I know exactly what you mean. My Tr181 had an epic sound at forte or less. It had a beautiful rich sound. As soon as you try and put some air in the horn to get to FF or more, especially in the low range the horn just breaks down.

Not too hard if they have a tube expander. You'd have to be careful, since you still want it to move!
