  • Dia de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) is a two day celebration and festival that starts every year on November 1. Although strongly identified with Mexico, it is celebrated throughout Latin America, the southern USA, and wherever a Latino populace has been established. All Saints Day and All Souls Day, originating in Europe, are celebrated on the same two days of the year with similar customs.
The sentiment of the celebration relates to the belief that the deceased would rather replace sadness and mourning with festivities, parties and celebration, involving activities, food and drink that the deceased had enjoyed while alive. The most common symbols of Dia de los Muertos are skeletons and skulls, usually portrayed with plenty of colour, music, and fancy clothes.
In celebration of Dia de los Muertos, I am sharing this video with you. Dia de los Muertos is a day to remember and honour our dearly departed and for me this includes my parents Simon and Marie Schaman, without whom my clinic would not exist. They put an tireless hours behind the scenes for many decades to contribute to the building and maintenance, as well as, the success of my medical career and clinic. I will be forever grateful!
