for real man, these are hideous and cheap-looking, they disgust me, but not all of us designers want to move to Oregon :/ Nike needs to open an east coast HQ to get some new talent on board, people who actually make well thought-out and thoroughly-researched designs..... unlike these abominations.
And stop being so freaking cheap on limiting them on a freaking budget when they're like already got billions! I miss the Alpha Project when they weren't afraid to go all out for their designs but still pack tech in them!
It's sad that most Americans looking for an affordable pair of hoops shoes will get something like this instead of overseas options. You can regularly get the Way of Wade Shadow with full-length elite cushion for under $100.
@xVERT4x not to be argumentative but what’s the issue in this? A large amount of Nike’s profits are due to China, and if you support Nike, you support their expansion there where their industry directly supports China as well. I’d rather buy a quality product from a transparent brand than one that masquerades their logo as a symbol of quality when it’s clearly gone downhill recently.
These are the type of shoes that show why Nike is struggling. Who would buy these when you can get the Lebron 21 for nearly the same price on sale (or really many other shoes that provide more tech)?
not defending Nike on this one, but it has to be taken into consideration that the deals for Nike shoes in many countries are not as good as those in North America, so Lebron 20, 21 will never go down to the same price range as these shoes
@@vietanhtran6457you are correct, nike especially adidas/NB does not have that much sale here in Asia, BUT we are getting easy access to chinese basketball shoes. Imagine getting a new release like joker 1 for only about 70-80 USD!
Sometimes it's not always the designers or engineers. If the boss says you have X-amount for a budget and you're maximizing margins then it won't matter what they design. My guess this is totally on management telling them to maximize profits to keep shareholders happy.
I think this is Nike trying to trick consumers into buying their stuff. There's name recognition already with the GT Jump series, so putting out a lower priced version tricks the consumer thinking they got the latest and greatest at a lower price point.
I wouldn’t say it’s tricking consumers with a name but rather tricking them into thinking they’re getting value out of their purchase. I bet these takedown, cheap models have insane profit margins since they lack a lot of tech and are overall poor in quality and performance.
Hi doc! I am fan from Philippines. I always watch your reviews. I am also fan of budget model shoes. I hope you can review the new budget model shoes from 361 degrees. Their new shoes 361 degrees Genesis. Thanks a lot doc!
Good vid as always Doc! Visually these remind me a bit of Russ's first shoe with Jordan Brand. Loved those to death but, def will be steering clear of these.
Quite enjoy the look of these, but such a bummer. You'd think this being a take down, they'd at least have a forefoot zoom unit setup (same with the Hustle take down.) Nike just seems to be throwing things at the wall trying to see what sticks, and it's not looking great. Hopefully they use these funds for something else, such as a possible Wemby shoe line, to buff up Giannis' line, or Ja's, etc. (Also quite enjoy the Jump 2s.)
If they want this to be a takedown model for the GT Jump, they couldve done a basic Air Max set up. Not this cheap foam based cushioning. Rather get adidas' budget models since most of them are great for their value
I like that it’s flat and low to the ground with light cushion. I’m not that heavy so I think I can make it durable . And it looks good side to side transition kinda rolls a lit bit in the internal part of the foot no the external that’s bad if it rolls but that’s basical footwork
No, he never will. It’s an old shoe, not available in the US, and not much hype around it. I ordered it off eBay and I can tell you that it’s an average shoe. The insanely large outrigger is kind of a problem and the shoe is super narrow. Definitely not worth it.
Gt Cut Academy gets Zoom and GT Jump Academy doesn't. Nike likes to pretend these shoe reviews and hoop social media in general don't make an impact on what shoe sells and what doesn't.
To everyone in the comment section…you all do realize that this is a super low budget Nike model, right? Lol. 😂😂 How much performance did you all even expect from this model?
That’s the thing. If you look at the low budget models from Chinese brand for example, you get much more for an equal or often times cheaper price. I’m talking budget models with full length cushion, midfoot shank and materials better than this. The shoe in this video just screams bare minimum to me. Minimum effort and minimum care. Just releasing the shoe for the sake of profit. Like how expensive could a piece of midfoot shank be? Why not include it when it’s kinda important for a basketball shoe?

Not wrong, most UA-cam shoe reviewers have seemingly better ideas/suggestions in regards to technology.
@@More-Sauce-Man I think they might do it intentionally for the consumers to spend more on the better looking flagships. Good looks are a "luxury".

I mean that’s money going directly to china vs only a portion of money going to china when buying from American brands
@xVERT4xwhy support a brand that rips you off?
@xVERT4x it's capitalism and American companies are losing. American companies need to do a better bang for your bucks shoe then.
@xVERT4x not to be argumentative but what’s the issue in this? Even 361 under $100 with their best foam and a carbon shank.

Crazy how the world's biggest shoe company cant afford to put midfoot shanks, better foam or better materials in their products.
The shoe looking like a hi top precision
💯...screwing GT series name
Imaging getting those instead of a random Li-Ning pair

can you review fake air zoom insoles please
Like the ones on temu and Amazon?! I've always wondered how those hold up. Ohhh even the boost looking ones look awesome 😎
there was a time when nike basketball shoes raised eyebrows, now they mainly raise questions
Thats a deep comment right there

pls review sky elite ff 3 or the Nike hyperace 3 🙏🙏
go for Way of Wades, Asics & Mizuno shoes are trash, bad for playing volleyball even it named "volleyball shoes"
Nike pegasus premium next
Hi Zach, I would love to see a Lining Yushuai 19 review, I’ve been eyeing these, but I only buy if they have your stamp of approval!
Wouldn't be a pair of Nikes without a giant swoosh ruining the look of shoe
And sadly a lot of people still see that swoosh and attach high quality to it
@JDexia Ya I understand why they do it but still ruins looks of most of their shoes IMO. Makes the brand seem insecure or something

Would this be a upgrade to nikes other budget mid tops like the KD trey 5 9&10's?

They didn't even wait for a GT Jump 3 to make a GT jump academy smh 🤦♂️

Wow, Nike used to be the leader in tech and design. Seeing these rolled out for the lower budget tier is sad.
It seems that Nike want to compete with Sketchers for the Design
Not really mad at these as bucket Nike shoes
how is this gt jump, when there's not a single tech to help the wearer's jump? just a foam that is not even very soft for landing
Nike thinks people are stupid
Day 1 of asking for a ASICS sky elite ff3 mt review
Another bare minimum effort product from Nike. Love to see it.

AR 2s 👀
Man this is like Westbrook zero 1 and some hyper rev have a baby. Nike basketball is not on top anymore
The back looks like a crappy rendition of the Westbrook Jordan why not 0.1’s 🥴
this shoe is so unnecessary too 👎
“Tampoco es sacar tenis de awebo” as would say on my ranch

It looks like a shoe inside a shoe on the back
Yeah it does
