Dior will always be my favourite since 2001. I still have my vintage Dior pieces from the 70s 80s and the early 2000’s that are rare and which most people don’t have. Hype or not they are superb and quality and design.

Omg. I 😘 loved this video. Just a week ago, I de decided to never buy Louis Vuitton handbags due to the ridiculous and outrageous price increases. It's just not worth it to me anymore. I feel the same way you do. I am 60 years old. When I was younger I was obsessed with labels and brands. Now I stick with more affordable brands and they last a long time the quality is great and I didn't have to spend more than I could afford. I love Tory Burch, I love coach, I love Converse gym shoes, I love UGG, I love YSL, I love Senreve Handbags. There are many great quality bags out there. We have to remember that we have to do what is best for us and not what others are doing on UA-cam. 💕 your videos.

I feel the same way about Louis Vuitton I haven’t bought a bag in two years and went looking for a men’s tote and instantly was turned off by how ridiculously expensive the price points are now (atleast the men’s bags).

I respect you setting limits for yourself. I disagree about Chanel being worth it though. A mini rectangular is not worth $4k. Their prices have gone through the roof while their quality has steadily declined.
Agreed, although I happen to love Chanel shoes, I think their bags are old lady-ish (but not in a good way) & one of Sergio's Chanel bags reminds me of a sleeping bag...not just ugly, but URGLY!!
Chanel is ridiculously overpriced. Dior bags are works of art. Chanel bags are boring.

I considered Dior after the Chanel price increase last year. I was also in love with the straps. For what it is, canvas straps, the increase is 🤯 just speechless. I’m glad you realize you didn’t want the tote bag and sell it while it’s still in great shape and now when it’s still in demand!

I feel you regarding the price point, but to me started with Chanel, then I move to Dior, but lately, they are following the price increase craziness like Chanel, I think 3k is also my limit for paying luxury items in general right now. even tho in the past I paid more for Chanel, but the quality really not worth the price. I will still be buying Dior costume jewellery, ready to wear and shoes but not their bags.
I completely agree with you. These designers are becoming exceptionally GREEDY. Like Why would they even charge $3000+ for a stupid handbag, unless it has 22k Gold and/or gems on it. They pay next to nothing getting their products made, & sell them at over a 1000% markup. People need to wake up & stop supporting these designers that are ripping us off. The same goes for APPLE!

Well said, Sergio. You made two great points: discretion and price point. I've always loved Dior, but like you I don't want to walk around advertising labels, they simply don't pay me enough Lol! Yes I remember when it was at northpark but it’s better to be in hp! I went from the mindset of if I’m paying over a certain amount it should be logo and people should know what it is & now I buy things for quality and minimal looks 🤍

I just purchased the grey embroidered small book tote that is absolutely stunning. I got it before the price increase. Customer service is always exceptional. And I agree, I am over the monogram.
Dior is just so overpriced!! Some of their hand bags (Lady Dior for example) don’t do so well if someone decides to let go and put in the resell market. I may buy accessories, but not their bags.
Yeah resell value is bad. Thats why we should only buy dior bag if we want to keep it as a forever piece.. not for investment or resell
I completely understand regarding the monogram - I used to love monogramed things, but I bought my first Louis Vuitton in the monogram print and I just was totally uninterested in it due to the monogram. I think the bags are beautiful, it's just no longer me. Love your videos :)

Have you consider getting a hermes bag in the future. One you own a birkin or a kelly is like no going back to any other brand.
I agree the recent price increases are too much, especially for canvas items. However I always find it odd when people say they would rather spend that money on Chanel which is even more overpriced. Also Dior leather bags (and some other brands) have superior quality to Chanel in my opinion. I think all the brands are trying to keep up with one another so you are right we will have to set boundaries on what we think is worth it.
I hear you regarding these price increases. For me my recent conclusion is I will no longer purchase a luxury bag that isn’t leather. Just not worth it.
I totally see your point. But canvas last so much better than leather. I own both and my canvas bags have been worn to death and they almost have no wear...but my lleather bags show wear and tear. But I agree with Sergio in regards to the price increases.. it's just ludacris at this point. I too have taken a step back and reaching more for midrange like coach and TB.

Hi..is the threading on your MK Soho bag very visible? I ordered one in a different colour, but the very distinct threading makes the bag seem cheap & tacky. Very disappointed!
I think that's exactly the reason why you should keep the bag. The increasing price that is. Culturally and sociologically it is an interesting bag. I mean, turning an ordinary canvas shopping bag, which it really is, into something luxury, to show off your wealth. That makes this bag a cultural icon. I mean, not for wearing. I understand where you're coming from and not wanting to be a walking advertisement for a brand (and they're not even paying you for this, you are paying them). But think 10, 20 years ahead. Then looking back at the 2010's when this bag emerged. It'll have bigger value in like 20 years. Because probably then people are thinking: what were they thinking? It is an ordinary canvas shopping bag! But this bag tells a lot about contemporary society, about us today. This will have value in the future. Especially when Dior as a brand still will exist, and probably in 20 years Dior will also have more vegan stuff in its collection, or like lab made leather for which no animal had to die. This canvas tote is already vegan. So by being made out of canvas it also fits a trend, a trend which will only grow bigger in decades to come. Environmentally friendly, animal-friendly etc. Dior's canvas products show Dior's first step developing towards the concept of vegan products. See Stella McCartney's fake leather (or nicely said: faux leather) bags. They're a big hit. Dior also knows that leather is getting less and less popular with newer generations. Just like fur is also passé. So don't get rid of the bag, if you don't need the money. This bag is a cultural signifier. It is a frist trend within Dior. The bag is an interesting item, not for its beauty or its practicality but for all the other reasons I mentioned before.
I agree 1000% Sergio. I am over the overpriced monogram canvas items. I want quality functional pieces. I want to feel good about my purchases, not ripped off.

I was thinking the same thing when it came to this oblique print, I just feel like it’s not special anymore. I’m looking at the book tote in leather bc it’s simple and classic, and it will last way longer than the canvas one.

I have 2500 set aside for the new dior mens bag. I almost checkout. I stopped myself and said....what am I doing. I could get other bags for cheap. So I bought a Balenciaga bag for 1100.

I just bought the large Dior oblique book tote... the only problem I have is, some small loose threads on the letters... but I looked at 5 different totes and they all had loose threads on different areas on the bag, mostly on the letters... my SA said it is normal and to leave it alone... he also said that if the thread should loosen up more that I have a warranty on the bag and they would send it to Paris to get it repaired... so 🤔

Greetings from Hong Kong, people in my city are luxury brand crazy, and a lot of these brands open stores here. I am currently in my 50s, I believe what you went through is an inner awakening, or a transition (good for you), that you want to connect yourself to other things in life (and other brands with more subtle designs). Dior does some beautiful bags, but it is too true that their price increase is just beyond reasonable, and why should we buy into their games? I wish you happiness, good health and peace, and keep on exploring and trying different things (and bags)
I love Dior- Dior of the Galliano era! Like a big fat old spider I keep lurking in the internet waiting for a beautiful bag from this time coming up at a very good price and when I spot one I´ll pounce. The prices I am willing to pay are far from what a recent Dior bag costs. I couldn´t justify the recent prices and honestly wouldn´t even know which model of bag- except for a few from the Lady Dior Art limited edition- to buy in the boutique if I had endless funds... The old ones are the ones that are me!

I think the prices hikes are ridiculous. I love the Lady Dior and hope to have one someday but at this point if I were going to spend that much on a bag id rather just have a chanel bag that would never leave my collection - but chanel price hikes are getting insane and at that point you might as well buy from hermes...
Hi! I have the small book tote in the kaleidiorscopic tote and i love it. I think i wouldnt love it as much if it was monogrammed. I get a lot of complements when wearing it. But bow i cannot keep up with price increases. And i agree with you that logomania was a time but now minimalism is so good. I have been investing in the mini jodie and the pouch 20. My next wish is the paper pouch or the cork pouch. Even the row and staud is very very attractive to me. They are very easy to fit in a wardrobe and the materials are wonderful. Sergio you like to shop, look for things and find bargains. Do you currently invest? I started using Robin Hood, then opened up a Roth IRA and now branching off to Crypto. But I have such particular taste and love researching and it has helped me move away from material purchases and watch my money grow. I feel like you may enjoy it.
I saw the price increase. They are suffering ( all brands) from the tourist lockdown. They want locals to pay off the difference.
Wealthy rarely buy monogram items. They know they got money and not trying to advertise or prove anything to anyone. At least you used and got good use. I'm proud of the growth. That money can be invested and make you money

Hello! I can totally relate. I really wanted the large lady Dior but now it’s will be over $6000 with taxes. Not sure it’s really worth that. Well I know it’s not worth it because they sell for half on the pre-love market.

I think the price point for a book tote in fabric and not even leather is actually crazy lol don't get me wrong I do love the oblique monogram print and it's timeless but I can't justify the price for a fabric bag! I think covid has also had an effect on all brands hence a price increase across the board - shops closed they still have to pay staff who work for them and store rents etc
I love Dior but their prices are out of control. I have the book tote in the around the world print and I won’t be getting rid of it but I’m going to have to seriously think before getting something else. I really want the large lamb skin lady Dior but at those prices I can get a Chanel.

All brands will keep raising prices. You just have to decide as you said what your cut off is for price and stick to that. People complain but it’s simple, just don’t buy it. Lol After my classic flap years ago I was done with chanel bags.
I’ve been enjoying Fendi, Ysl and other brands which you can find new on the preloved market for less or on sale.
I think you should wait for another price increase so you can resale for what you bought it for..

Glad you’ve decided to get rid of the tote. It won’t hold its value as much as the Saddle bag anyway and the tote fad is fading.
The Dior fabric designs on the book totes are gorgeous, but the price is hard for me to understand or to spend so much on uncoated canvas. While I prefer the aesthetic of the bag, it just cannot stand the test of time being all in fabric. At least LV bags are typically coated and have leather trim. For me, it is only worth spending that amount of money on a bag that will last in material, construction and style.
I’m not into monogram either I have a couple LV pieces and that’s it
