Thank you so much!! I'm a french country rock guitar player and I just discovered hawaiian guitar, excellent lesson, it's so great from you to share your knowledge.
Thank you Harry...You have my undivided attention...This is a wonderful slack key classic...When I first heard Ledward Ka'apana play the tune I had a "goose bump" moment, and hoped that one day I might learn to play it. I'm glad you talked about the challenge of memorization...I don't find it easy at all, but don't wish to be TAB bound! Aloha
Aloha Harry! am watching from Belgium would you believe. Would love to visit Hawaii one day but in the meantime your music is taking me to your beautiful islands :-). best wishes
Mahalo Harry! This past weekend I witnessed Led play Radio Hula live at McCabe's and since then I've had burning desire to learn this tune. I'm so happy to have found your posting to guide me.
Aloha Harry, Mahalo again for another great lesson and for the reminder to be patient, I watch a lessen several times, Think I got it and grab my Guitar then it's like the Menahuni's play tricks with my fingers...lol Which model # of John Pearse strings do you like best? Thanks again
+Terry Clark Aloha Terry! I use John Pearse Phosphor Bronze light gauge guitar strings! They last way longer even though I play and switch between slack key and standard at my gigs!
Trying to learn this great piece but can't tell if you're plucking both the 5th and 6th string (12th fret) at the same time, 2nd and 3rd measures, 1st phrase...mahallo
Aloha Harry! Thanks for the quick reply, greatly appreciate your lessons. I guess I posted the wrong question. What I meant to ask is if you're plucking the 5th (open) and 1st string (12th fret) at the same time since the tab shows them to be in line. I just found you on UA-cam, have been always interested in the beautiful sound of Haw'n music especially playing the guitar in open G tuning. I've learned a few pieces from Patrick Landeza's CD's but he doesn't have Ki Ho'alu. You have a lot more and you have a great teaching style. I want to learn them all before RA takes my fingers ha ha ha...I'm 72 and live on Oahu, planning to move to Big Island. Mahalo!
Thank you Roberto! It would be a great boost for my partner and I because we haven’t made any income yet! If you’d still like to, you can call or text my cell @(808)262-3734. Mahalo! 🤙
Mahalo Kumu Harry. This slowed down approach makes it so much easier to learn... Just love this song and how you and Led play it.
Thanks Harry! Can't wait for the other parts!

Aloha from Okinawa. Any chance you can show how to play this on the uke?
For the part starting at 2:56 are you using just your ring finger to hit all the notes on the high string?
Wish i could see your picking hand
Section 1 run thru- 4:34

Do you have part 3? OR did you do it all in just 2 parts? GREAT tutorial, Mr. Harry!
