  • Track 4 from the "Therapy" EP.
Side note: the chords for this song were originally written for the "Severus and Stone" bloodline, but I never finished it or added any words. But I still liked the mood, so I used them here.
    Lyrics:
    I thought I'd walked a thousand miles
But it was all inside my head
My feet were almost where I started off
And I couldn't tell you why I'd bled
And I'm not surprised by what was said
but it still hit me all the same
just 'cause you see the storm
it doesn't mean you're ready for the rain
And I was dancing with my ghosts
'Cause I could never let them go
Oh, no, well I've got to
    They're no longer here
    And no one is watching
Sometimes your guilt just wears a face
And I would whistle in the dark
'Cause I felt safe while all alone
Well, it's time that I let all the dead be the dead
    There's no honor in suffering
    No reward 'cause you've bled
The rest can sort itself out
It's hard to say when things have run their course
while in the fog and still afraid
And once you see what lies behind a mask
that mask will never look the same
And once the pattern shows itself
You can't pretend that nothing's changed
It's hard to fake it when you see the steps
    before they're even made
And I was dancing with my ghosts
'Cause I could never let them go, go, go
    But I've got to
    They're no longer here
    And no one is watching
Sometimes your guilt just wears a face
And I would whistle in the dark
'Cause I felt safe while all alone
Well, it's time that I let all the dead be the dead
    There's no honor in suffering
    No reward 'cause you've bled
The rest can sort itself out

Well, the way I see it this song is all about facing hard reality that bring you the will to move to the next chapter of your life... I guess we could also call that hope.

Always has had the most beautiful lyrics. I’m currently trying to do all of these things and it’s hard. Just makes it feel better when it’s presented beautifully calming way than how empty these things feel without it. I’m so glad he’s back and sharing his journey with us. ❤️

Beautiful music but I don't 100% get what the lyrics are saying. Could anyone be kind enough to give a short anaylzation for me? ^^'

I've been playing both variants of this song on loop for a while. I don't think i understand the whole meaning of these lyrics, but something resonates right now and it's just nice to listen to. Thank you.

Holy fuck, I can really feel the severus and the stone vibes. Did you ever have a plan for the rest of that story? I know you didn't write lyrics for it, but did you have the rest of the story?

I'm sure he can handle it, lol! It's a little different than the other songs. The percussion track (which is more pronounced here than the rest of the library) lends itself more to a singer like Cranberries' Dolores O'Riordan (who would have loved this) who could rip this out with more primal punch to it to overcome that kick and snare. Ben Cooper doesn't really sing that way. He doesn't do the vocal acrobatics like the Dolores would on the exact same track. I sure as hell would never thumbs down a song until I could write a better one, but I can see where people would on this one because people get used to one thing maybe, or they sense a disconnect with the drums standing more front and center than usual. Nothing wrong with the song at all, and I hope Radical Face doesn't become a formulaic song generator, but with Ben's sort of reflective style of singing, which is so gentle, you're kind of wondering if Dolores is out there somewhere saying "Damn it!" Sometimes I think there's no stopping the sheer volume of astonishing, amazing stuff coming out of Radical Face and Co. But this was the first piece where I wondered whether it would be 'shopped out', for lack of a better phrase, to a different style of vocalist. All that said, astonishing... as usual!
