For anyone still weary, here's an in-depth explanation. Please keep in mind that anything I put in all caps is me emphasizing important points, not yelling. Here's how to bomb recover and never waste a Wondering (side B) for recovering. When in the air, down B with your analog analog stick straight down. Often people drift to early causing them to B reverse it. So be patient. Remember to down B with the stick in the bottom notch (for gamecube) and THEN drift towards the bomb. Now to catch it, you need to be patient yet again. Drift towards the bomb, let go of the stick and press GRAB. Not an arial attack. Remember when you grab, to ONLY press grab. This includes the analog stick. Do not move it when pressing grab. Now, immediately up B. When you up B, you have enough time to fully charge it. After your up B, air dodge UP immediately. Now here's what most people don't know. >>> The direction you are blown up indicates which way you are facing.
Realistically speaking, you'll never have to go beyond one grenade unless you're either really *really* in need of that level of mixup, or are timer stalling. But it's still really good to know all of this info, so thanks for the post.
For those asking how to grab an item at 2:36 without inputting any other action, Tap your grab button as if it was a short hop. Press it for too long and you airdodge. Tapping it grabs the item only.
Actually I believe it’s an air dodge and not a directional air dodge, not that it matter the amount of frames the grab buttons was held down for (at least that’s what it works like for me)
I’ve had fun doing a jab lock, dash away, and side B. It probably doesn’t work for roll away but I do something similar with Inkling’s jab lock (dashing away and then using roller) and it works for me.
I found another true combo for down throw. If you dash and upsmash as they jump out of the bury you can catch them. Kinda like ROB’s down throw up air combo.
If you land with the outer hit of up air at around 60% it combos into f-smash. Was testing on Roy so I don't know how consistent it is on the cast, but it's a fun confirm to get
Good combo videos / character tutorials are always great for the community. Something I would really love to see in tutorias are example clips. Maybe showcase few situations from real matches, where you use something you just said. So much easier to visualize how it's actually gonna look like using the moves effectively.
The eggs can also be used to jab lock from a distance. I discovered a setup while labbing. Falling fair -> short hop egg (jab locks) -> fsmash (or roll). Ff fair knocks opponents as soon as 10% for light weights, 15%-16% for middle-heavies, 18% for super heavies. The good thing about this is that eggs bounce and if your opponent rolls away the egg still poses a threat, if he get techs in place you'll be able to react to that because you haven't run up to him and if he rolls in he is rolling towards you as you're throwing the egg. By jab locking from a distance you can practically cover every get up option.
Other combos with ff fair are: Ff fair -> ftilt Ff fair -> roll Both of which are true, fair looks like a really strong option for banjo both in early percents for combos and late percents for kills
If somebody mashes out of dthrow around 130+(depending on the mash) you can get uptilt to kill. But if they don't mash out it'll whiff. Really interesting 50-50
i was labbing with the bear and bird this morning, if you put out the grenade egg first, you can combo into it with a pummel and back throw, and if you're quick enough, you can get yourself a fair as well. its at 0% and does about 40. I haven't tested if this works at higher percents yet, though do keep in mind that even at 0, it doesn't work super consistently due to the grenade egg's random trajectory
You can spit out the bomb egg at the enemies direction by walking towards the foe, jump, diagonally up and other direction and down b. This makes Kazooie poop out the bomb forwards
I have made a Combo that would work very well if the opponent doesnt know how to mash out or Tech. (Damage required varies depending on the character) (This can kill Fox at 40% for example). First you need to land a Down throw And as soon as you do that perform a short hop and hit the Spike of the Down Air, This will cause the opponent to bounce up. Then you perform 2 jab locks wait Until the opponent is about to land then Use Wonderwing. Give it a try yourself! Hint: If the opponent bounces above your head then that means the rest of the combo won't work unless if they dont do anything
I like your vids as a quick watch. Since it's only a few minutes, I can tell that you don't do a lot of editing, so if its short, I don't care about higher quality.
I‘m honestly surprised nobody’s talking about down throw into up tilt because it hits very reliably imo and kills fairly easily (around 105%) and it also catches the opponent when mashing out... just a note here I don’t know if this is an actual true confirm I’m just pointing out how useful banjo’s up tilt can be at times
Theres so much more with down b. What about z-catch/z-drop stuff and grabbing the nade with aerials. Banjo can grab the nade in the air with every aerial, including d-air which makes for a very crazy landing mixup. These kinds of setups and use of down-b arent obvious to most players.
Still no one talking about the combo I found. This works up close. U can do jump toward opponent from certain distance, egg gun in air so the first beefy egg hits them, hold b to hold kazooie, then egg gun, jump, egg gun, second jump, egg gun, third jump, into up uair, nair, fair. I tested it in training, its true. The egg gun move is great up close it seems like it has set knockback so it pops them up the same way at any percent and has good hitstun. The downside to this combo is while flashy does like 23% lol that's sad
I dont understand you just said the thing i dont understand about down b but you still did it. When you did down b after the first time did you still go upwards.
Ryan Heiss you have to do an standard air dodge and not a direction one while drifting towards the Egg, it’s good to practice in training with time slowed down than gradually move up. Then, after that, you do full charge recovery followed by a directional air dodge upwards. The grenade explodes, then you do another drifting jump towards another grenade egg, rinse repeat
Banjo and Kazooie has some moves from others fighters. Dash attack from DK, fair from Dr. Mario, uair from Sonic, bair from Meta Knight, nair from Bowser, side b from Fox, up b a mix from Sonic and Megaman. Ah, the snake recovery too. Amazing.
@@Niceguyhidden Thanks your comment helped a lot!! However, while labbing this out I found that its not how lightly you press the grab button. Its banjos positioning relative to the grenade.
