    good job on telling us how you do it. It would be more helpful to demonstrate the actual install. Questions. What is the thickness of the roofs in general, what was the size of the stainless screws, what was size of bit for pre-drill mounting screws, things to consider if anything other than AC clearance when mounting.

    Nice video and good clean installation -- lots of good information. One objection a dish dealer told me about the King Tailgater is that it is not at good as the Wyngard Pathway X1 for picking up Dish's eastern satellites? Apparently, when RVing to the Carolina coasts, the south Florida, or northern Maine there is a line-of-site issue in reaching the satellites -- they are below the horizon. If that is true it seems like there must have been a error in positioning the satellites in the first place? But anyway just wondering if you have ever taken your coach to the Atlantic area?

    So, a few questions if you don't mind. I have a class A with 2 old sat's on it. Big dome up front, and the manual one like you had in the mid section. Neither one work. I bought the King Sat so I can run two receivers for 2 TV's, front and bedroom. Did you use the OLD cable from the the old sat dish? Isn't that RG59 cable, where as the newer cable is RG6.. did that hurt any?

    • @ktoutdoor
      @ktoutdoor  7 років тому

      Yes I used my old original cable that went to the manual dish. I cant remember its number, My RV was built in 2005. My HD channels look great. Thanks for watching

    How do you point the tailgater to the direction of the satellites if its mounted in a fixed position?

    • @ktoutdoor
      @ktoutdoor  7 років тому

      317Vapers the satellites it's in side the white plastic box and it's on a turntable that's powered by small electric motors it rotates around and around and finds all the satellites automatically

      Kevin Caudill I must have the cheaper version of the tailgate then. Mine adjusts but it's not a automatic you still have to point it in the direction

    Thanks so much for being the guy that FINALLY put up a real video of this! One thing I don't understand...I was under the impression RV's had a rubber membrane over the entire roof, so wouldn't the adhesive ONLY be as strong as the rubber membrane? I mean, did you cut it away from the mounting brackets (to expose fiberglass)? And if so, how was the transition made from the mounting brackets to the membrane (did you leave some of the membrane underneath the brackets or cut the membrane clear away and use some type sealer that goes out to meet the membrane) I really hope this makes sense. Great video, this is the only thing I was unclear about.

      Thanks for watching, Our roof is fiberglass so the bonding and screws work great. But you have a rubber roof that is stretched over plywood I would look into finding some type of expansion bolt. something that will flare out from under the bottom side of the plywood. If the manufacturer of your RV is still around I would give them a call and see what they recommend. Another thought is if there maybe roof rafters ever 4 foot or so you might find them with a stud finder and you could attach the 2 front brackets very securely with long wood screws. Then lay a good cover of Dicor sealer over the complete bracket. Call my cell if like 606-875-0125 Kevin

    I use an actual satellite for when I go camping. I aim it faster than what one of these can

    • @ktoutdoor
      @ktoutdoor  6 років тому

      When you are doing your yearly sealant please use Nuflex 311 on your roof around vents and both caps . I have a 2000 Itasca Suncruiser and it was highly recimended to me from Winnebago industiers I also have a fiberglass roof

    So why didnt you just remove the old dish base and install the new dish on top? Instead of a bunch of new holes in the roof!

    • @ktoutdoor
      @ktoutdoor  7 років тому +2

      Because the old base is sealed very well from the factory not leaking, and then i would have a 1" hole to seal up where the crank handle shaft comes down through the roof.. so far all is good no leaks from the old or new dish.

      Kevin Caudill, dicor's not that hard to get off, then a stainless plate to cover hole and mount your new dish on top to cover plate and a clean installation! To late now! Enjoy your dish!

    Roof mount not good considering you will probably will park in shaded (trees) areas. Better to make 60ft cable and set it up in good area

      I thought the same thing so i keep my old TailGator in my RV storage compartment in case I had that problem. As luck would have it this summer we was on the road for 3 months and 7500 miles and not one time did i have to pull out my old Tail Gator and its 50 foot of cable.

      I've been in the satellite business for 15 years and I've seen it all. If you need any help let me know. We are getting ready to get a camper and have figured on using a tripod and a dish

      I do have a question but first I have been rving for 10 years and used the external tail gator that i could move around for best signal. and i still carry it as a back up. But sense I got this roof mount I rarely have to use it. We stop at a lot of Walmart's as we travel to sleep for the night and it is so nice being able to turn on the TV and in a few minutes its ready to go.
      but here is my question for you, out of my receiver I use a simple sliding A B switch to send my signal to the roof mounted dish or the remote dish. But my signal voltage seams to drop going through the A B switch is this a common problem ? is there a better switch to use ?

    Those tiny tailgaters are not really big enough to properly perform on KU band. I am sure signal is marginal at best and will fail quickly in bad weather.

    • @ktoutdoor
      @ktoutdoor  7 років тому +2

      Jimmy Ray I don't know anything about the Ku band but I have been using the dish Tailgater for over 5 years now from coast to coast and generally works well for me of course if it rains hard it will not work. PS we use the Dish network. ..

      Lol, please shut your stupid ass up. I’ve used the dish tailgater coast to coast; border to border. In snow, ice, storms, wind & rain and it works. Your comment fails as a horrid assumption and is marginal at best.
