Love this episode. I was 10 yrs old. Big crush on Robin,Burt Ward. He came to a department store for autograph signing I got his picture and autograph. It was on my wall. I lost everything in fire. But I still have my precious memories I'm disabled and old now. But I love watching this video. Leslie Gore was one of my favorite girl singers. Fond childhood memories.
I had the ULTIMATE skool-boy crush onLeslie Gore and this song is one of the most inspirational to my leaving the east coast for teh west.. RIP beautiful green eyed queen....
I was a young boy singing along with Leslie on my transistor radio. Here I am at 66, singing along with her again on my I phone. Yup, tears in my eyes, gone but never forgotten. RIP Leslie Gore😥😥⚘⚘
64 here n was watching an old Ed Sullivan show n she came on. Ive always loved oldies and especially Gore’s voice. Mesmerizing. I remember listening to her on the radio at home with my mom. Those were the days❤️
I loved this song on the radio ... in '67 when I was 10. Loved this Batman episode, and the one after it. Lesley was a beautiful person. Kind and generious in her life. NEVER had anything bad to say about anyone, ever. Miss your music Lesley.....:"-(
Sure. If I could go back to the 1960s for a couple of days, but remember all the things I learned along the way. I would freak out my family and others. A teenager who speaks and behaves as a much older man.
Who's here wishing that everyone who thinks they're cool by dropping a year tag in their comments would get their fingers broken so we wouldn't have to read their stupid shit
What a wonderful song sang by the one and only Leslie gore. This record has that sultry haunting melody that only Leslie could deliver. We miss you our Leslie. You will forever be in our hearts
My fav of Leslie's.. love you Leslie....made this little boy happy in the sixties, you were my pin up (9 years old) I wish i could have met you person. RIP hug
She had such a beautiful voice! Today she would be able to live an open life as a Lesbian unlike 50 yrs ago when she was forced to carefully keep that private as many other famous people had to.
Julie Newmar was the best Catwoman and Batman had a huge crush on her! She was tall and gorgeous! I remember Leslie Gore singing this in a 1967 episode! Cit was January 19 I believe. What a great show! These episode are on MeTV on Saturdays! I give Julie Newmar so much credit as she gave up acting to care for her son who had some physical challenges. God bless you Julie!
Well, its now 2022 and this song is still just as fresh and vibrant as when I first heard it. I saw that Batman episode and it was one of my favorites. I still live this song even after over 50 years.
Thank you, John Doyle for restoring this great song to its full two verse glory. Also kudos to editing in a few clips of Catwoman into the mix, making this a nice music video.
It's hard to pick a favorite Lesley Gore song. However, if I had to pick only one masterpiece of her career, it would be this one. Oddly enough, this one was not written or produced by Quincy Jones. It is Marvin Hamlisch and the Four Seasons' producers, Gaudio and Crewe, who put this together and they deserve our thanks. Beautiful job, all around.
I watched this episode with my dad! We had a deal i watched rat patrol, he watched batman...lol I miss those '60's. Nothing better. take care freind. Be safe! Yes, I had a crush on Leslie I was 9 years old!!!!
The only episode of Batman that turned into a Musical. Leslie comes out in the middle of the show and starts singing ' California Nights'. The episode was in 1967, the year I graduated from the GREAT Allen Park High School. Leslie played Pussy Cat, Cat Woman's assistant. Think a thought for the Great Leslie Gore. One of the best Balladeer's of the 1960's. Rob McLellan
This is the first Lesley Gore song I listened to on Batman. I wasn't born when California Nights came out in early 1967. I believe this was her last top hit. I seen Batman as reruns. I was 13 when I seen this episode in the summer of 1989. I never get tired of listening to Lesley and watching Batman, my late friend would agree. Anything from the past will always live on.
Well, I watched this episode in 1967. I had a deal with my Dad. I would watch Rat Patrol with him and he would watch Batman with me. I now remember this and wish I could go back in time and get to watch both those TV shows with my Dad, all over again. Ha passed away 20 years ago this year. Funny, my dad told me that he really liked this two part Batman segment the best of all the shows. Me TO! RIP Lesley. I was 9 years old in that 1967 January. Loved you then. Miss you now. To all that don't know.....Ms. Gore had the reputation of being the most gracious Star in Hollywood at time. She never had a bad word to say about anyone...ever. That's true STARDOM!
Quincy Jones was her manager. Poor Quincy he has lost so many people dear to him in the recent decade. Let's pray he hangs around for a little while longer.
One of the greatest moments in the original Batman TV series from the 1960's was when Lesley Gore (as Pussycat) lip-synched her song ''California Nights'' on a Catwoman episode of the Batman TV show.
I've always considered this one of the best produced records of the decade. Ethereal. Makes me want to go skinny-dipping at night with some wahine again...
Loved Her and this song. Never tire of it, even at the age of 68. Had a crush on Her. She was a great talent and gorgeous. Reminded Me of a Girl that I adored in High School.
I'M LESLEY'S NUMBER ONE FAN I ALWAYS SING ITS MY PARTY AND I KNOW ALL THE LYRICS EEEEEEEEE I LOVE HER I WANT TO WATCH THIS SHOW NOOOOW!! I HAVEN'T WATCHED IT!!
Leslie Gore was one of my favorite female singers. Had a crush on her for many years. I was 18 in 1967 and played this song on my am radio in my 1957 Chevrolet HDT. I would listen to this song when I was in Vietnam & Thailand in 69/70 Leslie Gore will always be in my heart with here songs.
I remember watching this at age 13, this episode aired in the Winter of 1967. That gal woke me up to the opposite sex at that critical age. Miss Gore was cutness on steroids back then. So nice some 50 years later to be 4or 5 mouse clicks away from Miss Gore and this classic Oldie.
Leslie was fantastic as Pussycat, love when she sang the 2 songs and the part when wants to sing with a background record and Catwoman says no you can't sing, your too short.
Julie was by far the best Catwoman! the African American Catwoman was outspoken about the Vietnam War at the time, and was banned from getting any work in America, I believe she went back to France for a while.
TruthOldSchoolStyle You're referring to Eartha Kitt. Yes, she was blacklisted for criticizing LBJ and the Vietnam War. She made her comeback from Europe in the 80s and then had a restart in the States.
this was an American pop culture and camp at its best, I wonder why they never tried this on lost in space, since the two shows were competing head to head with each other
Great sound in the headphones. I always wished the chorus did not vamp out as soon as it did at the end and continued for another bar or two (or three or four lol)...
John Doyle agradezco que me haya dicho cuál otro nombre y apellido tenía el que hizo de Robin en este programa de los sesentas ahora otra pregunta por último que quisiera saber es en que mes nació este artista

There has never been a greater Catwoman than Julie Newmar.
Never been a single other attempt to even come close
Never been a hotter Catwoman than her? Sure. Greater???
@jennymagidsagree❤on1925
My personal favorite ❤
I was so in love with lesley gore and her voice..
Voice arrangements were awesome and reminded me of my first love

Who's here in Jun 2020 wishing we could go back to this time....
May 2021 for me
Sure. If I could go back to the 1960s for a couple of days, but remember all the things I learned along the way. I would freak out my family and others. A teenager who speaks and behaves as a much older man.
If there is such a thing as time travel I'll be first in line but please let me know what I know now I'm 72 I think I might be dangerous though
@@nativecree3366This is an incredible time to be alive and witness these current events.

Gorgeous voice. Such a sweetheart. RIP Lesley. You'll always be loved so much!🌹🌹👏
I first heard this song watching "Batman" and has been a favorite ever since. R.I.P Leslie.
This was Lesley's last big hit. Written by Marvin Hamlisch and Howard Liebling, it made #16 on the Billboards Top 100 Pop charts in 1967.
My fav of Leslie's.. love you Leslie....made this little boy happy in the sixties, you were my pin up (9 years old) I wish i could have met you person. RIP hug
Ty Chuck never knew!
She really is cute and she's a great singer
Beautiful, sweet, loving Lesley. You will always be remembered and loved with so much appreciation and respect.
She had such a beautiful voice! Today she would be able to live an open life as a Lesbian unlike 50 yrs ago when she was forced to carefully keep that private as many other famous people had to.
RIP Leslie Gore
In 1993 I saw Leslie at Oldies Concert with my Beautiful Girl Friend. Ah Memories. Jan and Dean..
Beatles Tributes..Lou Christy..great show...

This song is hauntedly beautiful .....like the cowsills flower girl.....it always refreshens lost memories.
Quincy knows talent when he sees and hears it. He is pushing 90 now.
I was an infant then, but have always loved Leslie's singing. Smart lady, she got her degree during her fame.
I love Lesley. A beautiful Jewish girl.

Dude! FANTASTIC re-edit of audio. I can hear so much more in this version. I believe this was Leslie’s most beautiful song. Thanks!
Robert James man
I love this song, more than anything the chord progression in this hook very much.
Watched this show as it happened. Good times. Happy heavenly birthday to Leslie.

Brill Building invades Gotham City. Great times--I was 11 and entranced in '67 with Lesley. And Julie Newmar, of course.
Leslie Gore ranks very high in the beautiful female voice category.
YES SHE DOES!!!
Everything about her was PERFECT!
Oh God this makes me happy.
Quincy Jones was her manager. Poor Quincy he has lost so many people dear to him in the recent decade. Let's pray he hangs around for a little while longer.

Saw her and it was like KA-BLAMM! And DOWN GOES FRAZIER, DOWN GOES FRAZIER! And I ain't got up off the floor since.
Lesley Gore appearing on Batman somewhere in 67 on an episode with Julie Newmar aka Catwoman
TruthOldSchoolStyle It was Eartha Kitt who played Catwoman and I agree with her outspokenness on this terrible war of atrocities!!
I’m watching this episode right now.
Leslie Gore, Stevie Nicks, and Brenda Lee have very distinctive voices.
Nice Job 👌 Editing!
Thank You for Posting
Fabulous!

Wonder if she had a crush on Catwoman?
Lol I sure did!!!

Henchman Templar (far left) was George Sawaya, who was in "Batman, The Movie", released in the summer of 1966.
this was an American pop culture and camp at its best, I wonder why they never tried this on lost in space, since the two shows were competing head to head with each other
2 words, JULIE NEWHART 💗
watched this on abc
Only Leslie!
In real life, Lesley Gore would've been giving the hots to Catwoman instead of Robin. And honestly, who can blame her? ;-)
Lesley was gay but as far as I know the Catwoman actress Julie Newmar was not.
Well who ever knows.
I do not say gay. Only sexual preference. Anyway, it was an entertaining performance.
Anyone watching this gem in 2021?
I remember watching the episode! I was 8 years old! Batman had a crush on Julie Newmar as Catwoman!
My cuz ❤
SCOTTY, GET THOSE DAMN SHIELDS UP!!! I JUST CANT DO IT CAPTAIN, I JUST DON'T HAVE THE POWER!!!!!!!
Great sound in the headphones. I always wished the chorus did not vamp out as soon as it did at the end and continued for another bar or two (or three or four lol)...
saw the original broadcast of this epp...rip leslie
jeff kendall So did I !!
She did this Batman appearance as a favor to her uncle Howie Horowitz. R.I.P. ♣
Goodnight, sweet Pussycat.
+WytZox1 Hmmm ? I Never knew Pussycat (Lesley Gore) & Producer Howie Horwitz were Uncle and Niece.
Howie Horwitz was established as the long-time producer of ABC's 77 Sunset Strip.
Being on Batman singing her latest release helped Lesley. It wasn't a favor to anybody.
Michael ME I’m 73. Early 60s fabulous then A senseless war
Brill Building Gem
Lucky Burt Ward!
