Update: I incorrectly labeled the scratch notes. It reflects a 1/1 time signature, but makes no sense for 4/4. What I labeled whole notes should actually be 1/4 notes. There for, whatever I labeled should be decided by a factor of 4. I’ll address this in an upcoming video, but my apologies. Anyone who knows music theory immediately find this video cringy. But the speed exercise still stands. Nice video man..i just saw your video of why u dont use turntables & the story behind it. You made a way regardless. No excuses. Truly inspiring man..Blessings to Guitar Center.
Thank you! Controllers are just instruments. Skill and talent is what brings an instrument alive. I just want people to know that you can put life into even the most inexpensive of DJ gear.
Do you find that Controller (internal mode) is not as crisp as DVS when scratching? I set up a turntable next to my a Rane 12 and was shocked at the difference. I've always noticed it to be a little different in internal mode, but when doing it side by side, there was no comparison.
Great question, and a complex one. It depends on the device and the software. Serato: -Every Pioneer DJ controller’s jog wheel in internal I prefer over DVS. Even entry on level controllers. That is because there is resolution smoothing with the lower jogs. -On most CDJs in HID mode (also internal), I like the feel. But sometimes, I need support update can be wonky and may take a few updates from Serato to improve. Rekordbox: -Every Pioneer DJ controller with a mid to full size jog wheel, I prefer over DVS. The smaller jog wheels of the entry level controllers may show bit separation when moving the jog wheel slowly. - CDJs in HID mode are generally perfect. Traktor: - No Pioneer DJ controller is officially supported so many third party mappings can range from having heavy latency, to near okay. This is why you don’t see folks online scratching to remapped controllers on Traktor. However, this lies on how deep the mapping goes for the wheel. - CDJs in HID mode can vary. Some CDJs can be super tight, while others exhibit more latency. Virtual DJ, Algoriddim dJay, & others: - I have not tried but I’ve heard good things both with controllers and CDJs in HID mode.

Chirps have been my biggest challenge! This video is an awesome help thanks!
Love how you are teaching with the digital controller. A controller I use no less
Controllers are just another instrument for DJs or mix artists.
Excellent tutorial! Thanks Man!
My problem is getting the even on the pull. I can chirp great going forward but going in reverse I always move the fader at same time
Awesome. You keep making scratching simpler. 🙂
Thx for the Polyrhythmic explaination
You’re welcome!

I always wanted to know how to do the triplet
Just wondering if you would be able to do a video on using scratches to transition between tracks?
This is how lucky we are with the ddj-400 taking us place to the next level 💾💽🎉🎊💯💯💯
Nice video bro, I have one question can you make a video with the proper scratch settings on the pioneer ddj sx3? I'll appreciate it very much

What sample are you using to scratch with ?
I understand that

Interesting. Thanks for the videos...always fun to watch!
Rekordbox scratches do not sound good :(
