First time attending a mall event 🫣 I can’t believe that just happened……
I USUALLY have an amazing time doing markets/events , if you’re watching this and prepping for your own market I have a couple of suggestions that genuinely might help you🫶🏻

No need to justify your pricing on your items! It’s your time, your work and you can justify what feels right for you! I’ve learned doing markets that if someone wants/admires your work they will be willing to pay for it.
🥹 YES I have been noticing that to be true too, if they really want it they will get it.
Joann’s isn’t closing. I work there , they filed chapter 11 bankruptcy which isn’t the kind which means they’re closing stores or anything. but we’re just “restructuring “ as a company. So glad I still have my job and I don’t know what I would do without Joann’s. They’re only closing stores that aren’t making any money. They say 95 percent of their stores are still profitable so I wouldn’t be worried !
So glad to hear you still have your job!!! From what I've read online it looks like a lot of the "restructuring" also has to do with taking the company back off the stock market and going back to being a privately owned company. I'm just glad it's not going anywhere. I live local to the company HQ and its been a dream to try and get a job at the corporate level one day. The dream is still alive!

The only market I’ve done is a small town 45 minutes away, but it’s such a welcoming space with lots of great people so I just continue to go there and hopefully I can eventually get out of my comfy zone and do other ones. Girl…😩 self sabotage is so real. I feel the same way when it comes to starting a UA-cam channel. I did a vlogmas for 30 days in 2023 but nothing else. But good for you to push forward.

I make a longer tail at the beginning and run that up the back side as my stitch marker. works like a charm and you can't lose it.

So I don't crochet, but hand sew and machine sew. I too get addicted to trying new things and starting new projects. I want to start doing markets but just found out I will be moving. So for now I'm getting to try out different patterns and time myself for future reference.
Love your vids. I watch/listen while at work and immediately gravitated towards you and your vlogs.
In love with all your plushies, I freehand, and use regular acrylic yarn cause it allows me to have more detail but this makes me want to make more softies!

I love how you bop around between different patterns and ideas. I do the same with my quilting business. Maybe one day I’ll settle into one main idea, but I’m having fun until then.
I am definitely not one to sit down and make 40 of the same plushie it’s not in my soul! There are so many patterns that I love and that I’m looking forward to making😍 It definitely makes you unique🫶🏻☺️
So sorry about the bad mall experience but thanks for sharing it! I always imagined malls to be a decent place to sell because of natural food traffic but its true not a lot of people go to malls to shop handmade stuff.
Also I vouch for HxH and think you should continue! A lot of fans don't really like the first arc (not me I love the first arc haha) but the anime really picks up after that and takes some unexpected turns! Its one of my favorite animes!

Back with a second comment lol! I've just recently started crocheting, about a month or 2 ago. I would absolutely love a video on selling crochet items, markets, all that good stuff. For instance, do you need a business license? How early should you apply to markets? What do you need for set up? Not that you need to go into that much detail, but any advice is always great! I feel like crochet is becoming very popular and I'm sure there would be so many people who would love to have a video discussing markets/selling etc.

Sorry to hear about your experience with that market coordinator, it especially sounded rude of her to harp on you for being late when you attempted to email her in regards to this market days prior with no response.. had she responded, she could have possibly put on a friendly reminder to be there at 9am but she did not. Don't feel bad for what you were not aware of, sounds like she was taking out a bad mood on you.
its so crazy how different experiences are !! im sorry you didnt had a fun time tho, thats how i felt when i went to a comic book convention. but i went to the mall twice now n did really good ! it also depends on the place too. i hope your next market is more successful
Oh my goodness I’m so glad you had a good experience 🥹 really, I was so worried after today like I need to warn my people that nobody is looking for handmade goods here and definitely this area or this mall was such (it’s not even my local mall which was my bad). And I was thinking a con would be better 😅 such a trial and error marketing events are I guess !

I finally got a chance to finish this vlog! First off i would love a tips video. I eventually would like to sell at markets but i have no idea about anything at the moment lol and Robin im so sorry you had that experience at the mall. That lady was acting like she was doing you a huge favor. Like calm down lady she paid to be there. Some people just look for things to be angry about. Thank you for sharing with us though! Oh and i wanted you to know you inspired me to apply to test patterns. I was really nervous but i got chosen for one last week! ❤

I wouldn't say give up on malls. I'd say do some extra research if you can on the mall, and only go with event organisers that actually communicate. That way you could have known and prioritised gaming-themed items for example or if you're opposite a sports store for example, you could make items in colours of local teams etc. I think I few of the prices for your smaller items might be a little high, a 3 for 2 offer on them or a 2 for x offer might be great. Your work is wonderful, and I like that you have some pieces which show a more unique style. Something I might suggest would be crochet accessories for plushies. So like little bags, or hats, or flowers etc. You can probably work them up pretty quickly using left over blanket yarn and sell them for cheap so that people can buy them for the plushies they have at home, or buy one of your plushies and dress them up :) Would also be good if you end up with a frequent spot at an event as you might start to get returning customers looking to get their sweet beans crochet plush a new outfit :)

I actually just made a big order on Alize yarn because I kept on seeing it everywhere as well! I placed my order on Etsy and while the yarn is affordable, the shipping cost is ridiculously expensive lol. I’m in Canada so not sure if it’ll cost less for US shipping. I’m not sure I can make money back with the cost but I really wanted to make plushies with fuzzy yarn so it’s worth it 🤭

I'm glad you still were able to profit! Sometimes we have to learn lessons the hard way. But you saved me from wanting to do a mall haha!

I would definetly love some tips! Going to at least one market (or in my case into artist alley in animefest of comiccone) is one of my biggest dream and goal as an artist. While I know someone who went to these events she is the "classic style artist" (she sell sticers, and prints and these types of stuff). So I would love some tips when it comes to plushies. So I can combine many tips and have a good experience in the future. While I think I wont be able to go to one in the next 3 years(xd) due to school I definetly hope I will go one day

Yeah, I would say not giving up when you’re frustrated. The first time I made a crochet bunny it took me a literal week, after I pushed through that pattern, the next patterns kept getting quicker and easier to follow. I definitely look out for beginner, friendly patterns, the more you make the more comfortable you’ll feel🫶🏻

When you are talking about dragons, you keep saying "Asta", but I couldn't find one named that. Is it "Astra the baby dragon"? Astra with an "r", maybe? I'm also looking for a smaller dragon.

Hi love your vids & plushies & how you’re an anime nerd lol love a good anime so no hate or criticism with this comment but you should try thinking about looking into the camera lens more instead of looking at yourself on the screen. Just a lil youtube pet peeve of mine it just looks like you’re not like talking to us when ppl don’t look in the camera yk? I’ve seen a lot of youtube 101/start your channel videos & I see a lot of ppl point that out & I see why it bothers ppl. So don’t want anyone to be like ugh I like her but can’t stand that she won’t look in the camera 😂.
