I love how even one of the best 800m runners in the world tells himself it’s only 2 minutes before the start of an 800 😂
2 mins of pain.
Legs: bro we ain't got time for 2 minutes.
@@mattlamb8949 na rly just 30 seconds of pain, that last 200 sucks ass
No he said just 2 minutes, as in he wanted to run 2 minutes
@@TrentonCS na lol u don’t run 15 seconds faster then expected lmao, it’s like saying just a minute when running a 400
Nah, I don't think the salute was too much. You earned it, you won the race. And is this just after you were battling a hamstring injury, right? Dude, that's a pretty big deal. Congratulations on the win!
Totally Agree...I dig the Boy Scout Salute, but Clayton needs to use the knife-like hands rendering the Full Salute next time. This video is the future. Totally Good for the Sport!
How the freak tho pacing. What. I goin 1 flat and I positive by 20+ seconds while they'd. Negative by 15 😐
@Ammon Hatch Sorry bro my auto correct was messing up, new to English eh 😁, Africa?
@Landon Delgado fade pigeon, this dude's got 15 kills
I hope people didn't like it. 😕 good. He won, he felt it, he "saluted".
When he said 25 minutes until the race, my heart drops the same way it does in my track season where actually running
You literally looked so smooth and relaxed with 400 to go you could just see it in everyone’s upper bodies that you were way more relaxed than them
idk I don’t really think that matters bc I also run very smooth but am equally as fatigued as someone who is struggling. It just looks better that’s all tbh
@@-guitarhero no you can tell by how hard someone is moving their arms if they Thor another gear with 200 to go
“Like where the helll they gonna get em fresh?!” 🤣🤣🤣
That was crazy, you should start racing more with a mic on. It was pretty cool just hearing what it was like inside of a race like that.
I’d be hella interested to here a mile or 2 mile, with all the bunches and people either saying words themselves or others
@@JacobMeza-pro-footballer lol what? Idk if it's just me but in races people dont really talk because they're going fast, except maybe cross country with a talented athlete
It’s crazy how so many people put their body through so much pain to run below 1:50 the average person don’t know how hard it is. Respect to you. I remember I ran 1:57 and felt like I was going to die
Fair play, I never got below 2 mins. My poor lungs can't take that kind of punishment 😄
Man I'm out here happy with a 2:15 in my Junior year of hs... lmao
I'm slow ik, hopefully I get some improvement next season
@@Triisttan what grade are u rn
@@Triisttan absolute same dude my first track year was this year (junior year) and started with a 2:39 in practice and ended szn w a 2:19 next year gotta be faster lol
I ran 2 flat and my my quads and hamstrings and glutes felt like they were tearing for 10 min after race
Yesssirrrr got a black queen 😭🤝!!!!!
Ngl It did not look like u would pass those 2 guys ahead but thst was a great kick
the balls to mic up for the race, my gosh what a legend
this is sick! need more mic’d up type of racing content from all athletes
That pole vaulter was so happy lol 9:15
Why did the pre race part give me anxiety lmao
I was sweating bullets dude
Some tips for a successful UA-cam channel:
1. impossibly tight speed suit
2. slow-mo frontal shots
3. some shots from the back
4. a lot of slo-mo bounce shots
5. maybe some more facial hair
6. if all else fails, more Devon Allen is always good
the gays will go wild
Aaayoo🥴
Bruh wtf 🤣🤣
“Don’t choose the 800, let the 800 choose you” that what happened to me this season and I went sub 2 for the first time
This is sick!! Such a cool idea to mic up during a race. I feel like this is gonna become a trend soon
Feels like we're trackside with you Clayton! Great insights, funny commentary, juicy edits, and an epic salute to top it off. You have the right blend of humility and swagger. *Keep this kind of content coming!*
Can't believe you were mic'd up in a race😭 but honestly thank you. It helps us more than you thing
Brings me back 50 years to when I ran the 1/2 mile in HS and college. Excellent run and fun to watch.
Shout out to the pole vaulter at 9:15 you know she just hit that PR let’s go congratulations to her
Love seeing all these comments!
Glad you guys like the video
Taking the selfies with fans and signing autographs was really cool of you. It's great to see people out and supporting the track athletes!
Taking running content to the next level. I'm sure hard to balance and stay focused. Great race, pretty obvious you thought 50 wasn't a good idea lol did your thing and executed that great kick. Congrats
New series - "Spiked up and Mic'd up" ? I'll take royalties for the name, US 11 in dragonflys and Small in kit ;)
im back baby 🤣🤣 love seeing the love you showed the teenagers also, keep going ‼️
CLAYTON! You wiley cayote you... Very smooth and not panicked at all. I would have been sweating bullets being so far behind at 400m, but you closed the gap real well... You are BACK indeed. CONGRATS
I felt the nerves while watching 😅
So proud of you babe!!! 🥰🥰
Love it!!! Congrats on the win.
That was a sick race, really liked the mic up, everything was on point and very exciting to watch.
Clayton, love watching you race! Thanks for bringing us along with you.
Glad to have you back man!
This was awesome to watch good luck Clayton!
I am loving these mic'd up videos. Keep it up!!
LOVED the mic'd up race my dude. Gotta do it again!
so happy to see that one and it was good when you did that salute cos you smashed it
great vid! It was great to see the whole race day experience from warm up to cool down
So happy for you man 🔥
Awesome race and banger vid!
I love the positive self talk. Great race Clayton.
this was such a fun video to watch and see your perspective!
Smooth running! Has anyone ever raced with a mic on before? That was a really awesome way to bring the fans inside the race from your perspective. Thanks for allowing all of us to enjoy that with you! I loved watching you interact with all of the track fans afterwards! I’ll be spectating at Worlds in Eugene-hope to see you tear it up 💪🏻
Your kick was insane damn
dude holy cow this is my favorite running video ive ever seen on youtube. the camera quality, the selftalk, everything was so cool to see. I appreciate this greatly
The salute was pretty awesome and timely! Congrats on the win.
Wow this is great content. It was interesting in all aspects: the insider's view, the editing and the race itself.
This was an awesome vlog. The mic'd up stuff was great. More of this in the future!
Clayton is my new fave track and field athlete. Amid all the post-race hubbub over his victory, he manages to express his feelings and admiration for multi-world champion triple jumper, Christian Taylor, who is making a comeback from what would have been a career-ending injury for 99% of "ordinary" athletes. My prediction: Mr. Murphy still has much more success coming in his future. Go, Clayton!
Definitely one of, if not my favorite video you’ve posted out. Love to see more of this on race day for sure
The speed suit works !
NEW UNIFORM LOOKING AWSOME specially in this speedsuit
Awesome couple.
Most of luck to the both of you!
loved this, really enjoyed hearing your thoughts
Nice insight - really cool. Best of luck for 2022!
That close was insane !!!! Like that it was mic Ed up too getting to hear the race.
Wanna see more mic’d up vids! Keep it up! Content is amazing! Congrats on the win 🔥
Seriously one of the coolest running videos I’ve ever seen. More of this kind of thing please Clayton! Nice win too, Sanchez n Saruni are legit.
Incredible video, so well crafted
Oh s hit!!!! Great race, congrats
Let's go Clayton! The new content is looking great already!
Honestly, I though you would be the quiet stern type, but after watching this, I notice my expectations where way off. Nice race! Good video! Good luck for the rest of the season!
What a kick!!! Amazing job dude
Just found your channel, I love it. I just started running the 800 in my first collegiate season this year so I’ll definitely be watching you more (to be the best you have to learn with from the best!).
Congrats
I like the salute! Great video!!!
excellent Job - Back in the saddle!
we need this!!
You are definitely my favourite runner, the mic'd up videos are the best.
Great teaching video. Showing it to my HS middle distance runners. Clayton, we love you, brother!

That was an insane kick!
Incredible vid.
Great brother king
Amazing vid such a cool perspective
Such a cool video
Tough tough race (the 800), well done.
Amazing video
thank you for mic'ing up and bringing us in for the ride!!! It was awesome. I wondered if having the mic on or worrying about social media would distract you, but it seems to have not. HOW ABOUT WEARING A GO-PRO NEXT TIME????
I think this race was a rlly good show of fitness early on. Big things coming for sure
You are one of a kind, great athlete great person
Great kick!
The good luck charm was the Fleetwood Mac shirt...love it!
Great race and can’t wait to see some crazy PRs! Can you do a video on how your training and mentality changed to heal ur hamstring injury?
That kick!
My runner son had the honor of meeting Murphy and Dave Wottle. Gold medal winner Wottle? Awesome man. Murphy? Wottle was awesome.
Alex is the goat for filming/editing this
