    Thank you for this.
I had one removed from my chest 15 years ago it was the size of a softball. It had pressed against the upper part of my left lung.
The surgeon said it was attached to the Vegas nerve. I have had a cough this whole time. In addition it is like it goes through cycles of having issues with my legs, then that stops and I have pains in my back for a bit, then it is my feet and so on and on different parts of my body has pain, tingling or something to let me know it is there. The surgeon said that it was very possible that it damaged the nerve

This is very informative. I had a Schwannoma on my esophagus and had to have it removed at UAB. It was a very scary thing because it severely restricted my airway.

Thank You Dr Elder for this informative video! Nearly 3 years ago I developed vertical double vision which progressively worsened. Through MRI was diagnosed with a rare Trochlear Schwannoma. After visits to Mayo Clinic and Barnes in St Louis, I have been told that the location adjacent to the brain stem makes surgery impossible and radiation very dangerous. I was sent home to tackle on my own with diet and natural remedies. The tumor which double in size from MRI 1 to MRI 2 has now been dormant and unchanged for MRI 3 and MRI 4. Have you heard of any natural approaches to shrinking a schwannoma? I'm very blessed for the growth to have stopped but am interested in reversing the process.

I have a facial nerve neuroma that has erodid part of my masdoid bone and ear canal, blocking the ear canal. I have mild hearing loss as a result. I at present have no symptoms to do with the face. They can not remove it as very lightly will cause facial palsy and would cause some symptoms of the face. Its very rare that they can remove it. Every persons situation is different.

    Thank you, very informative.
I had very rare Shwannoma cell carcinoma in tongue base in 2021. Had chemo and radiotherapy and no sign of cancer now, however I do have a problem in my left ear which began 6 years ago causing vertigo, upper left jaw pain, feeling of ear fullness, occassional distortion of sound in left ear and visual problems with vertigo attacks such as flashing, blurring and kalediscope vision during attacks. Do you think this may be Schwannoma in the 8th cranial nerve?

Good explanation, but next time get some color pens, and do the visual aids in detail, on paper instead of spending ages drawing basic diagrams.

I enjoyed your educational video. It is at a level where I can understand. I do have a heath care background when I was working.
    I have NF1 and I am 53 (ill be 54 next month)
I am having some health issues, I know you can't be specific about my situation but I would like to know more general information.
Last year I was diagnosed with Ovarian, uterine, and small intestinal cancers. The intestinal cancer were GIST. The other were adenocarcinoma but all were considered separate malignancies occurring at the same time.
During the process a growth was found to be in my neck ion the same CT Scans used to diagnose the other cancers.
Over the course of time until now I have been given two separate potential diagnoses.
Dr Endocrinology said it was a carotid paraganglioma. He seemed confident and he was good at explaining his findings. (based on ultrasound images)
Dr ENT said it was a tumor on my vagal nerve. He seemed confident, yet arrogant and talked down to me and wasn't as good about explaining his findings. (based on CT scans)
I saw Dr ENT this month and Dr Endocrinology about 4 months ago.
The original finding last year the growth was estimated at 26mm, four months ago it was 29mm and this month it was 33mm.
The only reason I changed physics was because insurance wouldn't cover the Endocrinologist or the surgery. He was out of the system.
I'm worried because the "thingy" is growing and I don't seem to be able to get a diagnosis nor treatment. I've known about it for about a year or a little more now.

I have a Schwannoma in the sciatic nerve in my knee in the popliteal fossa. A neurosurgeon in the Nashville area told me that he is not the guy to remove this and referred me to the Vanderbilt Health Orthopedic department. I have not yet met with a Vandy Health Orthopedic surgeon. Is a Schwannoma removed by a Neurologist or an Orthopedist? I was a bit surprised that the Neurologist could not remove it and he suggested that nobody in his practice could remove it. He said that he could remove it but there would be a good chance that if he did it that there could be issues such as numbness in my leg for the rest of my life. I don't want that.

I just had a biopsy of a pelvic mass (sacrum). It was determined to be a cellular Schwannoma. It is about 3 CM in size. Should I have it removed surgically? I am 74 years old.

Thank you for this informative video, Dr. Elder. I have had several cutaneous Schwannoma tumors occurring on my eye, my arm, and my shoulder area, all causing very uncomfortable and even sometimes debilitating nervous system responses. I have no other health conditions (that I know of) and only pay for catastrophic insurance and have had the tumors removed paying out-of-pocket. I have never had an MRI or any further testing, other than the standard pathology report which comes with the removal of the tumors. I am wondering what your opinion on the Covid vaccine would be, relative to someone with this nervous system disorder? Since it is such a rare disorder, I can find no truly informative guidance in this area. Thank you for your time in advance.

Thank you for your response, unfortunately I cannot give any medical advice and I don’t have any information on how someone with your condition would respond to the COVID vaccine.

Hi, I had a Schwannoma removed from my leg 6 years ago. Not many people knew about it on those days. I have hearing loss for the last 25 years and getting worst. Was wondering can it be related to that? Or how can it be checked? Thanks

I have one on the 4th nerve causing diplopia. This is my third round of diplopia where is presents itself for 6 months and goes away for 6 months each time. I'm confused by this may be getting better than worse again instead of being constant?

Hello KrazyKramer 3 years ago I was diagnosed with a Trochlear Schwannoma, due to its location at the brain stem I have been told twice it is inoperable. Love to hear more about your story, my understanding is that Trochlear Schwannomas are very rare, maybe only 50 have ever been diagnosed worldwide Thanks Kelly

Hello. What nerves would be affected if a schwannoma grew around cervical spine 2 & 3? Also any theories or ideas why they pop up?

    • @DrEldersAnatomyChannel
      @DrEldersAnatomyChannel  Рік тому

I don’t quite understand your question. It would be the C2 and C3 spinal nerves. Schwannomas affect the PNS so it shouldn’t grow in the spinal cord. The spinal cord, being part of the CNS would more likely be affected by Oligodendrocytomas

    Hello sir
My father is hearing some kind of noise inside his right ear,so we took a scan, the result
( Right ear: moderate to profound sloping sensorineural hearing loss form 500Hz to 8kHz (mixed component at 1kHz) with normal hearing at 250Hz
Left ear : hearing sensitivity within normal limits from 250Hz to 4kHz with mild hearing loss at 8kHz ) but he has no Diabetes.
    And again I took M R I scan also
    The result
(Considering the clinical history most likely diagnosis is an acoustic schwannoma of right side)
So what should I Do Doctor?
    I'm waiting your reply?

    • @DrEldersAnatomyChannel
      @DrEldersAnatomyChannel  2 роки тому

Myxoma is a condition in which there are tumors of connective tissue and is a problem with growing tumors in the heart. Schwannomas are tumors of the cells that make myelin which covers axons on nerves
