen to the first line of the show then watch Jane type that on her laptop on season 4 episode 17 she is the author of the narrator so the voice is her version of what the narrator would sound like.

I think the narrator is the narrator of one of janes books. I think the very end of the series is going to end with Jane finishing a book and the whole story that we've been watching was all her book.

No I really don't think the first one came true, it should have though for maaaany reasons more than just #teammichael.
