@kpercy19, I was going to suggest Phoenix as well. As soon as she said give suggestions that was the first thing that popped in my head. I also thought of Beauty For Ashes, which gives off the same connotation as Phoenix. Cannot wait to see the finished product. ❤❤
While you do want to take full precautions when dealing with rodent droppings, there’s no need to panic or catastrophize about catching an illness. Not all rodents carry disease and the droppings typically need to be very recent in order to harbor the many viruses (such as hanta) that could be found. Bacteria (such as salmonella) can survive a bit longer, up to a few weeks. Regardless, I’d wear gloves, a respirator and eye protection at all times, wash your hands well afterwards, and follow up with hand sanitizer as well as a change of clothes. An ultraviolet lamp placed in the RV would be a bonus, though probably overkill. Also, do NOT use a vacuum to clean the area, as this can aerosolize germs. It must all be cleaned by hand, such as using a cheap brush and dust pan that can be thrown away when you are done.
I am so happy and excited for you. With the RecPro sponsorship, the help of a true friend like Isaac, the vision of your new to you rig, and just seeing the smile on your face. Just like Isaac with the house drama, there is always a light at the end of the tunnel. This may have been more than you bargained for, but it will be so worth it in the end. Love and hugs to you from Iowa!
GIRL! I am do happy for you!! GOD is so good. And bless Issac fr being such a good, compassionate man to continue to support the mother of his child. That's a good man. WWhat a true blessing to have a sponsor. Your good karma. I would have hone with a darker colored cushion with a toddler and 2 cats. But that's because I had 7 boys and 3 dogs 😅😂😂 ❤from Grandma in Peru 🇵🇪
You are a true bad ass ( in a great way) ! I wish I had done this when I was your age! You’re doing an awesome job on it! Love seeing the rv transformation
Name your rig “Bolt”. I went through a very traumatic experience and healing was so difficult. During that time I was asked to rescue a dog. I had him for a few weeks before I realized he was actually rescuing me. I named him Bolt. My daughter said Mom, why that name? I said because he is the anchor that is holding me together during this healing process. He is the bolt that kept me together. Maybe Bolt or Anchor. 🥰 So happy for you…
It is always better to be safer than sorry! Glad you are addressing the rusty propane tank and all the finishing touches, by replacing the appliances and the cushions too! Strip it down and build it back with new pieces. At least you will know what is in and on the vehicle!😊❤ Have a Happy New Year!🎉🥳
Don't want to be a downer, but cleaning any porous material won't help, even with bleach. Best to rip out all of it where pest waste and water touched it (floorboards, overhead cubbies, etc.) and start clean. Definitely more work and expense, which I'm so sorry that seller didn't disclose, but better for your health (most important!) and for resale down the line. You are a rock star for how you are handling all of this, and what a record for the world to see the amount of work that goes into such a rehab, especially one that wasn't expected to be this bad. I really shudder to think what would have happened if the older buyer had been successful in purchasing this rig. You definitely saved her! ❣
Seems like this vehicle really should have had an inspection done by a professional before the purchase so you had better information on exactly what you were getting, and possibly some leverage to negotiate the price with.
Yeah... was going to comment in previous videos that the only thing that's unique to propane tanks for each vehicle is the mounting bracket. Back when I ran a campervan shop in eartly 90's we'd buy the tanks and send them to a welder to attach the mounting bracket. So if this were my job I'd buy a new tank and cut the old mounting brackets off your tank and weld them on to the new tank. Or simply do a new mounting system, which sounds like the direction your're heading in. Only question that remains is what option takes less time and is easier.
Anytime you purchase an older RV that has been stored for years its pretty normal to find mouse droppings . Congrats on the sponsorship . That should make the reno go more smoothly . I love the live chats !
You are amazing. I keep thinking of how many lives you may have saved with this rebuild. Anyone else would not have had the persistence to rebuild this machine of yours. Because you went so deep, it very well saved your life. Anxious to see the final reveal!
Such a shame that people have to be dishonest 😢. I know that no matter what though, you will be able to turn it into something beautiful and cozy ❤. So very happy for you that RecPro is sponsoring you, that’s awesome!
You are literally polishing a turd! Loving this build series, way to sleigh it. Thanks for the Christmas goodies today and the sweet visit. I miss hanging out with you guys. Cheers!
That white thin fabric that your new cushions are wrapped in is what some upholsters use to make stuffing new cushions easier. Just a little helpful hint.
I do agree the propane tank needs attention, I don't think you need to stress so much about it . Because I have a 1973 Concord Class A RV and it's propane tank looked a bit worse than Yours and all it is is surface rust NOTHING to stress over. All You need to do is drain the tank completely. Then disconnect the propane line from tank to RV. Next support the tank with a 2 jacks so it won't fall and just undo the straps holding the tank in place then slowly lower the jacks till the tank is down all the way. Next I sand blasted mine but all one truly needs to do is get rid of most if not all the surface rust and old paint off You can sand it with 100 grit sandpaper but You may find it faster to use a wire wheel brush on a good drill works best then spray or brush on some rust preventative then spray completely with primer lightly sand with a 220 Grit sandpaper then spray completely with a at least 3 or 4 coats of some version of the same color it was new. Next just put it back up where it was and strap it back in and reconnect the propane line and that's it. And it is all easily done by You or anyone. Cheer up Girl it's not all that bad !!!
Happy to hear the solution! Best way to make sure the propane tank is empty? Have a BBQ. When you want to have a BBQ, the tank's always empty. You should call her Minnie ❤
You might want to give the lower lip of the awning a bit of a tug. I know on my awning it gets a bit stuck. Not being used in a long time it might need some help, or it might be a bit out of alignment.
Off topic....and I know I've said this before but you are ROCKING those bangs!! So transformative! I have always thought you are beautiful but those bangs just take it over the top!😍
Woo hoo, congratulations. It awesome that things are working out in your favor. It sucks that you were lied to about the RV, but you have beautiful horizons are in front of you ..
Girl! So proud of you and happy for you ❤️. I like Phoenix for a name, but I ADORE Spirit because one day she's gonna be your noble steed! Whatever name you choose, it'll be perfect tho. I named mine Country Bumpkin because my dad sang that song to me when I was born. Plus my camper is also like an off grid cabin.
That’s awesome Jaylena , Rec Pro is my go to when I need something for my shuttle bus build. I got their gray couch 65” and I’m getting a fridge. You look so happy 😃
I'm so stoked for your Recpro sponsorship😊!! Love that for you. I was worried about the extra unexpected costs that you didn't anticipate. Total gut job😮
Yeah🎉❤😊 super excited to see you going to upgrade all the old stuff - you’ re wise to put your safety first in your home and start with a fresh clean and functioning unit - love love love it - enjoy the process - happy happy happy 😃
Jaylene, personally I would get the largest max volume solar panels available for your RV. At Lowe's or Home Depot you could install a small fridge freezer that runs on electric that does not draw that much power. Congrats on the new sponsorship by RecPro, and almost 90k subscribers now, last I noticed was 57k.
Jaylena, its so great to see your smile again. I'm glad you're excited again about this new journey. If it was my comment telling you about possible hantavirus I'm sorry, didn't mean to scare you. I didn't know if you were aware & thought it best to be safe & mention it. I wish when I was younger I was able to be confident like you & go after life. So proud of you Jaylena & your daughter has a wonderful role model & amazing mom.💜
I'm so glad you have Isaac to help you with the kitchen. At this point he can do them in his sleep. This will be an awesome little rig for you to snowbird to Texas and escape fire season and snow. We all know that Oregon has beautiful Springs and Early summer but unless you are into winter sports it's miserable.
Smart choice, you could pull the tank it was obviously holding pressure, you could have it blasted by dry ice etc, then you could see if it's compromised, pitting etc. also could pressure test it. But the easiest and safest is to replace it for sure..
I am very happy for you and I am looking forward to the installation as well as the info on the retro company as that is an invaluable resource! I loved, loved, the smile on our face as well as your Joy! Happy New Year!
It will be so interesting watching you put this back together. I’m looking forward to the end result as I’m sure you are too. Thank you for taking us along to watch.
Haven’t finished this episode yet but I thought you knew about the rat poop because you wore a respirator. I slept in a boat and it was also infested with pee and poop. I didn’t know. Then cleaned it without protection. It hurt my lungs so bad it took a year before I could breath normally again. Please be careful. SUPPORT THE CHANNEL! You are now thinking like I knew you were capable of all along. SO proud of your problem solving! The camper will be in mint condition, and the value will make it VERY resalable, should you ever decide to do that. By using all the build skills you and Isaac have, I am excited for the incredible FINISH of this 1996 Chinook! SHE WILL BE AMAZING!
I first discovered you the day you bought this rig. I am so sorry this thing has given you so much trouble and that the sellers were so dishonest, but I love your attitude! Keep up the great work. The Chinook is going to be stunning when you're done. :) Name recommendation? Chi (shy); Pearl (they are made by irritants caught inside a clam. :); Ruby (she was rough around the edges, but she'll be polished to perfection); and Millie (because she'll be a million times better than her old self. :) )
The Van itself is really cool. As long as you can afford the renovations you are better off replacing as much as you can and have it "as new" inside. Glad I found your channel this is great to watch!
You know, I have been following way back to The Crockers, and I have to say you have grown so much you've bloomed into a brand new person! So proud of you! Motherhood certainly agrees with you! Always remember: creativity is what fuels the soul!
I've been following along to from way back. I also think having Isaac in her life. Issac is the most grounded person I've ever met. We'll I've never met him. But, you know what I mean
Oooooh! I just noticed your getting close to 100k subs. That’s awesome J! I’m so happy for you. This will be a very interesting build. You have a lot ahead of you but look at how much experience you have now compared to your first van. It’s really impressive. 🌻
I am so happy that you finally caught a break with an awesome sponsor! It has to be a great relief. looking forward to seeing more videos on the build. Hope you had a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!!!
Yeah for Rec pro!! You are a trouper and so positive you made lemonade out of the lemon you got! I am looking forward to watch the out come. You do wonderful work❤❤❤❤
Here's hoping the tankless W/H doesn't burst like Issac's bus. May I suggest you place a tray under the W/H so any leaks pour to the outside and save your subfloor? An epoxy coating would also help some.
Name her Phoenix! Out of the ashes comes a beautiful new creation!
That name is so appropriate 😊
Good Idea!❤
@kpercy19, I was going to suggest Phoenix as well. As soon as she said give suggestions that was the first thing that popped in my head. I also thought of Beauty For Ashes, which gives off the same connotation as Phoenix. Cannot wait to see the finished product. ❤❤
Great name and with her heritage..even better!❤🎉
I was thinking the same thing.
I’m so glad you caught a break with the sponsorship! You deserved it!

Yes all this for your safety sweet lady.
@jeremyc6238 you can get by just fine with a dust mask if you sptay the area with a weak bleach water mix to stop particals from becoming airborne.
I could not stop laughing when you tried to open up the awning and said she don't work😂 can't wait until it's finished it's going to be awesome🎉
And I cried for her. Shame on the seller of this vehicle..
Funny thing is she was turning it the wrong way the entire time. Jayleena is a few fries short of a happy meal😂
At this point I would have been shocked if the awning actually worked 😊
THANK YOU RecPro!! How awesome is THAT ~ WOW!!! Exciting to see it all come together!! Happy New Year!!👍💕✌️

Way to go on the sponsorship! I can’t wait to see the final results!
I'm New to your channel as about a month now.I then realized you were a part of Isaac's life. will be watching.
It will be so interesting watching you put this back together. I’m looking forward to the end result as I’m sure you are too. Thank you for taking us along to watch.
I absolutely love your attitude about life and all it throws at you!!!❤❤❤ You got this girl 😉
Good luck Kiddo! You have a BIG JOB ahead of you still. I'm rooting for you!
Jaylena, great news on your sponsorship. That is something to be thankful for with all the other setbacks. My goodness, the awning, too? SMH.
I love your hair Jaylena. The colour makes your skin glow and makes the blue of your eyes pop. The length is perfect on you.
I'm glad to see you mostly upbeat with humor during this video! It'll all work out!

Congratulations on the Recpro sponsor for this build!! And I love the bangs!!
I love the cushions, the color is gorgeous. Love you Jaylena. So glad you finally have some good news. Hugs to you and Ember. 🥰❤️

Possibly research the awning, maybe you have to manually flip a lever for it to unwind. Just a thought 😊
Two steps forward and one step back, takes longer to get there but you are still moving forward.
Hang in there! I feel your pain. You’re doing a great job restoring the girl.
Congratulations on the sponsorship . Finally some light at the end of that long tunnel .
I’m so glad you got new cushions. The old ones did their time. This is a new chapter for your Chinook.
Great name suggestions!
Now I am really excited! Looking forward to the progress! Wishing you the best in 2025! Name suggestion “Liberty”
I love your good attitude for this build! It will be gorgeous for sure!
I’m so happy for you on the sponsorship. You’re doing a great job. Enjoy your new year!
Yay!!! Your life is looking up girllllll!!! I’m so excited for you, and can’t wait to see how she comes together. ❤
I love your fabric choice! You are doing such a great job making this RV yours!
Well...things will be better than they are now..can't wait to see your shining new reveal !!! 😊❤😊
I’m so glad to see you so happy and smiling. Looking forward to watching the transformation! I like the name Minnie! (Mouse!)
I hope your plans work out. I am so sorry for all the set back. Your a amazing girl can’t wait to follow your journey
love seeing you happier about the build. looking forward to seeing it finished!!
I love this build, but I have to say that awning thing would have been my last straw. You're a saint.
Your uplifting mood is awesome. Love the smile after so much frustration. Happy New Year!!
Oooooh! I just noticed your getting close to 100k subs. That’s awesome J! I’m so happy for you. This will be a very interesting build. You have a lot ahead of you but look at how much experience you have now compared to your first van. It’s really impressive. 🌻
