I have to tell you, you’re one of the reasons I’m happily married with a wonderful family. In 2006 I was sitting in an Army bus heading to training and heard a fellow soldier singing this song at the top of his lungs, and singing it well. It was all over from there. So, thank you for that. ❤️
I grew loving him too and still do. His songs get better everytime I hear them. The magic is still there. My sister-in-law is from Manchester so I'm sending a "Hi" from both of us.👍👍
Yes, JayVee, he was amazing and I'll bet he still is today delivering the right material because he was blessed with the goods as much as anyone ever. He was doing what he was placed here to do. Al Green was so electric I doubt he ever gave exactly the same performance ever. They were each simply amazing and heartfelt.
Probably my favorite artist is Al Green. He did become a preacher and a pastor. I love Kem and too many others to name. Try listening to Let’s Stay Together if you haven’t by Al Green.
I was introduced to Al Green when I was in my early 20s and found that I needed to listen to more than one radio station! So smooth, so soulful, so electric. Here's something from the same era that I JUST discovered recently, though, and even if you choose not to react to it, PLEASE do yourself the favor of listening to it. I promise you will be impressed. But i really think your viewers will love it as much as i do. It's Al Jarreau '76 Take Five. Al's voice is one of the best, but this is a jazz number written in 5/4 time that Mr Jarreau turns into a combination of scattin', beat box and beautiful vocalizations. In 1976! The original was written by Dave Brubeck and played by his combo with a completely different flavor from Al's version.
Wowza wow wow. Now THAT was a performance, I've never seen him perform before, and quite frankly I'm not sure I've ever heard a song sung by him before. And I'm mesmerised. He took this song and made it so much his own it was barely recognisable for its original properties. Like a work of art. Now I know what my art teacher was talking about in highschool when she told me she wanted me to take my original artwork I had made and remake it, and make it like the original but nothing like it at the same time. I didn't get it- till just now. Al Green did just that. Thankyou Al xxoo
ua-cam.com/video/ShOWFIoJlAc/v-deo.html,"Fire & Rain by Blood Sweat & Tears....The pioneers of Big Band/Jazz Rock.....Blood Sweat and Tears was born from a selfish notion that we could combine the sophistication and musical skill level of jazz music with the energy and universal appeal of rock vocal music.....Blood, Sweat & Tears is a Canadian-American jazz-rock music group. They are noted for their combination of brass and rock band instrumentation. The group recorded songs by rock/folk songwriters such as Laura Nyro, James Taylor, the Band and the Rolling Stones as well as Billie Holiday and Erik Satie. They also incorporated music from Thelonious Monk and Sergei Prokofiev into their arrangements. Check it out....They are definitely one of my Favorite bands!!!
Always loved Al Green! All of us young white girls were so ENAMORED of him! He has the COOLEST, the most SOULFUL voice I've never heard. You should check out "Let's Stay Together" -- my favorite of all his songs.
Al was the original mac daddy. Us young bucks (back in the day) could only wish that we could sing like him and have the ladies in the palm of our hands like Al. As I said Al was the original mac daddy.
I haven't watched the whole video yet but watching your reaction I believe this is Your favorite version of this song over the beegees I know it's mine
This song is about going through some pain and wondering how is it possible to even go on. The Bee Gees did a cover of this song that was a hit for them as well
Did you hear how the musicians followed where he went he was doing adlib. Well, the musicians were too. Both he and they were that good. I don’t know if The Bee Gees could even do that but al could
When I think of soul this is it and Aretha pure real soul not today's crap and how can anyone with half a brain prefer the endless pop rap pumped out today
YES he made it his own because it was his own. Al made this song before anyone ever knew there was a Bee Gee. And I know u heard the STUDIO version of LETS STAY TOGETHER but here he is live LINK: ua-cam.com/video/uSu6tcbMOu0/v-deo.html
On stage he was a god! At times he would get so sweaty that he would be down to a vest or go shirtless by the end of some songs. Until that one last time when he brought a groupie home. She must have believed that he was singing directly to her. The next morning, ol' Al (You know how us guys can be) was so indifferent toward her. When he was in the bathtub, he got hit with a pot of hot grits. Poor thing killed herself. Al became a preacher after that.
Good music man..... glad to see you enjoying us old people's music...... our music rocked and had meaning and touched your soul. Keep up the great work dude. Try Sarah smile, by Hall and Oates...... you'll love it.
@@cw5451 It was suggested by someone in Andy Gibbs camp, (I forget who?) that for his come-back he should team up with Daryl and John for colab on his songwriting. But Barry stepped in and wrote instead. Love "She's Gone." But never cared for "Sarah Smile." Go figure, huh?☺
There's a reason he's REVEREND Al Green! Everything he's ever sung is pure soul spirit. He sneaks up on you. Just love. If you're doing Annie Lennox songs, check out the Al Green/ Annie Lennox duet 'Put A Little Love In Your Heart', it's very uplifting.
Love it, JayVee, and love your reactions! I'm having a blast going down memory lane with you! How about reacting to Diana Ross and Marvin Gaye singing "You are Everything"...
I soooooo enjoy watching you groove out on all the music we grew up on, and I give you a lot of credit for wanting to get exposure to all kinds of tunes. Rock on! \w/
This was new for me, too. Excellent pick! Thanks for sharing it. I don't know a lot of 70s R&B, but one suggestion: With You I'm Born Again, by Billy Preston and Syreeta
Love your reaction sweety x how you are always so enthusiastic and charmed by the music and the singer's skills xx you seem in awe xx it's a beautiful thing to have xx

I grew up listening to this genius - I still love his music - and good looking too! love from England. (Im a girl)
I grew loving him too and still do. His songs get better everytime I hear them. The magic is still there. My sister-in-law is from Manchester so I'm sending a "Hi" from both of us.👍👍
One of my all time favorite singers. They don’t make singers like this anymore. Pure talent. He was great across all genres
Absolute Icon, love every song he ever sang. Musical genius.
I'd do anything to be sitting in that audience! Al's amazing talent shines through in this "Live" performance!
“I don’t even know what to say anymore.“ 😂 Priceless!

My favorite guy since HS! Met Al at Ravinia in Chicago. Such a nice guy!

Bee Gees cover, so influential a group. The great Al Green, I love this version.
He knew how to play to the audience. I saw him live at the cleveland rock hall concert. I feel very lucky!!

The Bee Gees did the original. They wrote it. This is Al's soulful version.
Al Green's best tune is his cover of "The Letter"
A real oldie but goodie by Al Green is Back Up Train

If you like Al, please try Lee Fields and the Expressions, I’d recommend “You’re the kind of girl” or “Make the World” you’ll love them!
Os irmãos Gibb dos beegees são os compositores dessa música

Good call! Together with Have you ever been in love, my favourite Hall and Oates song.🥂
It’s about him meeting the love of his life, Sarah. And then you have to listen to “She’s Gone,” which is about him losing Sarah.
@@cw5451 It was suggested by someone in Andy Gibbs camp, (I forget who?) that for his come-back he should team up with Daryl and John for colab on his songwriting. But Barry stepped in and wrote instead.

right on....couldn't agree with you more
The talented aspires to be Al Green. Try Al’s “Tired of Being Alone” and “Lets Stay Together” his Monster Hits!
Let’s stay together just kinda stops my world when I hear it.

Hahaha umm yeah it’s Al Green! I mean it’s Al Green, did he make a bad song?
HALLAY ~ LOO!!
All Green was smooth as silk...
he is the definition of smooth
I'd say smoother than silk................
My neighbor and I used to hand dance to this Al Greene version. And when Al sang certain notes my neighbor would dip me. I loved those days.
Yes
My parents were big Al Green fans. I didn't realize it was a cover of the Bee Gee's song until years later.
Al Green should be a household name, one of the best singers ever. Who needs bass and drums when you have pipes like his.
Legendary. He's now the pastor of a church in Memphis. How would you like that every Sunday?
Al Green is one of those artists that no 1 can duplicate.
This Man was a Legend! Every time I see him perform live I see where Prince got a little of his Swag from.
Yes!!
Look up the definition of soul in the dictionary. It just says the Reverend Al Green. Listen to I’m so in love with you, you’ll love it.🥰
This was 1st song we played at my dad's funeral. He loved Al Green.
Love it, JayVee, and love your reactions! I'm having a blast going down memory lane with you!

Two completely different interpretations, both amazing!! ❤️🎶
I soooooo enjoy watching you groove out on all the music we grew up on, and I give you a lot of credit for wanting to get exposure to all kinds of tunes. Rock on! \w/
I love both versions of this song. The BeeGees is for cuddling and Al Green’s is a long, slow dance that leads to the bedroom!
Al Green meant smooth to me. He let the energy build up. Other great Al Green songs are”Tired of Being Alone” & “ Let’s Stay Together”.
OMG!!!¡!! Love Him. Come on nie. It's All Green 💜🍏💜💜💜

Rev Al killed it man. Never heard this version before. Thank you Joyful Javon
