Tell that to the DOD and VA. You have to get at least an general under honorable conditions discharge or at best an honorable discharge to be considered a veteran. Not to mention, there are plenty marine veterans. That upgrade their other than honorable discharge to general or even better, an honorable one. When it comes to CivDiv he is a marine veteran. He got out with a general under honorable conditions. So technically by va terms and dod terms, he is a marine veteran. It's honestly sad how toxic the veteran community is, especially the marine veteran community hate on a Devil Dog that actually improve themselves. Let's be honest, most marines that get out with an honorable discharge, Don't do anything with their life. Most of them do terribly in the civilian sector and some of them even kill themselves. It's sad, but it's true. I am lucky to be alive. I thank god every day that I have a great family friends that keep me alive. I believe we should not judge someone from their discharge but their context of their character. Obviously this man's character is exemplary. But I can only hope one of these days. CivDiv can finally stop fighting wars and just enjoy his VA. Benefits and life in general. Life is too short to hate. Just enjoy what you have.

@@darthorion2002 being mistaken about his discharge versus lying about it are two completely different things dude I wasn’t lying about anything. I’d simply misunderstood the context of his discharge…. But that wasn’t the point of the conversation the point of the conversation is that people who get kicked out of the Marine Corps because they can’t hack it or not marines…. Marines do just fine in the Marine Corps… I get it. Some people have it harder than others, but the truth is nothing is expected of us that isn’t expected of one another… I don’t know this dude and I never served with him, but his story sounds an awful lot like every turd that got kicked out out of the Marine Corps that I served with…people get kicked out or try to get kicked out surrender their title in my eyes…they shouldn’t even qualify for benefits in my opinion
