Here’s the thing that I feel like a lot of people aren’t mentioning… all post season, Knoblauch and the oilers have been adapting. Taking a bit of time to figure out the strategies. We saw it in the Dallas series where you made a video about their “beer league strategy”. A couple games later, that issue was dealt with. When I watch post game interviews with Paul Maurice, the only thing he said about last night was “we have to switch out guys faster on the PK”. Obviously he’s not going to divulge to the media what his strategy is… but it seems to me like Florida isn’t adapting. That comment to me just says “we have to play better” instead of “we’ll adjust our play to counter”. And that’s why the oilers are finding a way to win. Cause let’s be honest, I don’t think Bob (and the rest of the panthers) can play any better than he did the first three games. With that being said, they play their style of hockey very well. And they are a very good team. Nothing but respect for them… but to me it seems like they are being out coached right now.
edmonton rushing the blue line, then angling over to pressure the puck carrier on the PK is absolutely brilliant, and i freakin love it. they do it with such consistency too, and its beautiful. completely take away the cross ice D to D shift and control ok the pk, and if they try the pass anyway it is a high danger pass that can be picked into what we've witnessed already.

This is why I love this channel. I didn’t notice 91 peeling off 97 with 20 seconds left!! Why the hell would he just give up on the play?? I guess that’s the kind of mental/fatigue errors that a playoff grind will do to you.
I can't figure it out either. Did he think that the net was dislodged? Did he mistakenly hear a whistle? Did he just not see McDavid? That was at around 17 seconds left, would that have been enough for Florida to get down the ice and score anyway?

I agree completely. What's usually lost is that this is Skinner's second true post season, Bouch's 3rd. There's some young kids that are big parts of the Oilers future that are playing so well early in their careers.

Those SHGs have been absolute killers for the Panthers these past couple of games. Both times those goals absolutely energized the Oilers and they were able to establish a comfortable lead quickly, forcing the Panthers to play catch-up instead of playing their game. However, I did like the response of the Panthers in period 2 and 3. That’s they intensity and style they need to play if they want to raise Lord Stanley over their head. If they can establish the tone to start and get settled in on Friday, they have a good shot. It was good to see Tkachuk begin to heat up. I think Erod being on that line was what was needed to get them going. They were everywhere last night. Now if only the top line could elevate their play.

Edmonton needs to keep the foot on the gas pedal to win this series. Even if they're up by 7 goals, they need to play the same fast and aggressive game. As soon as they take the foot off the pedal they get caught flat footed. Skinner has been electric in net this series, the guys in front just need to keep putting the puck in the net at the other end.
Love your work and i think you missed how Perry ended up in front of the net for the McDangle assist. I believe Nurse yelled at him to jump on the ice.
That game was frickin amazing. I repent that a team from the Western conference was about to lose this series. It was Florida’s series to win, and they couldn’t keep Edmonton in a box; oil now going everywhere. Game six to be a nail biter
Beautiful breakdown, bro! The dangles setting up Perry's goal were epic! My opinion...the longer the series goes the more pressure there is on Florida. I smell a choke coming on after the Oilers take game 6.
The oilers had amazing momentum the first half of this game and they played great the whole game really however the Panthers definitely seemed to regain their footing. It will really come down to whether the Oilers can drum up that energy they had for game 6. I could really see anything happening here but either panthers come back hard in game 6 or its going to be a hard fought battle for another oilers win.
Oilers in 7. It is part of the story for the Oilers entire year. Start 2-9-1 and then turn it on to make it to the Stanley cup playoffs and get to the Cup Finals. Then go down 3-0 in said final to then come back and win it all. The final series mirrors the regular season to finish the amazing story.
FYI, your analysis videos, along with Jeff Marek's "Hey Birkie!" series, are the only ones to suck in my spouse, who thoroughly enjoys the context nobody else provides as cleanly as you. Thank you.
Edmonton’s third line is putting in some really productive shifts - that *has* to be giving Florida headaches. Credit to the Panthers: they controlled a good chunk of the 2nd and most of the 3rd, so the Oilers may have to weather a storm in the opening few minutes Friday. The Edmonton crowd might be a difference maker.
Yep. 2-1. They also went 1-0 (PK vs PP) with Dallas. And they killed all 10 against LAK. It’s maybe ironic that VAN’s biggest question mark this season was their PP yet they managed to get 3 in their series against EDM haha
i swear any time an oilers player gets a break away they turn into prime Gretzky and score. Mcdavid also decided that he WANTS the cup. Tkachuk also played an incredible game and deserves some credit... OEL absolutely ruined that empty net save
Whatever happens, McD is the Smythe winner. He reminds me of Derek Jeter or Michael Jordan. What a game it was, and what a game is coming up on Friday.
The Panthers are looking like the 2011 Vancouver Canucks. They started out as the better team, but they've alowed the Oilers back into the series, with Bob becoming human at the worst possible time.
Yeah that Terminator got caught and is now being lowered into the molten metal. Go Edmonton, we need Stanley to return home! That being said, it's been a great series and I'm more or less fine with whomever wins. Florida winning is better than Montreal, Ottawa, or Toronto lol.
You're the first person I've seen give OEL some grief for completely giving up on Tkachuk's play. Insane hustle and the OEL just mails it in for McDavid to do what he does. Pretty disrespectful to Tkuchuk's effort, IMO.
As a Dallas fan who team has been eliminated by the eventual Stanley cup champions the last 3 years, let's continue the trend and see the reverse sweep. TBH I wanted to see McDavid lift the cup as soon as it was over for the Stars.
I know I’m late, but that moment at 1:47 gave me shivers as a Sens fan. On the goal that killed the franchise, Ottawa’s fourth line was out to shut down the Pittsburgh chances. One play, typical D to D from the Penguins was ALMOST broken up the same way, by, I believe, either Stalberg or Pyatt. That would’ve prevented Chris Kunitz’s goal, and given Ottawa a breakaway. Seeing Brown, a former Senator, do the same thing and succeed, just gives such a “what could have been” feeling.
I asked for 7 and was super pumped going into this matchup. It instead headed for a sweep so I switched to being all in for the embarassment to the Oilers. Then the Oilers take 2 and look like they could pull a reverse and now I'm all for the embarassment of the Cats. Just being a pure NHL fan with no horse in this race is the biggest blessing of all. Oh that and this community to chat about it with. Lets gooo Game 6!!! Bring us a barn-burner pls

Thank you.
Oilers better win the cup and not let McDavids legendary run go to waste
Edmonton’s third line is putting in some really productive shifts - that *has* to be giving Florida headaches. Credit to the Panthers: they controlled a good chunk of the 2nd and most of the 3rd, so the Oilers may have to weather a storm in the opening few minutes Friday. The Edmonton crowd might be a difference maker.
man, the fanbase will be the 7th player for Edmonton...
It makes me so proud and yet so sick at the same time.
I could be wrong but the Oilers PK has more goals than the Panthers PP.
Yep. 2-1.
They also went 1-0 (PK vs PP) with Dallas.
And they killed all 10 against LAK.
It’s maybe ironic that VAN’s biggest question mark this season was their PP yet they managed to get 3 in their series against EDM haha
I was at the edge of my seat when Florida scored their 3rd goal and I was jumping up and down when Mcdavid got the empty net 😁😁
Been waiting for your vid after last night’s game.
Imagine if the Oilers actually came back and won? And what it would do for McDavids legacy. Crazy
bringing up that last graphic was a low blow man...
Im very new to Hockey and these breakdowns have been helping me out so much
Only thing you didn’t mention was that for that God like play, McDavid was over 2 minutes into his shift
I don't think they'll manage it, but by god do I want Edmonton to win this. (I live in Quebec by the way)
i swear any time an oilers player gets a break away they turn into prime Gretzky and score. Mcdavid also decided that he WANTS the cup.
Tkachuk also played an incredible game and deserves some credit... OEL absolutely ruined that empty net save
I'm convinced that Connor McDavid is some sort of crazy hockey leprechaun.
I think the series is crazy. I got Edmonton in game seven to 2 to 1 let’s go Edmonton
We just witnessed it again go Oilers 💙🧡
The special teams discrepancy is starting to show; 5-1 special teams goals for Edmonton including 2 shorthanded goals.
Man I'm early. Loving this series and your analysis
Whatever happens, McD is the Smythe winner. He reminds me of Derek Jeter or Michael Jordan. What a game it was, and what a game is coming up on Friday.
dont think ive ever been so excited for a game in my life. Lets go OILERS AND KING CONNOR !!!!!!!!!!!!
Great video! First NHL UA-cam channel I've ever subscribed to, thanks for your hard work, keep it up :)
Such a fun game
Best game in years!!
Florida getting absolutely bullied on THIER powerplay is wild to me.
The rangers did that to them as well
You're the first person I've seen give OEL some grief for completely giving up on Tkachuk's play. Insane hustle and the OEL just mails it in for McDavid to do what he does. Pretty disrespectful to Tkuchuk's effort, IMO.
Tkachuk dives full stretch for the stunner save, and OEL coasting in like time ran out already.
@@pumpkinpatch3792 he didn't realize tkachuk saved it
Fantastic content. Subscribed. In pure entertainment, Oilers fans are already winners, even if they’re not eventually THE winners.
McDavid about to get his own bridge next🤣🔥🔥
Great explanation on Connor’s goal on Bob !! Cyborg indeed McCUP
As a Dallas fan who team has been eliminated by the eventual Stanley cup champions the last 3 years, let's continue the trend and see the reverse sweep. TBH I wanted to see McDavid lift the cup as soon as it was over for the Stars.
i was joking during this playoff run that i should buy a connor brown jersey. now i just might have to.
I want this series to be best of 11
Great vids bro
I love watching Florida's fans hold thier breath
Best hockey breakdown content out on the interwebz 🧡💙👏🙌✨
Connor Brown. Another ex Leafs going further than he ever would have in Toronto. Love that.
Not only would it cement Connor's legacy, it would be one of the greatest sport stories of all time
GAME 7!!!! 😵💫😵💫 ITS HAPPENING!
