Marina Del Rey - Solo Fish Trip | BAF

Took a solo trip to Marina Del Rey (ballona creek). Had some good success for this highly pressured area. Used the eye-strike Texas eye with a z-man minnow Z. Caught a total of 5 Spotted Barbed Bass fish.

Next time go passed the fence and do a little ninja fishing, overall that whole area is a good place, I usually do good each time I go!

So for bait fishing most of the time we use high low rigs. For lure fishing we prefer jig heads with soft plastics. But look up rig set ups and try them, there’s set ups you’ll prefer to use over others.

How long is your fluke? Or to be a good size for this area? I went today using the 5” zoom bait fish fluke but didn’t catch nothing, also i think because of the weather is cold..

I like starting out with a 3” just to test out the water, then I’ll do 4” or 5”. But now it’s kinda tricky fishing anywhere near shore all the smelt are gone so the bigger fish follow them out for the most part. The cold weather seems to affect that area more.

The key to this spot is just being mobile. We like hoping rock to rock until you find the schools. Just make sure you’re fishing the bottom that’s were you’ll get 90% of the strikes. For sure don’t get stuck in one spot, 15-20 min in each spot till you find the honey hole.

spotted bay bass are my favorite game fish to catch and release. Unfortunately they get poached a lot at that spot :/ There's actually huge macks that boil at the other side where boats cruise by. Throw a small jerkbait with twitch twitch pause, you get giant macks!

Yea, people aren’t aware of the size/bag limits out there,. When they’re boiling you can catch bonito & barracudas as well!

@@peteryoo6244 yea, there’s some big ones that come out of there! Usually mid day boils for bonito during the summer & cudas during night and randomly during the day
