Shouldn't the teakettle have a cover ? Lots and lots of heat lost without the cover ?
I have a electric gooseneck kettle, and love it. Best for pouring for tea, and especially for pour over coffee pots. At times we have power failures, and use the gas stove for heating water on a regular kettle. Electric kettles are much much more faster.
Every house in the UK has an electric Kettle; the kettle on the gas stove should be covered to retain heat, and it will boil the water faster.
But every house in the UK has one because we drink a lot of tea.
The standard UK voltage is 240v, whereas the United States standard voltage is 120v. Thus, kettles boiled faster in the UK which is another reason why we use it on a gas kettle
If the pot on the stove has a small diameter base, then more heat from the flame goes around the sides, and it is difficult to place on the metal grates. Water kettles usually are wide. When I need to use the stovetop, I heat water in a saucepan on a burner without the diffuser cap which creates a jet of flame in the center.

Maybe if you put the cover on the teakettle in the stove, it may boil faster. 😁
In England, they use electric kettles all the time and not just for tea.... They use them anytime you need to boil water. Such as Pasta, rice, or vegetables ect..
They also have 220v electric outlets which allows for a higher wattage than the 120v we have in the USA. British kettles are going to be faster than what we can buy in the USA.

Total scammer. You compare your "covered" very wide base electric kettle this a small teapot that has a small base, which does not distribute the heat evenly. Try using wide but short 1.5 quart covered pot and put the flame on high. Water boils in 2 minutes.
