Hello Mamas!
Before getting the hang of nursing and finding a good latch and so on, you’ll first need to experiment with a few different breastfeeding positions. There are so many different ways to hold a baby while nursing and you’ll have to try them all out to see which one works best for you. Keep watching for more breastfeeding tips!
Newborn Breastfeeding
Here, I’ve shown you some recommended baby nursing positions according to the AAP. These include the football hold for breastfeeding (often recommended for moms of twins) and the breastfeeding cradle hold, which I personally find works the best for me. It’s good to remember to alter your hold and ease up pressure on your arms and upper and lower back. For more on how to breastfeed, check out the rest of my video!
How did you like to hold your baby when breastfeeding? Did you alternate between different nursing positions? Please comment below!

I'm watching this as baby is sleeping so THANK YOU for the subtitles!
Omg thank you so much I have been in so much pain and never realized it could be a positioning issue. What a relief !
Learned a lot from your video! I didn’t notice that my baby’s having a hard time latching because of his position when we’re nursing.
These feeding positions are difficult for those having big bust which sags. So I need to lift my baby and breast. Its kinda challenging. So I sleep and feed.
Hello, thank you for the explanation! I've got a question:
Is it possible to CORRECTLY breastfeed sitting like you do in the video not using hands, arms to hold the baby if we have a pillow under?
It's coz my wrists are hurting from holding my baby for a long time.
Thank you very much for your response
Great video CloudMom demonstrating the cradle and football hold, also a great tip about alternating between the two for some relief on Mom's back and shoulder. Also great tip on having babies whole body turned facing you not just babies head. #BirthingLittleHumans
Cradle hold is better. Really nice to mothers. Foot ball hold, is it alright to keep another pillow over mother's lap to raise the baby's head and looks like prop up position of the baby? Thank you
Very informative and helpful. Thank you so much....
+Gggg Thanks for watching! :)
This was SO helpful. Thank you!
Thanks for the education
I didnt nurse my firstborn because I was in too much pain from the c-section and just had a bad experience during his birth, but if I ever have another baby I deff will breastfeed and do the football position.
I had a c section but my son won't feed using the football hold. :/
I love you... Thank you so much this video has helped me a lot.
My baby is 23 days old. Is it ok to feed her by side lying position?
Thanks a lot for your video..it was really helpful with my lo.😃
Yay! Comments like yours make my day!
I see the pillow usefull
Wonderful, thank you! I'll be doing some feeding today.
Happy I could help!
I have difficulties doing all because my baby keeps kicking and punching when positioned while my nipples are still sore from wrong latching, I dunno what to do...
cilikponpon same aswl
May want to get nipple shield while they heal but be sure not to do it for too long or baby will get use to it. I had to use it the first 2 weeks
Great video! Cloud mom
Thank you!
with the football hold the babies seems more on her back, at least thats what happens in my case.
I wish you would've shown how to do it without a pillow because I'm trying to figure out how to do it during church
***** you can cradle just with your arm, or also try using your diaper bag.
Thank you! My arm gets so tired!
o.
omg I thought this was Angela from the office
You should NEVER put your hand on the top of babies head.
I dont belive coz i dint see d chest
You are not suppose to hold the baby's head, common misconception.
