  • December 13th, Rep. Mike Bost spoke at the Transportation and Infrastructure Committee opposing FMCSA on the speed limiter mandate.
You can help truckers take action by going to fightingfortru... and telling your lawmakers to stop the speed limiter mandate!
The Owner-Operator Independent Drivers Association is the international trade association representing the interests of independent owner-operators and professional drivers on all issues that affect truckers. More than 150,000 members of OOIDA are men and women in all 50 states and Canada who collectively own and/or operate more than 240,000 individual heavy-duty trucks and small truck fleets. The more voices we have, the louder we are.
The mission of the Owner-Operator Independent Drivers Association, Inc. is to serve owner-operators, small fleets and professional truckers; to work for a business climate where truckers are treated equally and fairly; to promote highway safety and responsibility among all highway users; and to promote a better business climate and efficiency for all truck operators.

FMCSA might want to build a nationwide website that's operated by FMCSA agents. Which those agents can register new broker authority and check with shipping companies to see if the new broker has business with them. And regulated the current broker for transparency. And have all the authority to oversee them. Exposure of new brokers and old brokers' shipments where trucking companies and owner-operators alike can check there ratings and much more.

FMCSA DOESN'T NEED TO BE BOUGHT OFF BY BIGGER CARRIERS. REMEMBER THE NATIONAL 55 M.P.H. WITH REAGAN AND IT DIDN'T LAST LONG.

Claiming speed limiters cause more accidents resulting in injuries and death is far too easy to disprove. Europe has split speed limits. Two provinces in Canada have speed limiters. Several states have split speed limits and many carriers limit their trucks, already. THE RIGHT ARGUMENT WOUKD HAVE BEEN, SPEED LIMITERS REDUCE CAPACITY RESULTING IN HIGHER FREIGHT RSTES. No administration wants anything to make goods more expensive during an election year.
These “bills” aren’t going anywhere. They introduce things like this too late in the term, knowing it will never see a vote. The FMCSA does not need the approval of lawmakers. They will publish the rule 12/29.

@@richardbarber4380 Why, because I am not just a sheep but think for myself? Do I want a speed limiter? No, but it's not the end of the world. I'm not going to pretend there will be a trail of bodies behind every truck. There are far too many trucks already governed and places where this has been going on for decades.

I personally can't wait for speed limiters, nothing more fun than a 100 or 1000 truck convoy running thru a city or out on the open road. Cars, good luck entering & exiting the highways. On a good note, maybe cell phone use will decrease since the car drivers will have to zip between trucks to enter or exit the highways.....

@@TheBumblebee1979 If we do that, we deserve the response from the public and lawmakers. Think about it. Running through a city, we shouldn’t be at 65 or 68 anyway. Want to lose any public support and make the public demand shippers move to rail or autonomous? Bottleneck the traffic.
