The lamination should skew the grain enough to be stronger than it looks. And the grain is beautiful.
The time and tools really made a difference compared to my own projects.

Yeah,i know, but its on the inside. i was alittle rushed with this one.It was built for my own satisfaction though so i really dont mind the odd trade mark on the inside.
I usually make them a little more ornate too but as you can hear from the music that goes with the video, it sounds lovely!!

Beautiful result. However, the sound might be improved by reducing the massive braces. Thanks for a useful video. 👍

@bluegrassbarry YEP,grain on neck plank divergent, mistake, but no real detriment to the instrument .
The neck block is minimal.I find this seems to put more life into the midrange, i have built two like this plus a mando shaped full scale guitar, and it definetly makes a difference.Allows more of the top to move whilst transfering pressure to the sides-it is very strong and when you think about it,the rear of the block does what exactly? Thanks for watching!

at least tune the mandolin properly, it would make a huge difference to determine wether it sounds good or not. Otherwise nice vid!

maybe an electronic tuner would be a good investment?

hi. at 2:09 I question the wisdom of your grain orientation of the head block, as well as the amount of wood you removed from it later. the block does not see very strong in the end. on my first mandolin fingerboard i cut the fretslots my hand and miterbox and then smashed the ebony thing on a road because i knew it was not acurate enough. i now prefer a tablesaw blade and 2 scale template guide from stewmac. nice mando tho. keep on keepin

Could you send me to somewhere that lists the tools one would need to construct it. Many thanks. Definitely want to do this. But be great to know what I need first.

Nice work - I'll definitely be buying the plans.
Could I ask what the first track is on the video with the mandolin and bodrhan please?
