- On this hike we visit the Nantahala National Forest near Franklin, North Carolina. This was a loop hike called the Standing Indian Loop. This 21 mile loop consisted of 3 trails, Long Branch Trail for 2 miles, The Appalachian Trail (South Bound) for 15 miles and the Lower Ridge Trail for 4 miles. The start and finish of the hike was a baking lot just outside the Standing Indian Campground. There were several good look outs, Albert Mountain, a few trail look outs and Standing Indian Mountain, but for about 75% of the hike we were in the green tunnel.
Really impressed with all the training you guys did, before taking on the 100 Mile Wilderness.
Some of my friends don't appreciate heights either!
