The story quest is something like that ruu waiting for the thunderbird to return when in truth he has been dead for thousands of years because thier tribe offered him to the thunderbird where as the thunderbird wants to be friends with him. After realizing that they killed ruu the thunderbird destroyed the island and everything in it. Longing for the song her friend promised and the spirit of ruu staying trying to find out why the thunderbird was so angry and never returned. And in a loop for thousands of years recreating the offering and failing again and again until we arrive to take him out of the island to sing where his old friend has perished giving a closure to a promise he has said.

There were so many well meaning, but misplaced intentions in this place. A truly avoidable tragedy. The haunting music expresses this. Peng really did a great job by not giving the island a spooky tune. Though the island is spooky, the painful history resonates through the Bgm. Just loved it.
02:17 and 07:41 are really emotional and made me feel so sad and depressed about the story of the island. Like, at first I didn't think the story was that emotional but after listening to that I just started crying remembering about Ruu, how everyone is just dead and Kapatcir.
SPOILERS She story of Ruu and Kapatcir is the same as the story told in the Thundering Fury set, thousands of years ago, the island was inhabited by a tribe that worshipped Kapatcir the Thunderbird, for her, human worship meant nothing, for she saw men the same as animals. One day, as the Thunderbird flew high over the skies of Tsurumi in a great thunderstorm, Kapatcir heard a beautiful song pierce the clouds, it was Ruu. Kapatcir was deeply captivated by his music, and the two enjoyed a friendly chat. Ruu promised he would sing to Kapatcir again the next time they met, and so a promise was made. Some time later the time came for the tribe to make an offering to the Thunderbird, when she arrived, he saw that Ruu had volunteered as a sacrifice, the boy lay dead at the ceremonial site, his blood filling the goblet that would be known as Omen of Thunderstorm, of the Thundering Fury set. The pain felt from the murder of an innocent child and a promise unkept drove Kapatcir mad, she laid waste to the entire island and slaughtered it's people to avenge the boy who she called a friend. Years later, the island healed its wounds and vegetation grew again, and Kapatcir was hunted and killed as a beast. All the people we've met in the quest are likely the island's memories, hence why none of them seem to be able to notice us, except Ruu.
I didn't start playing Genshin to shed tears. This game is getting darker and darker, and while I do appreciate it; these stories just breaks my heart. This is so so..sad.
Tsurumi Island’s music makes me tear up every time. The story combined with this beautiful music punches you in the heart with a deep feeling of grief and loss.
The first track, the one with the flute, is just so good. It does an amazing job at making you feel the tragedy of the island. Everytime it plays, i stop moving and just hum along with the flute. It might be my favorite OST in the whole game.
02:17 always gives me chills. I mean, I always stop, and take time to listen, to relax, to sink in. I just let this theme go into my heart and mind. So calming, so smoothing..
Relax? Bro I can't, everytime this song starts I try to hold myself and keep playing but then I burst out crying until it stops. There was a time I cut the music from Genshin because I had cried too much that day
The real dark ambient music yu peng god👌 "Misty ruth" reminds me of zelda ocarina of time It gives an aura of melancholy and a certain nostalgia, letting you know that at some point there was life there...
some said this song has the eerie vibes, but for me, it ultimately describes the beauty of a wasteland. I had already fallen for it the first time I heard from the 2.2 update. Other than Dragonspine, this is the second place that i love the most.
dragonspine and tsurumi are my two favorite places in genshin too -- they definitely have commonalities in the lore (the cave art is strikingly similar), and also they're both just really beautiful visually and musically
The feeling these OST bring to us are suitable to the island: dark, lonely, sad. My mood is always down whenever I come to Tsurumi and listen to the music, especially 2:20.
Genshin is really weird, NPC story quest is more better than main story. I honestly still disappointed whole inazuma archon quest and i glad this new story quest with NPC really well written. I really demand them to put voice over in NPC story quest so all players will not get bored easily
This’s so true. Genshin’s lore is so well written and it has an amazing world building but sadly can’t say the same about the archon quests most of them were fine or even mediocre, well except that dainsilef one.
LITERALLY the archon quest was meh but ei’s and kokomo’s story quests were literally terrible especially raiden’s 😕 same with the sacred sakura cleansing ritual quest
@@KYSNYAN I think after a year now, based on my opinion, Sumeru have the best Archon Quest by far Then come Liyue, Mondstadt and lastly Inazuma, Liyue and Mondstadt seems pretty okay to me, tbh I still think Mondstadt have somewhat better than Liyue's archon quest just because it have such good isekai vibe to it - good for introduce you to the world of Teyvat while Liyue just a bit less of my cup of tea since it's kinda boring with some politics stuff, only Inazuma feel meh because of the fast paced story and very bad characters writting, fortunately, Ei's second story quest did redeem it
Remember when Childish Jiang's quest was the darkest Genshin quest we could ever think of? Good times.... Now music from Tsurumi Island alone is sad in itself
The ost is simple yet it is so full of emotions. I had chills and had tears at the same time. It is spooky, sad and heartearming at the same time wtf mhyo
Так печально осознавать, что мы врятли когда-нибудь встретим подобную сюжетную линию, с её прекрасной музыкой и атмосферой. Я бы очень хотел, чтобы разработчики делали игру не абы как, видно они вложили много сил в Цуруми.
Wandering through the fog with this music is an absolute treat for an October spook!! Also it low-key reminds me of silent hill bc I always associate fog with it lol
Personally, I love when the fog is covering the sun and the sun pierces through the fog. I took so many pictures of it because it looked amazing and the atmosphere was nothing like any other region or island.
Tsurumi island really reminded me of Silent hill, strangely I like this area more than the rest of the island because of the backstory and the sad songs it plays.
This made me realize the thunder manifestation is the thunderbird's lingering rage when ruu got sacrificed... Damn the inazuman stories makes sense now
This island is the only place where I get an unpleasant feeling, but I even before doing the quest sensed something was clearly wrong, the people, the scenary, the atmosphere really make you question everything that happened in this place, ruu's backstory rivals some actual characters writing,if only it was voiced..
Me too! When it played in the game I just froze when that song played and I was going nuts lmao. It's just so beautiful words aren't enough to describe how beautiful it is
sorrows of strays always makes me stop what am doing and i have the tears and the emotions coming out inside of me its so powerful i never thought a soundtrack would make me feel like this, master piece.
I think this island doesn't fit Genshin Impact because it feels like I'm playing a different game, and I love that! I must say I was a little scared when I started exploring it and the music played a very important role in it. This island needs even more spooky and grotesque monsters to reach perfection imo.
this island is near the outside of this world, has less connection to the civilized areas covered by the seven archons. we even have creepy creatures here which should be from the outside. i guess thats why it feels different
The music makes you feel so nostalgic, sad and peaceful at the same time. I'm on day 4 of the Tsurumi Quest, but couldn't help it and read what happened. I wish this story Quest was voiced, because it honestly deserved it. It looked like Tatara Tales at first with it's real-time daily quests and I personally found that quest pretty boring, but Tsurumi, the thunderbird and Ruu was so touching. I also feel like the people we met being memories or time playing itself over and over again could be foreshadowing for other events within the game. After all, we know time flies differently in the abyss. Seems like teyvat has many places similair to this. They really saved the best island for last. It's the only place where I don't have spotify on and just listen to its own OST (After 3 months of daily inazuma you do get tired of it as amazing as the music is). Sadly, there's not much to do on there and I'm already at 96%. I wish it would make sense to go there more often T T
Tsurumi, also known for me as the "Isle of the disastrous fog". This is the first place, where there was not a single human living in. Heck, There aren't even human enemies on that island. Definitely shows, that this place was forgotten in history.
For me this tops everything. Sacred Cleanse, We Will be Reunited, Tatara Tales, or even Liyue Archon quest for that matter. I wish miHoYo starts to put voice acts on these important and big world quests.
I just finished this side quest a while ago. The last parts of the quest made me cry a lot. So far, this has got to be my most fave sidequest in Genshin ever both story-wise and gameplay-wise. The island music is also beautiful. I wish I can get Fading Memories for my teapot. In the meantime, I'll just listen to it here 😊
The song on this island gives off a feeling of loneliness and sadness that lingers in the mist, and it also gives a feeling of mystery and falling into a misty reverie.
1:22 is my most fav part of the music, ik it's depressing but it has some good vibe to it. Like a hope rising from shadows just like ruu story quest, trying the ritual again and again till traveler helped him to succeed.
2:17 OST is very emotional and 4:55 is a very nostalgic and depressing OST knowing you're on an island people inhabited before but there's not a single life there no more

All the people we've met in the quest are likely the island's memories, hence why none of them seem to be able to notice us, except Ruu.
that.. this… is so heart breaking.. no wonder there’s this ost that makes me feels as though a promise was broken and sadness and anger took over…
i felt sad even when entering this island. All i could do is fall silent
Oh my god that's so sad
That's why everyone seemed so eerie to me and not real..
You mean Shakuhachi
@@kazuha7021 yeah, i didn't know the name of the instrument 😅
04:55 gives such a horror vibe like I always get chills when I walk through there and I just stop cuz Idk what will come out of that mist-
So far this island is perhaps the deepest and darkest ones. Mihoyo do really enjoy pulling stories of such nature...
There was a time I cut the music from Genshin because I had cried too much that day
Really gives the chills 😬.
And Then you hear the sound "YAA"
@@kkuro7415 or the stupid ass monster that applies corrosion effect
More like peaceful
@@kkuro7415 this happens to me when i dont wanna fight hilichurls
@@kazukazu9544 after learning what happened to ruu, the peaceful sounding tunes now sound horribly tragic to me
Tsurumi's quest chain made me feel so lousy that I couldn't play that game for the whole week, but man, what I would give to do it again...
I hate monsters interrupting the music. also might just be my imagination but I'm getting some Radiohead and C418 vibes
I thought I was the only one feeling the Minecraft vibe
Quite a few pieces from genshin give me C418 vibes actually....
YESS
Sigur ros /Mono too
The real dark ambient music yu peng god👌
"Misty ruth" reminds me of zelda ocarina of time
It gives an aura of melancholy and a certain nostalgia, letting you know that at some point there was life there...
I love the abandoned lost with time feel it has, they done a great job on this island
some said this song has the eerie vibes, but for me, it ultimately describes the beauty of a wasteland. I had already fallen for it the first time I heard from the 2.2 update.
Other than Dragonspine, this is the second place that i love the most.
Couldn't agree more!
dragonspine and tsurumi are my two favorite places in genshin too -- they definitely have commonalities in the lore (the cave art is strikingly similar), and also they're both just really beautiful visually and musically
@@tejakausik6205you said it perfectly!
@@hibaluvsyou The sacred sakura one wasn't that bad
@@hibaluvsyou really? I loved the sacred sakura cleansing quest lmao💀 The ending atleast.
@@KYSNYAN I think after a year now, based on my opinion, Sumeru have the best Archon Quest by far
Then come Liyue, Mondstadt and lastly Inazuma, Liyue and Mondstadt seems pretty okay to me, tbh I still think Mondstadt have somewhat better than Liyue's archon quest just because it have such good isekai vibe to it - good for introduce you to the world of Teyvat while Liyue just a bit less of my cup of tea since it's kinda boring with some politics stuff, only Inazuma feel meh because of the fast paced story and very bad characters writting, fortunately, Ei's second story quest did redeem it
Remember when Childish Jiang's quest was the darkest Genshin quest we could ever think of? Good times....
Now music from Tsurumi Island alone is sad in itself
This island is the most remote and loneliest island in all of teyvat.
Yes, same feeling for me. The original Silent Hill. Eerie sound. I also hear some Resident Evil.
It feels like silent hill
Personally, I love when the fog is covering the sun and the sun pierces through the fog. I took so many pictures of it because it looked amazing and the atmosphere was nothing like any other region or island.
Tsurumi island really reminded me of Silent hill, strangely I like this area more than the rest of the island because of the backstory and the sad songs it plays.
This made me realize the thunder manifestation is the thunderbird's lingering rage when ruu got sacrificed... Damn the inazuman stories makes sense now
The first time I heard 8:37, I legit teared up and idk why. That's how strong Yu Peng Chen is 😫
This island is the only place where I get an unpleasant feeling, but I even before doing the quest sensed something was clearly wrong, the people, the scenary, the atmosphere really make you question everything that happened in this place, ruu's backstory rivals some actual characters writing,if only it was voiced..
This theme went from really sad and melancholy to creepy for me the more secrets I uncovered
idk why but I nearly cried at 02:17 it's just so nice and I never cry to music but it's just so good aaaa TwT
Me too! When it played in the game I just froze when that song played and I was going nuts lmao. It's just so beautiful words aren't enough to describe how beautiful it is
preach fam, it straight up hurt my soul whenever i listen to it
I actually cried alot while listening to this and reading the Thundering fury story set
Because ua-cam.com/video/I4rtcJnRd6s/v-deo.html
😭
sorrows of strays always makes me stop what am doing and i have the tears and the emotions coming out inside of me its so powerful i never thought a soundtrack would make me feel like this, master piece.
0:27 I really like this part ngl
It's really nice listening to this away from the stressful puzzles and quests.
this island is just so good 😭✋
this is a music that have story behind it and very deep story, thats how i feel when hear this ost
the second one is definitely my favourite. ive almost 100% tsurumi because of this ost and how much time i spend listening to it lmao
The music is so beautiful, especially this track 02:17
Glad I went there on my own before doing the actual quest, the eerieness of the island at first felt genuinely authentic.
I think
this island doesn't fit Genshin Impact because it feels like I'm playing a different game, and I love that! I must say I was a little scared when I started exploring it and the music played a very important role in it. This island needs even more spooky and grotesque monsters to reach perfection imo.
You'll be sad once you know the whole story. It is truly poignant and tragic. Classic mihoyo.
"Doesn't fit Genshin Impact"
Oh trust me...Genshin is probably gonna get darker knowing Mihoyo
this island is near the outside of this world, has less connection to the civilized areas covered by the seven archons. we even have creepy creatures here which should be from the outside. i guess thats why it feels different
It's Mihoyo. Things are gonna get darker and darker each update
Genshin OST´s are impressive as always and It also amazes how they match each of the different places and scenarios.
2:17 is my fave ost i feel so emotional whenever i hear this on tsurumi island :(( i miss doing the quest it's so sad 😢 i miss ruu sm 😞
Fading memories just hit different. Damn near made me emotional.
Even foggy all over the place, these OSTs make me feel relaxed
Inazuma has the most saddest stories. This land really lost more then any other region ( my personal opinion)
Genshin's stories from the past never disappoints. All of the quest pertaining to a certain past lost to time are really well made quests.
Ruu's Quest >>>>>> Inazuma's Act I Quest
For me this tops everything. Sacred Cleanse, We Will be Reunited, Tatara Tales, or even Liyue Archon quest for that matter. I wish miHoYo starts to put voice acts on these important and big world quests.
so true
Inazuma chapter I just fine. The last 2 chapter is kinda... rushed? Idk.
@@ShinjuAra It feels rushed because a lot of things happened,
i actually expect future quest to be better because of this new update and new quest
I just finished this side quest a while ago. The last parts of the quest made me cry a lot. So far, this has got to be my most fave sidequest in Genshin ever both story-wise and gameplay-wise.
The island music is also beautiful. I wish I can get Fading Memories for my teapot. In the meantime, I'll just listen to it here 😊
I love how eerie some of the musics are while I’m playing the quest at 3am
The song on this island gives off a feeling of loneliness and sadness that lingers in the mist, and it also gives a feeling of mystery and falling into a misty reverie.
Just when you thought Inazuma couldn’t get any darker and melancholic
07:41 and 0:2:17 would be the most heartfelt in my opinion
1:22 is my most fav part of the music, ik it's depressing but it has some good vibe to it. Like a hope rising from shadows just like ruu story quest, trying the ritual again and again till traveler helped him to succeed.
From the start, this island felt sad, tragic even. As the quests continued, the unstated horror sunk in.
I love this music so much. Sometimes I teleport to Tsurumi Island and just listen to the music😌
2:17 OST is very emotional and 4:55 is a very nostalgic and depressing OST knowing you're on an island people inhabited before but there's not a single life there no more
track four sounds so nostalgic? idk why
Its so sad and spooky.. The locals of the island. No peaceful burial for these lost souls :(
Tbh this "side" quest was more memorable than the Inazuma's main story quest. it's eerily in the beginning, then you realize... Prob only me, but I thought the murals in the ruin were also pretty dope
02:17 is my favourite
Inazuma is like the most deep nation like I love it I can't express I wish I was living in inazuma as traveller
Yow reminder that this is just a World quest of an npc and it got people bawling their eyes out, imagine when they finally killed a playable character
waiting on mihoyos ultimate dark turn
@@gracetricker7064 yea i kinda expect that from Mihoyo and I'm ready for it to hit me like a bullet train
The flute in that first track really does it for me
Fading memories is my ultimate favorite soundtrack in the game so far .
After understanding what really happened to Ruu, I just feel sad while roaming through the island
The first one really sounds like Subwoofer Lullaby
This is my favourite Genshin location in the whole game! 😭💗💗💗
This is one of my top tracks in genshin, can’t stop listening to the eerie yet calming melody.
07:41 sounds like frank sinatra's "strangers in the night"
I’ve thought this all night while playing. Came here to see if it actually is.
are you the guy from that reddit post?
It's the first one I heard when getting there and recognised it instantly
Alright now these are my top favourite osts no one can change my mind : Tsurumi ost -> Unfinished frescoes -> Finale of the Snowtomb -> Dvalin's nest
Listening 04:55 when there's still got fog is kinda creepy
only reason why i go back to tsurumi island was for the OST. my favorite is ruu’s melody and fading memories
6:51は、鶴観の少し怖いような雰囲気を盛り上げるのに大きく貢献したと思います。とても良い音楽です。
When All Has Elapsed is my favorite. Whenever it plays I just stop and stand looking into the mist and enjoy it... gives me chills
I love this ost and seirai island’s
By this time sometimes i come back to listen this masterpiece 2:17 and will return yet regardless i passed all this island more than year ago
2:17 feels like something/someone has been long forgotten
Man idk just the moment when the flute sound is a coming in a little fast. (at 0:35) That always makes me emotional.
love this so much... :o
I’m sorry Teppei, but you’ve been dethroned as my favorite NPC, Ruu is now my favorite
