  • If you were one of those lucky kids who had access to the Sega Channel in the mid-1990s, you legitimately have bragging rights as one of the coolest kids ever.
Debuting in mid-1994 in Japan and the US, with further releases in various worldwide markets between 1995 and 1996, the Sega Channel was truly ahead of its time.

Genuinely never knew about this until this video. Gotta admire 90s Sega's love of taking big swings.

I was lucky enough to have one of these growing up as a kid. It really felt like you were living in the future. I loved that thing. A lot of times if a game rolled over from one month to another your progress would save. I found so many wonderful games I would have never gotten the chance to play because of it. Miss those times.

This was a gaming first and so far ahead of its time, its a shame that it was not something we could experience in Europe.

I only knew about the Sega Channel because Baba Booey on the howard stern show got in trouble for accepting it for free from Sega for his kids.

With so many people on dial up, how long would it have taken to switch between games?

250k subscribers out of about 20 million systems in the US is not as good as many would have you think.
And not a single mention to the Satellaview? Interesting...

Sega was too late with this product...Playstation emerged by then.
