  • The range for the green anole is the Southeastern United States and they are the only native anoles in the USA.
They are under threat by pesticide use, habitat loss, feral cats, and the brown anole.
Keep them safe from your pets as well. Pets love to chase lizards so save all you can from your dogs and cats.
Green anoles are not very common in Florida anymore. They can use all the help we can provide.
Green anoles are graceful and deliberate in their movements with a calm and curious personality. They don't usually act fearful of humans, but will avoid humans. They don't instantly flee like brown anoles do, but rather gracefully move away to a safer distance. Some will even hang around to watch me while I am working. If they happen to be somewhere low enough to watch a person gardening, or weeding, they will go after insects that I disturb. They are smart and curious and wonderful to have in the garden. They use their eyes like chameleon's do with them constantly moving around to take in their surroundings which adds to their list of interesting behaviors. Not to mention they are just beautiful to look at.

Sorry about the mistake in my narration - when I said the "green anoles are moving up into the canopy to get away from the green anoles". lol I'm sure you've figured out I meant to say brown anoles. I didn't want to redo the video and lose my lovely comments so please accept my apologies now.
