The appeal of MerryBytes to me is coverage of mongames and obscure/japan exclusive GameBoy games. I was able to experience the Medarot games vicariously through these videos, which convinced me to give them a try. Some games I would like to see in 2023 are Medarot Navi, Koto Battle, God Medicine, The Frog For Whom the Bell Tolls, Robopon, Bistro Recipe, Card Hero, Command Master, Zok Zok Heroes, Devil Children, Bugsite.
Robopon at least is happening this year. There's a few others I plan on making eventually, though I don't have a concrete time yet.
Aw man, can I add Golden Sun to that already excellent list?

Merry, your videos are superb and I find myself watching other videos you've made despite never hearing about the game in the video. It's not the topic, it's you. You have a very charismatic and clever personality. I can hear you talk about stuff you like all night, and I have throughout a lot of 2022. It was a tough year for me too but your videos helped getting through the year just a little bit easier. Thank you.

Finished the video I have some more things I would like to say.
I recommend that your patreon does have perks with each tier I have seen a lot of different patreons out there and overwhelmingly the most successful are the ones with some sort of perk at each tier after years of the patreon being in video descriptions and video end titles they will have an initial high rise and then a slow unchangeable decline. I think the main reason for this is because it is at the end of the day a monetary method and if a monetary method is not properly utilized the potential donator or patron will have less incentive to do so despite content coming out slightly better, I have seen million subscriber channels have less than a hundred patrons and 30k Channels have a thousand and it simply always feel like an abandoned waste of space if nothing is there,
It's better to set up perks for your patreon now rather than later changing your mind and your viewers giving backlash against you.
It's not shilling out its ensuring there is an income stream and that people feel some kind of reward for their contribution.

Hey Merry, might I suggest matching the cost of, for example, a Twitch subscription as the highest tier package?
That amount per month isn't a problem for me, and I know via Patreon you'd get a much fairer cut of the funds than if it was an actual Twitch sub.

@@MerryBytes ehh, perks don't matter for me. In my experience with Twitch, you put money down to support the efforts going on, you generally don't expect anything in return (though that is always nice to get some usable emotes or whatever).
For the context of Patreon, maybe you could do a short (under 5 min) quarterly Patreon video or something, anything that doesn't cut into your current channel obligations would be just fine.
At the end of the day the reward for contributing is more content :D
I've thought about doing something like that actually, some sort of Vlog videos or behind the scenes stuff about video production or just life in general, though it was an extra thing on a second channel. We'll see. Thank you for the suggestion!

I havent watched the whole video yet but I used to avidly watch, and I fell off a bit these last 4 months. Reason being the videos are really getting harder to watch as visually the editing seems to be very patterned in a bad way, I just don't feel the same motivation to watch the actual visual part of the video because it feels almost static to me nothing that really engaged me, I would say the video is not as dynamic and hasn't overall changed too much since the start of the channel.
So, then I started playing the audio while I played other games and then it became audio, I would fall asleep to and then I just didn't play it because other videos I found better to fall asleep to.
My suggestions are more risky video editing, A better microphone and more obscure Pokémon titles rather than main series.

@@MerryBytes Good to know that, as I prefer this "niche" type of videos you make rather than those types that "bigger" youtubers make that are look bland and copy pasted (but sadly work well for ytb$)
And about cost of living, I myself had to move to Frankfurt Germany half a year ago, it is hard as I only understand basic language but still it is easier for me here. Only think that scares me now is that the prices will STAY they are now, as the food companies had massive revenue from sales in 2022. So they will not do anything to loose that extra $
Yeah, prices have a tendency to only go one way, and it's up. The European Central Bank predicts that inflation will slow down this year since the energy situation is stabilizing, so that's something to look forward to.

I would really like to know when the patreon comes out, rather than a silent release. I want to know and help monetarily support you as soon as it's possible. I also would urge you, from a financial standpoint, to offer some rewards for patrons. I want this to work for you and for you to have more income from your work, and frankly people are just way less likely to give money for nothing. I will, I'm a fucking weirdo. But even if all you offer is like, a $3 tier-only monthly video that's just you rambling about your hobbies or something, or access to the scrips of videos after they come out, something which would ideally take very little time and effort to give, I think that would increase the likelihood of success from your patreon.
I mean this only as my own suggestion, and hope it doesn't come across as too pushy or demanding. Ultimately it's your project, your life. You do what you want. I hope whatever happens, that life improves for you, and all of us who share this world.
Except people who like Pokemon X+Y's plot.
Thanks, I appreciate the suggestions. Making some extra videos rambling about random stuff is something I've toyed with before, but haven't actually made anything. It's something I'll have to think about. No feet pics though.
