Why the hell did this 10 minute video do a better job of explaining of explaining slip angle and steering angle relative to a car's actual direction of travel way better than my third year vehicle dynamics module and a certain Springer textbook by a certain RN Jazar....
High praise! Really appreciate that Shaun. To be fair with a video we have some advantages over a text book but we have also run into the same issue with some books that are not the best at communicating their intended topics as great as we'd all like - Taz.
I wonder why big performance tire-manufacturers don't release tire curves to the general public, not even for slick tires... They probably test and measure all tire curves during development, why not share on their website? It would make suspension and steering geometry SO MUCH EASIER to design I bet the first manufacturer to do it would became a big hit - imagine having the curves for your R888 and being able to set your suspension/steering geometry to suit your tires instead of having to do endless guess-work of suspension parameters at the track (fine tuning will always be required of course, but at least you would not need to start from nothing)
It's because the curve is going to be different for each car, each turn, each road surface, each different tire pressure, etc. It's an imaginary curve really, you can't ever have the "real" graph. It doesn't exist.
