    The hardest part about speaking is just convincing yourself to actually start speaking. It feels embarrassing and clumsy the first few times, but after that initial hurdle it's not nearly as scary as it seemed.

      I feel like another hard part about speaking is when you speak and expect the native speaker to answer in a particular way, but they answer in a way you have never heard before.

    Hey Shea! I love the tip about mimicking shows to practice speaking. The repetition is great for pronunciation and making the language feel more natural in your mouth when speaking. I can't wait to see how much your Italian improves once you go to Bologna! Much love 🤎

    I am mainly focused on French, but I have been trying to self-learn Greek and most recently German as I am really struggling with Greek. I have been looking at Italki for quite some time, but I have not taken the leap to book any lessons yet.

    I've been using iTalki for a few months now for Thai, Korean, and Romanian. Romanian I am relatively still new too so my tutor and I focus on basic grammar and sentences right now, but I definitely get self-conscious about talking in Korean! I end up overthinking when it comes to conjugations and word order that I sometimes blank on how to say something or, as Shea mentioned, I forget words despite studying them repeatedly with Quizlet. My Korean tutor and I are still working through Beginner level grammar, so making sure I don't stress too much over it, but I definitely have moment of frustration with Korean since I've been studying it for almost a year at this point and still at a lower-Beginner level.
    Oddly, I'm doing fairly well with Thai. Identifying tones are still a bit of a struggle in both listening and reading (and the Thai alphabet is HARD!! x.x), but I know how to reply in both writing and speaking to my tutor, but I still have moments of when I need to check my spelling with Thai script.

    Great video. 🌟 I am currently doing the italki challenge in Italian and am loving it. I agree that you have to let go and have no fear and enjoy the process. Do you have any advice on topics of conversation? I do hour long lessons and sometimes I run out of things to talk about especially if the tutor isn’t very chatty. It can be hard to find things in common sometimes and just wondering how you overcome it?

    • @rachelgregory888
      @rachelgregory888 2 роки тому +1

      It's up to the tutor to keep the conversation going, so if it's not flowing, you might want to think about changing your tutor.

      @@rachelgregory888 thank you. I’ve found it really hard to find a tutor that matches exactly what I’m looking for and someone I can have a good chat with. Maybe I need to invest more in a tutor.

    The amount of sponsored promos in your videos has made me not want to watch anymore. I loved when you first started making language content but now it all feels like an ad.

    • @SheaJordan
      @SheaJordan  2 роки тому +5

      I appreciate the feedback. But I’m leaving my job to go pursue my dreams in Italy and this is how I will support myself. This is also only my 2nd sponsored video. I use all of these resources, so why not partner with them? I never share something that I don’t think is a great language learning resource. I will continue sharing language resources and if you choose not to watch because of my sponsorships, that’s up to you. I think my videos continue provide value even when I have the support of brands.

      @@SheaJordan I think your videos are good. I didn't even notice the sponsorships.

    • @SheaJordan
      @SheaJordan  2 роки тому +1

      @@AfroLinguo I appreciate that, thank you. I know some people won’t like these sponsored videos, but I actually have turned down multiple sponsorships because I don’t think the product is beneficial or relevant to my audience. You all know I really care about my supporters and would never share something I didn’t think was helpful. I feel really lucky that I have more videos coming soon with sponsors because I’m growing this channel and can truly make this my full time source of income. This is my passion and I can only continue creating more videos if I have a way to make a living doing it! So thanks for your continued support 🎉😊
