I'm having problems with my 14" WEN bandsaw and this is how I fixed it.

  • The WEN 14" bandsaw has been an okay upgrade for me from the 9" bandsaw that I had in the past. It's not the easiest to get tracking straight and does not have the most power but for the most part it does a good job delivering on 14" class capabilities. But the bearing system has a back bearing that is particularly weak and it prematurely wears out. Aaaaaaan unfortunately WEN has not made it easy to find and replace that bearing. So I had to find one that fits myself. This video is about how that all went.

Dude, I'm living this right now and went through the parts hunt just like you. Thank you for the bearing link.

Thanks for the video. Unfortunately I saw it too late. Mine came with a cracked bottom bearing. Also my drop arm moves around so It's impossible to get a good fit with my upper bearings. The problem forced me to over tighten the knob and the sprocket and screw snapped, the knobs came shooting out and the arm dropped to the table so I can't even use my machine till it gets fixed. And the worst part is that even when it's fixed it will still be infuriating and impossible to set perfectly

Thank you, but no need. I found a guy that lost his due to flood damage and he sold me the complete bearing kits.

How long have you used it before needing to replace bearings. My $3000 Jet don't even cut straight and have to replace bearings all the time.

Good day sir. Check out the Carter Bandsaw accessories, it is possible they may sell an upgrade bearing kit.
I'm with you on this, it should not be wearing through. Are you running your thrus bearing to close, or your feed rate might to fast. As a new worker myself I struggle with theses two things as well.
Thank you for taking the time to share.

When I set them up I set it about 1 mm off the blade when it is running freely so that the blade does not touch it unless I'm actually cutting. I'm usually pretty gentle with feeding wood through it. This saw cuts pretty bad if you try to rush your piece through it. Thank you so much for the carter suggestion. I will be looking into them today to see what they have.

Carter said no, I contacted them specifically.

Same issue here. So like yourself, I was able to find those replacement bearings via China; I also purchased 2 more bearing fixtures. Lousy design! The thrush bearing design is really cheesy. I contacted Carter via email in hopes that there could be a Carter Stabilizer kit that might fit...they said no. Somehow I can't just accept that! An adjustment or re-configuration has to be possible! Wish I never bought the thing. I mean, overall, it's not a bad saw, but definitely needs a new update to such a terrible design flaw.

For about $400 more, get the Rikon. Bigger resaw capacity and a much better saw in general

Yes they are. I had the same thought looking at it online. But when it showed up and I put them side by side they are the exact same size.

I just ordered the HK1010 bearings from Amazon.. Last Nov I ordered a bearing direct from Wen and paid $12 to get it. I was just getting it installed today. Packag from Wen arrived with correct part number but bearing was too wide. Stamped as a 1012 and not a 1010. A bit too wide. I've contacted Wen but I am sure nothing will be done now.

I rely like my Wen 14" bandsaw. I will check my bearings, other than the fact that the light wont hold position I cant give any complaints about it.

I know this is going to sound strange - it was too me - but there is a guy that posts a lot of videos - and he says that the guide bearing don't have anything to do with cutting straight - ua-cam.com/video/fF5_3b25LuM/v-deo.html - EthAnswers The Truth On Bandsaw Guides! Why They Don't Matter For Resawing + Guide Comparison

I'm wondering WEN they are going to make a tool that works. I bought a belt and disk sander combo it is a piece of crap. Nothing on it works well the belt slips and will not stay tight the disk is not square to the table the miter gauge is cheap plastic. I will never buy a wen product again. I don't have a big budget and when I get burned like that it really hurts.
