Joy, I’m sooo glad I saw this video! Kwiksew 3954 is a top Viv has made many times and I always liked it. But by the time I decided to try it, it had been discontinued and was out of print - according to Kwiksew website. Well, I was determined to make it, so I bit the bullet and paid the TWELVE DOLLARS (!!!) plus shipping. I made the mistake of cutting it out on the lines for L instead of XL and tossing the excess pattern tissue! Of course, it didn’t fit as loose as it was supposed to. I’ve been putting off making it again since I’d have to redraft the pattern. Ugh! THEN I saw your video and lo and behold, 3954 was one of the patterns you got at HL! I trotted down there next morning and there it was in the drawer all this time! I got two for good measure. Thanks for always showing what you bought!

Loved all the patterns but especially the first long skirt & top. Traveling back to Virginia this Saturday. Can’t wait to use my sewing machine. Long 10 hour trip so couple days to rest then lots of sewing.

Great video Joy!!! As always, you look beautiful. I went yesterday to JoAnns because their pattern sale started. I was the only one in the building and I didn’t get there until 10. I’m worried they may not make it. I missed the Kwik Sew sale at Hobby Lobby. I saw they had Simplicity. I’ve loved that blue and white stripped for so long. I hope our store has it. The paisley!! BEAUTIFUL, and with your complexion,💋 I had so much fun with you today. Please, please show us the bathroom when it’s finished. I know Vivmom is going through a remodel too. Well so are we. They started laying our new flooring in our bedroom and it was awful. The sample didn’t show that it had a light gray board in with the hickory. So we had a patch of dark and a patch of whiteish gray. We told them to stop until we talked to the owner and he came and was appalled. He said we are so sorry. Now you’re going to have to start the process over. He said we could have anything in the store for the same price because now it will take time to get more in. He was wonderful. So we called and asked if they could hold our new bedroom suit at the store. Color Plus Tile really treated us right. We picked out one in the same price though. We didn’t want to take advantage. Well hopefully Vivmom puts a video out soon. I always love her videos too. You guys won’t know until we meet in glory , how much what you do means to me. Keep on being your beautiful self! Elizabeth

Yes....soft colors like the new fabric you have today look nice on you. Nice to be crisp abd dporty, but some days sweetness of a soft print is calming and lovely. Love, love the flower and stripe!

Hey, Joy Joy, that pastel paisley fabric should be mine! When you held it up, I said to myself, “That is my colors, not hers; she must have been thinking of me.” Now I find you are changing your colors. We are really going to be twins if we aren’t careful. I do think you have already purchased a couple of those patterns before, but that is alright because you have to have one to tear up and throw into the trash when it doesn’t work right the first time. 😂. VivMom Sews sent me to your videos, JFYI. I'm glad she did. I'm happy you & Jerry found the tile you were looking for and wanted. Plano is just south of me (Collin County.) We have every merchant under God's sun available in Collin County. Also, Kwik Sew K3954, Viv did a sew-along video for it a while back. I have it saved in my queue to reference when I go to sew this pattern. I'm a newbie at sewing clothing and need all the help I can get and the time. And like Viv, your videos are very helpful. So, thank you for that.

Hi Joy. Best scissors out there are Kai (Amazon), in my opinion. So happy to see you chose two patterns I've made and am very happy with the results. S8637. First one I made was navy blue Faille fabric from Hobby Lobby - View D in View C length. I ordered fabric from Mood Fabrics in NYC in Garden of Earthly Delights crepe to make View D (not cut out yet). The other paisley print fabric you purchased from Hobby Lobby is the same fabric I made in New Look 6519 View A. I had to add 3" to the hem and I'm only 5'2". Pattern is too short for my liking. The paisley print fabric is soft and gets softer every time you wash it. You will be very pleased with the results. Love how you share things with us. Your videos are the best!!!

Belle, I agree that Kai are THE best scissors ever! However, I hope people will buy them locally instead of Amazon. Please, everyone support your local sewing businesses when possible.

Haven't read comments, so I'll just give my 2 cents. Cut that blouse across and turn the panels so it has the solid on top left with floral below and opposite on the right. I think you will like it better.

Joy, I also store my fabric in cube style shelves and wrap my fabric on foam core boards. The only thing I do different from you is I stand the fabric up vs on its side like you do. I say this to you all the time, but thank you for your videos. I really enjoy them.

Oooh, marble. I used to say I wanted that for my kitchen countertops and everyone said it would crack, couldn't take heat. So what do you see in all the designer kitchens now? Marble. Of course. I should never have listened. That shower is going to be gorgeous!
You drove all the way to Plano? Isn't that a long way for you? My brother lives there. I've only been once and didn't care for the traffic. Honestly though, I'd sure go for the tile place! It'd be worth it. I had to laugh when you talked about Jerry's truck so weighed down with all that marble -
I have S8637 ready to make but that's the one I've had so much trouble fitting. Overthinking the whole thing. It is a wrap, though, so it'll be forgiving for those of us with waists. Or the lack thereof.
I do my fabric the same way, mainly because I saw yours and thought it was such a good idea. I use smaller pieces of foam core, though, because my cubbies are only 12" x 12". I usually have to fold my fabric into thirds, which is a pain, but I can get more boards out of one piece of foamcore. I just get mine at dollar tree when I can find them. The posterboard they have, like for when a kid does a project for a science fair? The ones that fold on the ends? Those are perfect size for me, I can get 6 boards out of a piece of it. But I have to say that it's not as strong as the foam core and I like that better.
I saw that clearance fabric at HL - the blue stripe is so pretty. Love your paisley! And you look good in both colors, softer and bright - maybe we need the softer colors now because of all our own soft curves - 😂 It's all so feminine. We're just going to keep telling ourselves that while our arms burn right along with Schellea, right? I'm doing her a 7-day workout and about to die. Thank God for ibuprofen. Thought my arms were gonna fall off last night and bending over to get something off the floor (why does EVERYTHING have to fall on the floor?!) I'm going to beat that workout, though! Gotta keep at it! ❤️🌺
LOL! I did the arm workout too -- several different ones. Jerry walked in half way through one, and he couldn't even keep up. OUCH! My arms still hurt. Schellea is adorable!

When you make Simplicity 1064 measure your arm!!! I made this but the sleeves were too tight, I've never had this issue before! I became frustrated, so it's a WIP.

First of all you are no different in looks or shape than Viv! You both look wonderful. Things always will move around as we age but oh how I wish it was kind to me as you both. So good to see you happy and that things are moving along on your construction, been there and hate fixing others poor construction after the fact. Gods Blessings!
I wanted to create a cocoon kimono jacket like one I saw on line in "Soft Surroundings". I thought I could make the pattern. It turned out to be really tough, without cutting into the fabric, I found to make it out of. So I looked online for a pattern to use. I found that pattern Simplicity 8091. I love that you are showing it. That cocoon jacket was easy and worked really well with my fabric. I love it. I really like all the views. They are really popular right now. Yesterday I was at hobby lobby and got in on their sale. I ended up with 12 patterns, so I picked two that I liked the least and put them at the bottom of the pile, so they would be the ones I could take back. When I handed the girl the patterns to ring up she rang them up one by one and never even blinked when she went over 10. All 1.99. Now I don’t know if that was a fluke, but I got 12 for 1.99. It’s worth a try. Joannes let me go over 10 one time too. That time I asked and she said yes you can!

Cute top & beautiful fabric! I think perhaps the person who asked about Judy’s book doesn’t realize the variations are in the book. I didn’t know that and never could find any info about them. I just finally decided to order the books and figure it all out later. I’m still not sure if all of the variations are in the book or if there are any newer ones that aren’t in the book. I’m really excited about her system and anxious to make my first top. I just got some Pattern Ease yesterday but still need fabric. I need to order some but knits have changed drastically since I last bought any. I’m not exactly sure what’s what. 😐
ITY knits are wonderful! Judy comes up with new variations all year long. If you belong to "The Fit Club", you get the new variations.

I store my pdf's in 9 x 12 envelopes with the clasp on the back. I file them in a file cabinet by company.
I just started with SFD, I see a small video showing how to use your sloper on store patterns. I've got so many older patterns that I would love to make, but in my new "size" ( actual weight gain) I would love to see a full pattern "remake" using a sloper from SFD....have you ever considered doing something like that on a sew along?
Sorry, but I don't like to use SFD with a commercial pattern. I just try to copy the lines and style of the commercial patterns, but cut it out of SFD. Hope that makes sense.

No, you can use any simple tee or simple pant pattern. Hers are very nice though because they come with a lot of videos and pdfs

Ok, just my opinion but I think I might have also heard this. Clipping threads will dull the points of scissors so don’t use good ones for that, just use some inexpensive clips.

I love Simplicity 8637. That blue is just what I wAs looking for for McCall’s 8030.
Joy one word of advice is don’t put the marble inside the shower stall because I still regret the day I put it in my whole bathroom the marble on the walls is still shining but the one inside the shower it’s all DULL looking from soap and the chemicals that I clean it with and I cannot get it to shine again unless I call a contractor to bufF IT up again.
Marble is very porous at it absorbs everything so just be careful what you decide, you don’t want to do this job again I know exactly what you’re going through right now
I showed your comment to the tile man. He AGREES with you. He said we can take care of it if we really want it. You have to clean and wax it with something once a year. Did you do that?

I just recently made Simplicity 8637 view C for my daughter. I do believe there is an error in the pattern layout for flounce pieces. So just a note to anyone making it. I got to the assembly part and had to rearrange things. NOT FUN. Pattern Review has a member that mentions it. But of course I read that after the fact. It all worked out in the end and is a beautiful dress.

I have about six pair of Kai scissors. Some of them are dull too.
