The FUTURE of Critter Country | Will they continue to evolve to Tianas?

- Disney released concept art yesterday of two new updates to gift shops in Critter Country. The Briar Patch will become Ray's Berets while part of Pooh Corner will become Louis' Critter Club. What does this mean for the future of Critter Country. Will the updates to Tiana's continue. Or will Critter Country survive.

i wish they would go back to shops that are themed with merchandise specific to the area. I hate that most of the shops now have generic merch in them. Part of the joy was going into the various shops during the day and then having to decide as it got later what you actually wanted. This then entailed running across the park to pick it up. Ah. The joys of youth.
Yes, I remember that as well. Made people enter a shop with high expectations and curiosity.
Land specific merch was top tier Disneyland
Gotta be honest, the Princess and the Frog footprint seems unnecessarily massive in Disneyland right now. 1 E-ticket attraction, 1 quick service restaurant, and 3 different stores?? That's a lot for ONE movie/IP. Personally, this seems like overkill, specifically the re-theming of Pooh Corner. That seems gratuitous.
And it certainly isn't the most popular IP there is. this is no Frozen like mega IP
Yes, too much!
Agreed, it really doesn’t make sense to take so much real estate dedicated to a movie that only grossed $104 million in the US….
Agreed! I’m fine with the ride but it’s all too much now…. Couldve make it generic critter country themed stores & had them flow together
They’re just making a new Tiana’s land at this point
As someone who loves Princess and the Frog more than other bigger ips like Frozen, Tangled and Moana. This massive representation for Tiana in Disneyland is both well thought out and greatly welcomed. Likewise, as a massive Pooh fan, I’m glad they aren’t overtaking that part of the land ether.
Hungry bear gets its name from Country Bear Jamboree. Like you mention when an attraction goes is replaced they like to leave a little history behind. Except for Splash they have erased everything sadly. I miss hearing zippidy do da in the parks. It made me happy.
Disney doesn’t care unfortunately. Barely anybody wanted this re-theme.
@@Scooopity no re-themes are asked for by anybody. They happen and we move on. Not a big deal
They probably washed out Splash’s name from everything because they are afraid of potential backlash, it almost seemed like a gut reaction when everything went down in 2020 to try and get rid of everything with any racial connotations
@@stevencramsie9172 No we don't move on. And this retheme isn't happening, either. When I take over Disney there will be no more rethemes. Hope you enjoy a Disneyland stuck in the 20th century, shackled to the "What would Walt do?" mantra. I will Make Disney Great Again.
@@stevencramsie9172 Yes and no. Ask anyone that remembers the PeopleMover and we are still salty about that one. Getting ride of Circle Vision and replacing it with Astro Blasters most people thought it was a good move.
Coming from someone who loves this movie I feel like this is a bit of an overkill. We already have Edora's store, Tiana's palace, and the ride. I understand retheming the Briar patch since it's literally right in front of the ride but changing Pooh's corner seem's too much. I was actually excited when they annouced that it would be rethemed to Princess and the Frog because it's one of my favorite movies but then seeing the final ride concept has me worried. I really love the original love story she has with Naveen and music so I was disappointed when they annouced it wasn't going to be themed directly from the movie. It seems like they "girl bossed" her and made it all about her business which is fine but I worry that it might not meet up to the expectations of what made the movie so special.
14.00 Hungry Bear is literally sacred according to the Disneyland Forward proposal, as Hungry Bear and Piretes were listed as Historic Buildings in California 😀
AS they ARE! Hungry Bear Restaurant is ICONIC! It has been a down country cozy and adventurous eating oasis for decades! Eating out amongst the trees, next to the river, With the Mark Twain going by and the steam locomotives chugging past... I adored it as a child in the 60's and I still do today!
Ray is voiced by Jim Cummings. The voice of Winnie the Pooh. Jim Cummings Land confirmed!
The Tiana’s Bayou Adventure update provides an even better transition from New Orleans Square to Critter County. I see this as an enhancement for both lands.
I always did feel kind of weird having it right next to the haunted mansion.
Only kids let’s go to the bayou says no one
Agreed!
Maybe the only plus....
I am SO sick of all the generic merch available EVERYWHERE. Remember when special stores sold special merch? Get ready for Hungry Gator Resturant. Say goodbye to Pooh. They don't want to transform into a Tiana Land? What about plans for Tangled and BATB lands? They truly believe that ONE IP can anchor a whole land.
I agree. Yes, I remember the shops being more tailored to the theme of a location.
Zipadee doodah Zipadee doodah! Bring back Zipadee doodah!!! I think they will have that side of the park all done by D23 convention in late August.
@@user-ek3ug2qq1q Zip-A-Dee-Doo-Dah will be playing in Disneyland for its centennial and even earlier. And Crooked Bob will be booed off the stage at D23.
@@stanfordite1splash mountain was trash, its gone and never returning, get over it and move on
@@CosmeAcajor Splash Mountain is not trash and not closed. Wake up, there is no Tiana coming. Splash Mountain will be there for the centennial in 2055 but Tiana won't. I was there and have my Splash Mountain ride photo dated July 17, 2055. And I will be taking over Disney myself and making it great again in part by one allowing the purists to visit.
It's wild to me that a 15yo Princess movie that barely grossed over 100 million is getting a ride, a whole restaurant and two gift shops.
It’s a good movie & fits with the theming of New Orleans square
It is wild . I enjoyed the movie but this is too much
I wouldn’t call $104.4 million barely clearing in addition with the $271 million worldwide. People love to passively complain.
It's wild to me that a 78yo movie about a post abolition sharecropper that barely grossed $65 million, got a ride.
Yeah... sounds weird when it's phrased that way doesn't it @porkins74
@@BernardManansala and in today's dollars that $65M would be closer to $780M, your "barley grossed" point is invalid. What would have been a better argument is why did Bob chose a movie that at the time of he ride creation (1989) hardly anyone had seen? Or why he chose to keep the name "Splash Mountain" when the original ride was meant to be themed to the box office flop "Splash"
I will never get over the Splash Mountain change even though a misty swampy bayou beside Haunted Mansion makes sense in terms of transition. Honestly the reality of not hearing the Zippedy do dah loop in the park saddens me beyond words. I'm more concerned they have plans on re-imagining Frontierland which would be absolute sacrilege. #notmydisney
Respectfully, it would be healthy for you to work on getting over it or move on and btw “move on” does not mean getting angry about things that have not even happened
@@deee71194 Thanks friend. Respectfully this is the way I feel and don't need your advice. Have a magical day.
@@deee71194 It would be more healthy to seize Disney in a hostile takeover and undo the entire Iger era to Make Disney Great Again like I will. I will be the Donald Trump that Disney needs.
I agree with you, I love the sounds of Splash Mountain like Zip-a-Dee-Doo-Dah and How Do you do? And Everyone’s Gotta Laughing Place. It’s got that Disney magic sound to it. It’s iconic.
@@deee71194people don't need to get over anything or move on. Let people have memories and miss things. That's what keeps them coming back. And a lot of "updates", are worse than what they replaced. Look at Tomorrowland. Tiana's still has a lot to prove, and maybe it will be better than splash. But that doesn't make up for the fact that splash touched many people's hearts and holds a place in their memories. And there's nothing to be ashamed of in that.
I wish I felt like you do about this land. I am really loosing faith, and hope in Disney for many reasons
The type of person that complains about this would absolutely misspell *losing.
Perhaps she spelled it correctly!
I would love if they would expand Critter Country and add back Bug’s Land maybe. I miss that place but I love this addition to the land. New Orleans Square and Critter Country are my favorite areas in Disneyland. Thanks for all the great info
These conversation type of Freshbaked videos are my FAVORITE!!!
I am 40, I grew up going to Disneyland, so I am old enough to recall the country bears. I remember being so disappointed when they closed it down and did pooh. I can understand wanting the tie in the shops in the area to the only two rides that land has. But maybe it could have been a way to bring Critters from other movies in to the land. Then the hungry bear wouldn't seem so out of place, seeing it didn't get a pooh make over.
#savesplashmountain #savecrittercountry and #savethemanyadventuresofwinniethepoohride at Disneyland Resort
It all makes sense now. New landscaping in front of haunted mansion will become more decisively, a haunted swampy bayou.
The Bayou becomes an entire new land.
I think the Pooh Corner retheme is actually pretty smart in a way because that specific side is pretty unremarkable in terms of theming. Adding a more noticeable storefront would definitely increase foot traffic and I doubt they'll really do anything to the inside.
As usual, I think you're right on the money. Critter Country will carry on with critters from The Princess and the Frog replacing the critters from Song of the South. Plus, it just works. New Orleans isn't in a bayou. They're separate but related, and Princess and the Frog is the perfect connection between the two. And I'd never thought about the potential connection into Disneyland Forward. If that long term project is to be an extension of Disneyland, Critter Country is the most likely place for that extension to "attach" to the existing park.
I see the critter theme expanding and agree with your thoughts. That’s a lot closed at one time so that’s a bummer. In the end it will all be worth it.
At the recent Anaheim Planning Commission vote for Disneyland Forward it was mentioned that there are three sites in Disneyland of Cultural and Historical Significance. Those are Main Street Station, Pirates of the Caribbean, and The Hungry Bear. Disney stated they have no plans to alter those three buildings, though they may be impacted by noise pollution due to construction "in their vicinity." Hungry Bear isn't going anywhere. Neither is Critter Country. Tiana's Bayou Adventure will be in Critter Country and not New Orleans Square.
Also Hungry Bear Restaurant will remain OPEN during the transformation of the shops.
/rant
It does make sense. New Orleans Square is the city, Haunted Mansion (still in New Orleans) is the suburbs, the salt mine (TBA) marks the transition from city to the wild, aka Critter Country. That is a wonderfully flowing narrative that people are overlooking. It's tying an entire section of the park together. Love it or hate it, it makes a lot of sense. Not to mention judging it before you see it is close-minded.
/end rant
YAY!
Yes! I had the exact thought about the flow of the story. It's great planning.
I’ve seen a couple of news outlets say in articles that Harbor Galley and Hungry Bear will remain open, but we shall see after May first. It’s so crazy though that they are willing to have so many things shut down in the park at the same time, especially during the Summer. I’m trying to stay optimistic about it all, but I’m definitely sad about them taking part of Pooh Corner. And I hope they don’t touch the Hundred Acre Wood when doing the pathway work they mentioned in the press release.
Exactly!
Tiana's Bayou Adventure is where New Orleans meets the country south of Louisiana up into the Appalachian mountains, where are a lot of these critters live. I think its a great blending point. People really underestimate how popular Tiana is with younger Disney and Disney Parks fans.
You know I was there last Tuesday and was fortunate enough to get at least one last picture in front of the briar patch shop, and even luckier to find the old Splash Mountain poster that use to hang in one of the entrances under the train when entering Main Street. It was a very bitter sweet visit. I’m going to miss Splash Mountain dearly and to those who say “what are you upset about? It’s still going to be the same ride” I say no it’s not. Same track and it’s a log flume sure but a ride is more than that it’s about the experience of it all especially when it come’s to Disney’s rides. Guardians of the Galaxy is a good example, sure it’s a same drop tower as Tower of Terror but the music you get in Guardians makes it a whole new ride. And the music from Splash Mountain is probably what I’m going to miss the most, it fit so well with the ride and you know at the very least I wish they could’ve kept the Splash Mountain melodies playing in the park especially when first arriving. I’ll still ride the new ride, I’ll be sporting my splash mountain apparel every time I do
I was shocked to hear David say Splash wasn't sacred to him, but Hungry Bear is???
@@seanallen8197 oh I didn’t catch him say that but yea that is crazy I never thought the food there was ever that good
I'm glad I got my fill of Heffalumps and Woozles the last time we went.
I suspect that there is NO such thing as having ones 'fill' of Hephalumps and Woozles! If I may be so bold!
I had to look up what was in that spot before Pooh Corner. It was Crocodile Mercantile, the Splash Mountain gift shop. If anything says Critter Country is here to stay its bring in a spiritual successor to an Original Critter Country Store.
You know the thing that concerns me is the loss of the Hungry Bear for those months it will be closed..the area looks grim as it is but the HB has life and is a busy place...just going to mess up dining for alot of people..
I don't think I'll be going anytime soon...
I hope they replant the cypresses from the Haunted Mansion exit!
They won't look right until 50-60 years from now but, as Mickey would say, oh well!
Worth a second watch! Wonderful to just discuss and learn what may become.
After Disney fought to wrest rights to Winnie (from Milne family?)and eventually won after who knows how long a battle, I can’t imagine them ever forsaking the bear. Critter country is unique and has a charm all its own. Does anyone else remember the massive restroom that was taken up by splash mountain? Or the mile long bar (no booze) ? I loved the way hungry bear restaurant was the “ end of the line” that hardly anyone frequented in the old days, especially at night. It was peaceful.
In a previous video, you mentioned that there was a place in Splash Mountain where you heard a snoring bear. I remember years ago that when walking that path, you walked past a cave with a snoring bear on your way to what was then Bear Country. It was later renamed to Critter Country with the arrival of Splash Mountain. I can understand the Briar Patch being rethemed to fit its location, but continuing on to Pooh Corner is overkill. Such a large piece of the park given to one IP.
And Cars, Star Wars and Marvel aren't????? I think David made it clear, they want the gift shop to be half and half. Plus Pooh Corner was a bad name
@@carries.213 Cars, Star Wars and Marvel have their own lands. What started as a retheme for Splash Mountain eventually became a store on Royal Street in New Orleans Square, then taking over a restaurant and now digging further into Critter Country. This IP is not a land like the others.
Can’t wait to see how it all turns out!
Us, too!!
It would have been nice to have 2 shops with critters from different movies, any other movies... Also, the walls at HM will have to be pushed back before Fantasmic opens in May as the bottom walkway will have to be kept open to foot traffic and cannot be used for viewing. There is also no viewing on the "upper deck" either, so maybe a couple hundred people can watch the show from the front???
Great show! I agree that it will be in Critter Country. Thanks for the updates Fresh Baked!
I'm so grateful that I'm flying in before the closure.
I'll plan a trip hopefully again next year to see the finished projects. ❤
Oh my gosh, I saw you on Friday the 15th in passing at California Adventure and I was so excited 😂
Regarding the updates or changing of critter country, I feel like Disneyland needs updates overall, a second wind, if you will. We’re long overdue for it, so I feel like it could still be critter country esque, technically, but the desire to hold on and never move forward is kind of annoying.
Lastly, it only makes sense to evolve the stores etc to match.
Guessing I’m in the minority here, but I would have rather they turned Hungry Bear into Tiana’s Palace and made it a higher tier restaurant closer to the look and feel of the movie rather than French Market. They could have changed Critter Country to the Bayou and just have gone all the way with it. Pooh would have posed a problem, but it wouldn’t be the first time some didn’t quite fit with a land. It would still fit in with New Orleans Square but been its own thing.
Hey Fresh Baked!!
Ha saw you making this while I was hosting pooh and friends, you are very popular my friend, good job
You mention the walls at Haunted Mansion will be up until at least August, severely limiting space in that area... but Fantasmic comes back in May? How's that going to work?
A bit cozy fer sure!
Man, people act like the whole pooh area is being demolished. It's just a couple store fronts. None of this should be a surprise. It does suck that attractions are down, so if someone only gets in one visit a year, maybe dont go right now. It is what it is, but that area and ride, and new haunted mansion queue I bet will be worth it in the end.
I think it’s the idea that many spaces are being used for one theme/Ip.
Not just a ride and restaurant, but also multiple stores (behind pirates, exit haunted mansion mama odies, Ray’s shop, and part of Pooh corner).
You could enjoy a movie like I enjoyed the princess and the frog, but people are just feeling like it’s overkill. I know people sometimes point to Star Wars but you can use the excuse that it was multiple movies spanning multiple generations of different films. Just a thought
@emilyfink1185 It's just stores that all sell the same stuff in them anyway, so it doesn't bother me 🤷♀️ And the new shop next to the haunted mansion will be haunted mansion themed.
what the heck is "IP"?
@@barrymac1951I believe it’s intellectual property
@@AlyssatheSim thank you.
This is turning into a Shrine to Tiana. Disneyland is a very busy, noisy place. Pooh corner is a calm quiet area to escape to. It’s especially beloved by very young children who all love Winnie the Pooh. What’s the excuse now.. racist bears? Leave Pooh corner as is, we already lost Splash 💦.
Cry
You’re only giving up 1/3 of Pooh corner, it nothing that serious
Pooh Corner was a retheme of a crocodile themed splash mountain gift shop. Now it’s getting rethemed to an Alligator themed exit gift shop. It all feels very much a part of the park’s history
There’s no reason to touch the Pooh corner gift shop. We have 3 shops dedicated to the princess and the frog theme announced. And a restaurant and ride. It’s weirdly in your face now
Indeed! It should be a shrine to Pooh, Piglet, Tigger, Eeyore, Kanga, Roo and Owl... oh bother... whom have I forgotten?
I LOVE the scenery and beauty at the Hungry Bear restaurant 💞😍. 🌸
Just a dream, but imagine if they closed Pooh and brought back the Country Bears in a new bayou themed show that they're going to debut in MK along side a rethemed Pecos Bill's as Tiana's Place?
Pecos Bill's is not getting rethemed.
I am so excited for it to open so soon!
They better keep Tiger Tails, those are my family and I's favorite treat in all of Disneyland!!
The Hungry Bear restaurant is sacred? News to me.
The Hungry Bear is effectively the last vestige of Bear Country and has nothing to do with the Critter Country theme. It's just like the Rocket Pods of Tomorrowland, which is a throwback to the steampunk makeover that failed so badly, in that the area it was designed to fit into no longer exists. As long as they keep a restaurant with the menu intact, there's no reason at all that the theme can't be changed. In fact, it might actually be good if they changed it to a Winnie the Pooh theme to extend the 1000 Acre Wood area. I suspect that it's only old folks like me who know what the Hungry Bear's theme is really about.
The briar patch building is the last of Indian village
Hungry Bear Restaurant IS sacred to me! As sacred as Rancho del Zocalo, The Plaza Inn and Carnation Café!
I believe they said that the hungry bear restaurant in the anaheim city council meeting was a historic landmark. Now I may be quoting all that wrong. But I do rememfor something to that extent. I believe they should keep it hungry because of all of the things that would have to change. They actually changed the restaurant the signing and they also probably would have to change The message on the mark twain. I think keeping it all critter country is totally okay.
I don’t have a problem with change I just have a problem with so much of the park being closed when you’re spending so much money to go there.
seems like 2024 is a dead year for Disneyland! To much is closed, for the price of entry. Sad they didn't think this through.
Splash, Mansion, and Pirates are my favorite part of the park. 9/15/2024 return date?
At some point the needs to keep up with an evolving world and update and retheme. Sure it sucks but it’s extremely necessary. If Disneyland stayed exactly the same since it first opened in 1955 it wouldn’t be what it is today’s. Change is inevitable
Aggree, but better planning on when to close parts and referb them to space them apart is smart! Disneyland isn't doing smart very often. @@sonidoacuario845
I think New Orleans square is like the town and Tiana’s area will be the bayou area.
First, sir, always love the videos and THANK YOU. Now -- and sorry if you already covered this but -- I read in the DisneylandForward EIR that Hungry Bear is staying because it's (wait for it) Historic. That is, "... the Hungry Bear Restaurant was identified as eligible for listing in the National Register of Historic Places under Criterion A for 'its association with the second phase of renovation and expansion of Disneyland in the 1970s,' and under Criterion C as “a good example of Rustic/Theme Park style architecture.” Thoughts? Cheers, Fresh Baked!
Imo, Fantasyland theater/area will eventually be changed to a new 'Pooh' mini-land with ANOTHER children's play-area next door to ToonTown, a large 'pooh' merch shop, food and a new ride...even the train-station will be re-themed to 'pooh' > this fits perfectly with the Fantasyland area in general.
The old pooh ride will be re-done to the Tiana critters....Hungry Bear will be re-named Hungry Critters.
This was one of the proposed ideas when Toontown was being designed. The Toontown project was a 4 year build it would have been a much larger space than what was built. The Park asked for something smaller at the time.
I’ve always thought Hungry Bear should be slightly converted into a Hungry Pooh Bear restaurant… there could be Pooh character meet and greet.
Have fun at Disneyland David
I also think it’s important to note that Magic Kingdom’s Splash Mountain in Florida had TWO gift shops. The Briar Patch on the main path in Frontierland and Splashdown Photos at the ride’s exit. It’s obvious that both coasts rides are being developed at the same time so it doesn’t surprise me at all that DL’s version is receiving two Tiana named shops. Rumors have stated that eventually Pecos Bill’s in Florida will be a Tiana’s Palace too. Disney has also as of late been really into copy and pasting rides too. Just some food for thought
I should also add as a Midwestern viewer who considers himself a Disney Worlder that the conversation east of the Mississippi has focused on the thematics issue created in Florida and how it’s left thunder mountain in an odd spot. For us East coasters, it makes total sense for CC to be absorbed in to New Orleans Square. We either forget or don’t know that Pooh is located there and not in Fantasyland. Disney has created an interesting theming dilemma on both coasts. I agree with what he said in the video that the problem has been solved on the west coast by continuing on with the Critter Country theme and putting the focus on them. Heck even the WDW Railroad narration for a while had references to the critters. Regardless I’m still excited for the finished product!
One final thought on how to solve the WDW theming problem is to just plain and simply rename Frontierland to River County (controversial idea I know). The country bear section could be the Cumberland River area, Tiana’s and Tom Sawyer represent the Mississippi and Big Thunder could be themed after the Colorado River along with a portion of the beyond big thunder expansion pad…
If they are redoing the whole land then I'm curious what they do with hungry bear. I'm curious if that is going to get a retheme.
I saw the dead zone if walls happing. Not just closing critter country but having fantasmic potentially starting up this summer. Its going to be a mess
I don't think Critter Country is going away. New changes of the gift shops rely in Critter IP and actually create a great flow from the City of New Orleans (Square) through the country where the Salt Dome is, and finally to the actual Bayou area filled with Critter IP, even though it is a mixture. Critters from all areas get along in Disney Country.
I don't care what anyone says, Ray's Berets is so gosh darn cute.
No one has a clue who that is
@@Diana-qf5ik Can you stop spouting nonsense in these comments? Your comment history is insane.
Pooh is British story but there are Louisiana Black Bear
You can’t call it an adventure if you stay home in NOS… you need to go to CC for the adventure! Real Question is Will Lou’s Club be (DVC) area?
Please no!
Pooh can be in the bayou. Louisiana has bears~
Closing all of critter country for a couple gift shops seems excessive, so there must be something more invasive happening. Maybe replacing all the concrete or something along those lines.
Magic Kingdom has new cobblestone pathways, maybe part of the queue. But IMO I dont think the cobblestone works in Critter Country. At Critter Country they could be adding/replacing trees and plants. Reason to close the land
If part of the potential DL Forward expansion is in the area just past Critter Country, is that a potential site for Pandora? It seems like CC would provide a better transition to "alien forest" than many of the other projected locations - the Hollywood Backlot, Autopia, etc... Maybe they can connect it through to Galaxy's Edge as well, which would be another logical transition. Plus, I'd rather see Avatar somewhere new, rather than likely replacing existing attractions (take your pick of Redwood Creek, Soarin', Grizzly River, Mermaid, etc..)
Ray and Louie are critters. It's staying Critter Country
It is all okay with me. "Honor the past but dont live in it" is my motto.
look like Kanga and Roo get band out there house That sad ☹
Very sad and dern blasphemous to boot!
Maybe this is why when I went for my birthday in November that the only plush Pooh Corner had were Eeyore and Winnie The Pooh Bear.
Oh no! I’ll be there in May and I’m so sad I’ll miss critter country .
Between Rays and Winnie the Pooh, Critter Country now seems like Jim Cummings land! 😂
Critter country will be closed for a month. Tearing down the old splash mountain structure at the entrance location.
i’m confused about all this real estate focused on one ip, and i would say this about ANY disney ip. don’t get me wrong, i love princess and the frog and i’m excited for the updated attraction, but there is already a restaurant and also a shop named for eudora, who’s minimally in the movie. why two more shops themed around more patf characters? if critter country needs diversification, what about a pocahontas store with meeko and flit prominent? or how about something around bugs life or bambi? there are many great options. spread the love, disney!!
So the Pooh ride will be down from May 1st? Already gutted about Haunted Mansion. It’s my first visit at the start of May, coming from the uk 🥲 hope nothing else closes!!
…..Disneyland should be AVOIDED in 2024!
Are the canoes remaining open?
As casual Disney and Disneyland fans from Washington, my wife and I think everything they're doing in NOS and Critter Country will flow beautifully together when all is said and done. It's just a shame it's all being done at once. We feel sorry for people coming from really far away on visits planned months or years previous only to find such a huge chunk of the park closed down.
I got the feeling that Critter Country will have a bit of a Louisiana feel. Closing the whole land to retheme the walkways, dig them up and pour new concrete.
@11:35 how wide is the pathway behind Pooh's Corners ( Louis' Critter Club). Does anyone have a link for a video or pics that show how it looks like?
If let's say it was the case that they wanted to sync the opening of the new critter country updates with Tiana's bayou. Opening, it really doesn't make sense as to why they would need to close Critter country may 1st if tianna's was say gonna open in october. They could probably get away with updating the critter country portion maybe like a couple months ahead. I don't really think that they need six months for that. So I hope that's not really the case since I want a plan to go there in September, And I'd like at least critter country to be open, cause I do like hungry bear. And what I guess would have been pooh's corner shop
They should add a dark ride in Critter Country themed to Jungle Book. There’s room behind the country with some backstage stuff. If they got rid of the one third of the Pooh gift shop it leaves plenty of room for a queue and entrance/exit to a Jungle Book ride, with the show building taking up part of the backstage area. Ray’s Berets can be the Tiana’s ride gift shop and they could just add Jungle Book merch to Ray’s Berets and Pooh Corner gift shop. They could also downsize the Hungry Bear restaurant and add a small Jungle Book gift shop. The Hungry Bear restaurant is never crowded, never has been, and the food has never been that great. I know everyone’s attached to it being bear themed because of the loss of the Country Bear Jamboree but it’s time to move on from that, folks. The Jamboree has been gone for 23 years. Theme the restaurant more to Critter Country (“Critter Country Kitchen”) and please for the love of god do SOMETHING about the awful food/menu there.
NOTHING is “sacred” at Disneyland. CHANGE and EVOLUTION was part of Walt’s original idea/plan!
That would be a great idea. Disney has too many shops they could easily fit in some dark rides like the Jungle Book.
I see Jungle Book as , well, as a jungle theme. I would fit theme wise in Adventureland or Animal Kingdom. Critter Country is America's wilderness.( atleast it should be) It runs along the Rivers of America. I think they could add Bambi, when they expand for Disney Forward.
@@elliestevens9204 Yes! Bambi is a much better choice!
Critter Country’s closure could be worse. At this time in 2021 it had been closed for over a year 😳
Spoiler alert about Ray 😅. Thanks for your videos! Getting hyped that I'm going to Disneyland for the 1st time since the 90s and DCA for the 1st time ever.
Would Hungry Bear be closed May 1st as well?
I am sad about critter country closing very soon in May
The main reason to close the entire critter country could that they are going to redo the concrete of the land and match it to the style in Florida.
I thought the same thing...
The Disneyland Forward expansion beyond Critter Country will become a Frozen themed mini-land.
I’d love it if they extended critter country if they expand. This is what I want. Expanding on original ideas, not IP lands.
I thought the concept was to focus on the 'critter' part of TPATF in the ride (ie the bayou part where they are frogs). In which case it fits Critter Country perfectly. And the 'human' part of TPATF in New Orleans Square (ie the restaurant and store). There was no Song of the South merch for sale in Critter Country other than the occasional Splash Mountain pin or cup right? So it's not really all that different to the proposed TPATF set up.
Aaaaand you mention this at the end of the video 😂 I think you're spot on. The ride is going to be all the critters of the movie. It's the same as what they did for SOTS.
Something new is coming Would it be like separate?
I miss the snoring bear ... Agreeing that Disneyland is overkill on Princess and the Frog. Zip-pit-di-do-dah song cancelled just gets my goat. Walt Disney himself took a kids book and made it into an animated movie. Disney Company took a kids book and made it into an animated movie. Both great from different generation.
You missed the alligator on the roof of the new store
I plan on going in Sept… I hope this stuff is done then! 😢 What about fantasmic? I can’t see all that happening with all those walls!
Rumors are the Pooh Meet and Greet Area will be taken away for Princess and the Frog Meet and greets. Are these just rumors or any truth to it?
My two issues are just no dr facilier shop and rumors are Pooh won't be seeing any upgrades, I think the ride could use some new effects.
I will say at nighttime this land will be beautiful with Fireflies everywhere
I imagine there will be ride specific merch to bolster Tiana’s stuff, just like for Runaway Railway.
My Prediction: Critter Country stays and it will lead into the new extension which will start as you enter the enchanted Forrest from Frozen 2 (where Elsa now lives) and then it will open up to Arendelle Frozen Land in the new area across the street.
There will be no Frozen land, ever. And there is no Tiana coming either.
I mean disney has really highlighted the term CRITTERS in the ride so it was made with the intention to keep critter country.
Pooh is so very popular brand you cant get rid of it and if you extend new orleans to cirtter country pooh would have to go too.
Im worried for hungry bear changing, it the last remnants of country bears besides the pooh dark ride easter eggs
And, thusly, Winnie The Pooh and Hungry Bear shall continue on! As they should, and in fact, must!
It's surviving however getting a revamp and theme to Tiana! I think it's going to be awesome however hopefully they can fix walk paths so crowds move and folks don't get stuck over there.
I haven’t been to Disneyland in over a year 😢just too much money right now and now with the rides etc being redone not worth the trip.
Disney stated hungry bear stays open but pooh ride closes indefinitely. My thought is WHYYYY are they closing pooh? One article i saw said they are redoin the walkways like in WDW so it will be A Lot longer than 2 mobths. Its likely to tske 6+ months and i just m st the point i feel disneyland sjould entirely close for the yr because now youre just closing half the rides dueing prime season. Its ridiculous at this point.
I've always felt having a Pooh ride in "Critter" Country seemed a little off, so I would've preferred they update Critter Country to a hundred acre wood themed area if they are getting rid of Splash Mountain.
Despite being a big Splash Mountain fan, I’m keeping an open mind about Tiana’s Bayou Adventure. However, it is very perplexing why Disney seems to be putting all of its eggs in the Tiana basket. It really doesn’t make sense to feature, what most fans consider to be a “B-level” princess at best, so prominently in the park. No other princess occupies so much real estate (a ride, restaurant, and two shops) in the parks. But somehow Tiana is the one that deserves that much attention? 🤷♂️
How many people a day do each of those rides (TBA and HM) accommodate everyday? Have you heard any rumors that Disneyland will reduce the available number of reservations through the summer to offset these ride closures? This seems like a really bad decision by Disney.
Of course they won't!
I heard that Hungry Bear will be open the rest of Critter Country will be closed.
