I love Alison arngrim a wonderful actress and as a person is one of the kindest people that one person could ever meet no I have not had the privilege of meeting Allison but I would love to meet her someday I have a very special connection with Allison and the Little House on the prairie thank you so much for your work and what you do may God bless you
Alison-the show would not have been the show without you!! I was a child when this show was on,and there was a Nellie in every school.I'm just glad there was an Alison to play her!!Thanks for the great memories Alison Arngrim and Katherine MacGregor!!!
Loved her role as Nellie... the show wouldn't have been as interesting without Nellie! I especially loved it when she fell in love with Percival. Those were my favorite episodes... her and Percival. :)
Without Harriet and Nellie Little House On The Prairie wouldn't of had near the success it came to have. If you hated this two characters with a passion every time they did something evil in the show , It means they played their roles so good down to every detail. Playing the nice person/ character is so damn easy but acting as a villain takes talent that you literally have to think/ feel in order to convince the audience. Harriet/ Nellie were underrated and DESERVE MUCH MORE credit for giving the program ALWAYS a reason for viewers to wanna tune in each and every time.
I would say playing villian is challenging for those with decent enough personality, and playing nice character is hard when the actor in real life does not have a nice personality or likes being a bad donkey.
I love this video! I always loved this show growing up in the 70's. I'm 50 now and still watch in reruns on TV. Allison is such a class act and very beautiful! She has such an engaging personality. Thanks for sharing! Cheers from Canada.

Alison is terrific!!!! She is hillarious, tells it like it is. That people still hate Nellie just proves what a wonderful actress Alison is. I hope to see hear stand-up comedy show one day
This was (and still is) absolutely one of my favorite shows ever! Thank you so much for this. It changed my view on Nellie so much! She's so funny, now her mother might be a different story....... 🤣🤣😂😂🤣🤣😂😂
Alison Arnigrim is a fantastic actress she did the role of Nellie Oleson so awesome n will. What's amazing is her n Melissa Gilbert where best of friend when the show first started behind the sceens
Alison is so great! I love her sense of humor. She says in her book that she learned to be funny as a defense mechanism. She was physically and sexually abused as a child by her psycho older brother, while their clueless parents looked the other way, and she was physically attacked in public at least once by fans of LHOTP.
The real Nellie Owens (married name Kirry) is actually buried about fifty miles east of Tillamook, in the Forest View Cemetery in Forest Grove, Oregon. I actually live about fourteen miles east of the cemetery but haven't had a chance to go there yet.
You have a good eye for detail, OhGoodAFarce! You'll give me a good run for my money as a pop culture trivia expert for sure. Are you a subscriber yet? David
Alison was PERFECTLY cast for the part of Nellie Oleson. I can't imagine anyone else portraying this character as flawlessly as she did. Same with Katherine MacGregor as Mrs. Oleson. EASILY two of the best characters on the show. And the fact that she and Melissa Gilbert were close friends in real life, and they could take their jealous rivalry farther than someone who wasn't comfortable going there, made it all the more hilarious. ESPECIALLY when they were fighting over poor Almanzo. lol He was a VERY handsome man in real life, so I understand why they both wanted him.
"The Return of Nellie" is a great episode. It not only gave Nellie the opportunity to face off against her "replacement," Nancy, who even had the same hairdo as Nellie when she was younger, but it showed how much the other characters loved her. Sure, they wanted to smack her many times (and so did the audience), but they did love her, and missed her when she went away. Alison Arngrim, aka Nellie's portrayer, had no use for people who pitted Nellie and Nancy against each other, like when they wrote to her, "You're the only true Nellie!" Nancy wasn't Nellie. Yes, there was a general physical resemblance, but Nancy was actually different from Nellie -- she was deeply insecure and always thought people hated her, whereas Nellie thought everyone loved her.
Lol Nancy always said, "you hate me" real dramatically 😂 Omgosh I love Little House. I couldn't wait to get off the school bus at 4 pm to watch it. Here I am now a grandma and I finally purchased the entire movie collection set! My kids laughed at me for spending $70 at Wal-Mart on Little House, but it just brings back great memories lol All of the Actors did a fantastic job! Nellie was such a brat Lol😂 she made the show a hit!
I'm going to purchase the entire set as soon as I have the chance. I never liked Nancy. Nellie had good moments before she changed for Percival. She was smiling and cheering and clapping for her father Nels, when Nels accepted Annabelle as his overweight sister in public. Nellie was also more concerned and innocent than Nancy, who was just evil on purpose.
Her antics were played brilliantly....the episode where she was writing out the answers to the exams for the Patrick laborteaux character is priceless, especially when her mother chases her home in the last scene
I am reading her delightful book. I can't put it down. I can't wait to read some more tonight. I read that some kids kicked her and knocked her down because she was dressed as Nellie for a community thing she and Kathryn McGregor went too. If kids believe she was really mean, she did a good job.
What I admire about her is how she's fought for the rights of Child Stars which I feel is needed now more than ever. According to the Jackie Coogan Law named after the Former Child Star 80% of their Earnings go into Trust but that Law is never if ever enforced. She also talked on Oprah (Where Are They Now?), about Sexual Abuse with Child Stars. She was abused herself but she didn't say anything. Alot of those 1970's Girls went through alot especially anorexia. Jill Whelan (Love Boat), Mary McDonough (Erin The Waltons) and even Susan Dey (Laurie The Partridge Family).
She can still do that adorable "nellie oleson plotting look" with those lovely big eyes & that great smile, the only thing missing is the longer hair & sausage curls. Great interview & yes, she is funny. Surprised that the oleson family didn't get a spinoff, they could've made it work. And it's a great thing that her & melissa are still friends. Laura started out as my favorite on the show, but nellie took over.
For years I didn't understand what went on behind the scenes on little house. I like what she did in support of the Aids community. She used the reputation she built up to force the repeal a bad law that injured children in California. I really like Nellie Olson and Alison Arngrim. Yes I listened to Alison Arngrim's reading of her book released in Audible.
Michael wasn't a saint, but "Pa," Charles Ingalls was. Ppl tend to confuse the 2. Michael was a heavy smoker and a drunk. I still love Michael. He had a terrible childhood and struggled to get his start in "Hollyweird." Miss Michael Landon, aka, Eugene Horowitz. RIP! 🙏🙏🙏💔💔💔😢😢😢
I'm currently reading Alison Arngrim book Confession of a Prairie bitch, that I checked out from library. I'm on chapter 10, of this book right now. 😮😮😮
I actually loved you in the Little House on the Prairie. You seemed so strong. I liked how you were able to speak your mind, but I somehow knew that a girl of the character of Nelly Olson seemed like she needed a good big sister. And Harriet was hilarious.
I would love to know what the deal was with Melissa Gilbert's brother. I have read that after the show ended and he turned 18, Jonathan Gilbert left home, moved to New York and never contacted his family ever again.
Willie was Laura's (Melissa's) brother in real life?😯 I never knew that and I did not know about the suicide either? I just lost my son in law and my cousin to suicide within a year apart😢

I just think she should grow her hair out instead of having a Man-cut
I love love love Alison Arngrim...I don't understand why people would dislike this interview.
She’s awesome.
One of the best interviews about a show. She’s honest quick and super interesting.

I wouldn't say that they were "villans" so much as they were entitled people. Nellie did make a change in the show once she met and married Percival.

She’s just great. Period. Not only that but she looks incredible. 👍👌👏
Show came out in my senior year of high school 1974, always liked it.
I would love a reboot, or a "continuation" with Laura and Nellie raising their families.

Wish they would have keep Nellie and Percival longer in the show. Just hated that they moved to New York. Sad to see them go. Love you Alison Arngrim.
Alison is so funny! Why hasn’t anyone cast her in sitcoms? Fun personality! Great interview! Love stuff like this.
