    Just bought a Bobber as my first bike. I had thought about the Scout 60 Bobber but figured I would outgrow it soon and would have regretted not getting the full Scout Bobber. As a beginner rider, I have really enjoyed the Scout Bobber and don't think it is too much for a new rider.

      Getting mine delivered in 3 days days....I am a begginer....any pointers for me for riding this bike? Thanks.

    • @epontius
      @epontius Рік тому +2

      @@digidrum2003 it is actually very forgiving. There is a pretty wide latitude in gear shifting. I would definitely recommend baby steps. I started just riding around my neighborhood and then kind of widened out from there going further out and just pushing your envelope by challenging yourself.
      Find a nice empty parking lot to practice some turns and such.
      The bike has a low center of gravity and long wheelbase which makes it pretty steady.
      Be careful on the highway at speed with any crosswinds as the bike is relatively light so you do get pushed around.
      Overall, I still don't regret it as my first bike. It's been great to learn on and practice with.
      Good luck!

      Personally I would suggest getting a meh condition used scout 60 for a first bike just to learn on and trade it in later for a new scout. But I'm glad it worked for you.

    • @epontius
      @epontius 11 місяців тому +1

      @@Chillin4030 I had thought about a scout 60, but then figured I'd grow out of it too quickly. And there are a number of expressways I travel that have 70+ mph speed limits...so didn't know how the 60 would hold up to that.
      The regular scout bobber took no time to get used too. Turned out to have been the right decision for me.

    I have the Indian Scout 100 Year Edition, it was my first bike (however I had ridden my fathers 93' Sportster [the big one] a few times) it does have a lot of power for a beginner, but I think over all it is a good beginner bike since its so low to the ground and light. Also since it has the extra power you don't have to switch to a larger bike a year or two down the line once you move into novice territory. I would recommend the highway bars and rear foot pegs, they add a decent amount of protection if you end up laying the bike over; also the engine automatically cuts off if/when it notices the bike has been laid over.

    • @joshuabee7333
      @joshuabee7333 Рік тому

      Thank you! This is my dream bike. I ride BMX, road bikes, mountain bikes etc. I've never ridden a motor bike, but I do have 13 years of experience doing cycling sports. I want the Indian Scout or Bobber so bad, but I hear, "it's too much power." If I ride conservatively until I'm comfortable, would that be a bad idea? My second choice is the Rebel 1100.

    • @Sir_Mikel_Bass
      @Sir_Mikel_Bass Рік тому +2

      @@joshuabee7333 The Scout/Bobber has high end power - it loves high RPMs, its a bit sluggish in the low end, I found that 3rd gear was the sweet spot for the standard 30-35 mph that most residential streets are posted. Even goosing the throttle from a dead stop didn't seem to kick the tail out on me - so I feel like it is a decent starter bike. The "too much power" part comes from the ability for it to get up and go and go fast once you get above a few K RPM and the temptation you get to go faster and pull some G's - as long as your responsible with it then its a non-issue. Also the lean angle is slim, so you have to be aware how fast you go around corners or your foot stands will drag and if they hit a pot hole will kick the rear out from under your - I almost had this happen to me.

    You DEFINITELY know your market! I've been looking into getting a motorcycle and I most definitely was looking at the HD Iron 883. Saw an ad on FB for Indian, gave it a look and I'm in love with this bike. Dollar for dollar this bike looks like it's a much better value over the 883. Never thought I'd say this but I'm actually REALLY GLAD I saw the ad on FB! lol! This bike is exactly what I'm looking for. The color is exactly what I wanted too.
    The 883 is great (my neighbor has one), but you nailed it when you said that it has old school look combined with a modern refined machine. Unfortunately I'm not local to you so I can't buy one from you though. :(

    Disagree with the advice for new riders to buy the 60 instead of this Scout. Bike size pretty much the same, and more people want more power after they have some miles behind them. Also, much easier to sell the big Scout down the line because more people want the additional HP.

    I’ve had my bobber 3 years….it’s ok for new riders too. I wanted my first bike to not ne too much to handle, but it also needed to have the power and speed to where I won’t want to trade it out for something bigger within a year. It’s also low to the ground, 25 inches from the ground is the seat so even a person standing 5’7 or taller can flat foot it

    I started on a 69 scout... just take the throttle easy and you'll be fine. It's a very progressive and controllable throttle. My buddy started on a scout 69 too, he still has his. I'm thinking about picking up one again, my current bike is kind of boring to ride compared to the scout :/ (chief DH)

    Best looking 2021 cruisers :
    1. Ducati XDiavel Black Star (quicker than most sports bikes from 0-60mph) belt
    2. Triumph Rocket 3 (quicker than most sports bikes from 0-60mph) shaft drive
    3. Indian Scout Bobber (very beautiful but neither quick nor fast)
    3 best cruiser alternatives in 2021 :
    1. 2021 Bmw R1250R or R1250RS (135 HP 145 Nm with Shaft Drive)
    2. 2021 Bmw R NineT or NineT Pure (Shaft Drive and many custom options)
    3. 2021 Honda X-ADV with DCT transmission (or Rebel 1100 with DCT)
    You are welcome.

      I bought the regular bobber as my first motorbike in February. 1000 miles later I'm majorly satisfied and learned so much on it as a noob. Even slid it at 30mph! (The bike took AMAZINGLY little damage, major props to Indian's engineering and frame design!)
      I got the Saddlemen LS single seat after 500 miles. World of difference, would highly recommend, though it is a little expensive. I can ride the bike endlessly on the stock suspension + this seat.

    I kind of like the sound with the stock exhaust. I'm not physically able to safely ride a motorcycle but I still think they're pretty cool.
    Also what type of fuel system does it use? Is it fuel injected or does it use a carburetor?
