When you defeat a boss and don’t see the “beaten” banner show up while playing a souls game, you just know shit about to get real.
Except when Sekiro pulls a fake out on you
@@serachobby nothing will come close to the amount of dread I felt when that damn monkey got back up
@@serachobby never trust a souls game until the cloak walls or any other boss area limitations dissappear and you get the "souls"
Nothing comes close to the Sister Fride shenanigans in DS3...
They even gave you a friggin' titanite slab, lol!
bruh bloodborne is the worst- I swear once you learn the patterns most bosses become far easier. But then you get Ludwig who in the middle of the fight becomes FUCKKNG MAGICAL AND SLASHES YOU INTO NEXT FRIDAY
This is what happens when the Fool’s Idol takes over Byrgenwerth.

Yep. Then proceeds to combine her powers with the powers granted to Master Willem’s followers. Her Soul Arrows & Soul Rays combined with Augur of Ebrietas & A Call Beyond would be absolutely messed up.
dude. u won this
Spot on.
Female Norman reedus from death starnding.
Not the hardest or most well executed first phase, but my god. In terms of presentation, music, aesthetics AND the first truly menacing mage-type boss, FromSoft knocked it out of the park.
@Nook Small It feels like the actual demigod we are actually fighting is Rani here.
@@toledochristianmatthew9919 yeah that bugs me off.. I haven't finish it but why are we fighting Ranni in that fight? Isn't she supposed to be friendly with us?
@@farrel_ra Because you're trying to kill her mother. Danni put magic on the egg shes carrying so if anyone tried to harm her mother she'll use an illusion to summon a copy of herself to defend her mother
@@ardaoguzhan8181 ohh so thats not Ranni in person who does that.. ok tfyi!
I mean, there was Martyr Logarius...
Ranni: “Stop beating up my dementia ridden mother! She used to be cool okay????!”
I like to imagine while your beating or getting beat up by the illusion, Ranni is just rifling through Renalla’s pockets for her remembrance and Elden rune so she can throw them at you once you win.
Now that you put it this way, I feel *really* bad for her.
the poor lady is going through SERIOUS post divorce depression. I mean, just look at her sweatpants…
I love how Ranni still cares enough to save her mother.
This is such a mesmerizing boss fight...Rennala is the Dancer of Elden Ring, as far as I'm concerned. For me, it's these slower, calmer, almost tranquil boss encounters that truly leave an impression never forgotten. The Dancer from DS3, and Rom from Bloodborne are 2 others that gave me a fight I'll never forget.
the deer boss fights were also beautifully made
Dancer with a mix of Deacons
Lol what? Dancer gets clearly frustrated and upset and becomes very fast and aggressive, not slow and tranquil dumbass
tranquil until she summons an entire dragon
going by the cut content of DS3, rosaria was intended as a similar boss fight to rennala (the music that would play at the bed chamber bonfire resembles Rennala's boss theme) and the old monk.
I just Love how Rennala backstory Is that She is A grieving Mommy lamenting On the Lost of Her daughter And husband But what Saddened me MOST In the Second boss Fight you Hear ranni Voice saying
Upon my name as Ranni the Witch.
Mother's rich slumber shall not be disturbed by thee.
Foul trespasser.
Send word far and wide.
Of the last Queen of Caria, Rennala of the Full Moon.
And the majesty of the night she conjureth.)
Rennala's 2nd phase is crafted by Ranni, possibly through her memory, and so Rennala's parting line saying "Sweet little Ranni", like it's that precious memory of her sane mother that Ranni embedded into the moon clone Phase 2 is not Rennala. It's an illusion conjured by Ranni the Witch to protect her mother.
I think the Rennala we walk in on and interact with is a spirit ash. Ranni does give us the the ability to use spirit ashes. And her Phase 2. That whole animation is EXACTLY what a spirit ash does. Plus Ranni says "you will not disturb my mother's slumber" sounds like a dead person to me.
Plus theres only one moon. So yeah.
The second phase is 100% Ranni. We don’t see Rennala’s mouth move when she speaks like we do when she’s crawling towards the egg.
Wah, that just blew my mind. o_o
First try: Figured out how to make her vulnerable too late, but fully understood what to do next time.
Second try: Beat her first phase, but used too many flasks while hunting the right targets to survive. Made it halfway through the second phase and died to the one wolf I didn't kill.
Third try: Finished first phase much faster, but misjudged when I should roll to avoid the laser beam.
Fourth try: Got halfway through the second phase and- *WHY DOES SHE HAVE A DRAGON NOW?!!!!!!*
Facts
I think you should seriously consider getting gud.
1st phase: lmfao she easy af.
2nd phase: OOOOHHHHHHHHHHHHH SHHIIIIIITT
@@RestlessTheRED In exchange, you will seriously consider learning the difference between surprised reactions and complaints about difficulty.
Dude mine summon dragon and a giant in the same time while beaming me herself D: I was freaked out
This is art. The highlight for me is the panic of first attempt before you notice the mechanic. You're just surrounded with all the creepy singing and chaos. Then the contrasting serenity of the 2nd phase. *Chef's kiss*
i just got to this fight and when i saw the transformation cut scene i was speechless, in front of the fucking moon!!!
This boss just keeps dropping chandeliers on my damn head 💀
Just beat her today, what a beautiful boss, this whole fight had me in awe, honestly wish she was harder so I could’ve fought her more
Just fight her in ng+
First phase makes me uneasy. The singing and the laughing makes me not wanna hit them ;(
Big same, when i beat her i was like, that's it? I wanna see this fight more
I beat her after nearly 3 hrs, I personally had my fill of getting one shot by her Glintstone pebbles and Comets, and Dragons
@@TheRealFredbearPlush idk about you but they seemed annoying so I killed them without regret
Where everything else in this game scares me out of grotesque, this boss is terrifying just in its majesty and beauty alone. So fucking good.
No matter how lackluster some of the dungeons and open world bosses are, the main bosses always deliver. Not the most challenging fight, but one of the best lore bosses I have ever seen.
This is the boss that made me fall in love with the game. Not the most difficult but the mechanics, lore and music just was awesome.
Edit: idk how I was able to take her down so easily. Started a new character and it took me like 7-10 to beat her. Still enjoyed the fight though
Are you insane?
This boss makes me want to fucking throw my pc out of the window
@@droh6260 Maybe I have a good build but it wasn’t very difficult for my mage build. The only difficulty was getting how to burst her bubble once I figured it out it was quite easy. Godfrey the grafted took me HOURS.
@@MelancholicAwesomnes they mean boss #2 which I agree with I think the dragon summon and stuff sucked dick
@@Slyyam123 I killed her before she could do a ridiculously powerful summon
I managed to kill her after using the wolves summon. Prior to that I died atleast 12 times lol but we move
Loved this boss but my strength build obliterated her. Academy of Raya Lucaria has to be one of the most gorgeous locations Fromsoft has made.
EDIT: just finished the game. 64hrs. Strength is the way! Except the Godskin duo i didn't have any trouble at all lol. Had to use the mimic tear for the Godskin duo. I think I have some side bosses left and will soon pay them a visit hehe.
Tbh Strength builds fall apart quickly as the game goes on. If you can’t stagger a boss, then you’ll be out poised and killed

Pretty much all of the stuff she does aside from the moon bomb is something INT players can do but scaled up and made more fancy. She even summons, which was intended for mage players to upgrade and use throughout the game.
@@bloodyidit4506 im pretty sure you can do her moon thingy too
@@meh7608 Requires 70 INT. Yikes.
I like how she’s not incredibly hard to beat, yet still insanely difficult because she has so many options to zone you out. The real fight isn’t killing her, it’s waiting for your turn so you can do damage
Miyazaki wants you to be afraid of schools, as you should
When I first heard her say, "send word, far and wide," my heart rate increased dramatically. I knew I was in for such a ride. Such a haunting and tense fight. Absolutely love it!
Once of the most creative boss fights i've ever experienced, it wasnt difficult but just so immersive with the music and animation. Fromsoftware really have achieved greatness with this game
Non Bloodborne Players: Oh, cool!
Bloodborne Players: *Arachnophobia intensifies*
Side note: I still fucking hate Vacuous Spider Rom! She can suck my dick & shove her arcane spells where the sun don’t shine!
I feel like this falls more under a Deacons of the Deep sorta thing, but yeah, ROM totally fits as well.
This game has huge Dark Souls meets Bloodborne vibes. All the side dugeons reminds me of the chalice dungeons from Bloodborne and this fight reminds me of Deacons from Dark Souls 3 meets ROM the spider in phase 2. Love it!!
No blood moon though
I want someone to upload the OST with the little ones singing!
Bro pls tell me you found the ost of this… so fucking awesome
I’m stuck on this boss but this is just simply incredible, easy 10/10 boss.
It looks beautiful, but gameplay wise it's average at best.
@@Werkvuur I agree, the boss fight was really cinematic but gameplay wise eh, mediocre at best
A little tip charge her as soon as you walk in for some free hits then try and stay close to her especially when she starts summoning you can get some good hits in

Ranni has an amazing voice
In terms of visuals, easily my favorite boss in the game, especially the way she posed with the moon behind her was absolute badass. Not the most challenging boss fight to figure out or deal with though, especially with summons, but still very nice.
It's crazy how people say that but KH3 literally did it first with the skybox and boss area. It doesn't even look that good.
*IT IS A COOL BOSS
@@isaiah1927 But KH doesn't have much else going for it, so people obviously will praise it more in an overally much better game.
This was one of te only bosses that i didnt rage at when i died simply at how incredible it was
When I beat her first phase, I actually said “Easiest Boss Ever” out loud
how was the second phase after that?
I went around killing the Sweetlings and somehow completely missed each of the singing ones. I tried shooting at her and was so confused when that didn't work. For some reason, I couldn't see her shield on my first run. Decimated her 2nd phase easily once I finally figured her first phase out before she could make her first Spirit Call.
That’s a bug which happens when you fight against her for the first time with a coop summon
What a beautiful and haunting boss fight. The moment I saw her intro in the leaked trailer, I knew the boss would be amazing.
A better version of the deacons of the deep
I knew the 1st phase was a lie, my dark souls instinct didn’t believe i won so easily.
THIS is what Radagon fell in love with.

Needs to come back to xbox and playstation? Sure i agree.

She may not have given me as much trouble as margit and godrick did but that was a nice fight. At first I was confused that she went down so easily but then the second phase started and that arena was drop dead gorgeous. Plus the music complemented it perfectly, easily one of my favorite bosses so far
So I’m the only who finds her way harder than godrick and margit!?
@@luvcraftian yeah I literally cannot beat her probably on try 20+ now, the second phase just keeps hitting me with different attacks
@@MaadCheek if you’re still stuck, use Spirit Wolves, they help keep her stunned and keep pressure on her when she summons her own spirits
Margit was easy as pie, Godrick however, was another story. At least for me anyway.
After that deranged fool, Godrick, this feels so relaxing and beautiful.
Definitely not the most difficult boss in the game, but I still think it's one of the best in the game. This fight was just such an epic spectacle from start to finish.
Definitely didn’t take me 20-30 tries because she kept summoning a dragon when she was a three hit
@@luvcraftian She definitely heavily punishes panicking but the dragon is pretty easy to wait out. It will only ever do the fire breath and crash and then despawn.
Maybe I was overleveled, but once I understood the mechanic of the first phase, it and the second phase were beaten on my next attempt.
She's a sorcerer through and through, so I simply run right up her face and spammed R1, she couldn't do anything outside of trying to teleport away. And even after she started summoning her own helpers, I simply run past them to wreck her.
It's a very risky approach, that relies on VIT builds that I prefer, but it allowed me to shrug off her spam and kill her quickly.
The music alone takes the cake for the 2nd phase! Love this boss fight !
That first cutscene was soooo much nope! Love this fight
The second phase is gorgeous. I absolutely love this game
This boss really shines when she has more than one summon out at a time. It really gets the point across that she’s a powerful sorcerer when all of these creatures are attacking you alongside her spells. It would’ve been neat if she was constantly creating these summons, but maybe they attacked a little less often as to not be too overwhelming.
Im not a player of this game but ive been watching a number of these boss fights. Curious what are the unique qualities of each character used if there is even any. All im seeing are the same close-ranged sword combos used
This has some Silent Hill vibes on it.
Wish she was harder, but this is by far the coolest transition I've seen in a video game. Never played a game that's WOW'd me so much.
This was an amazing fight. Visuals stunning.
This whole area is seriously just evil Hogwarts
Thats one mesmerizing witch. Interesting visuals.
By far my favorite boss fight. What a masterpiece.
The intro to the first phase with the crawling scholars is so fucking creepy it gave me heebies-jeebies the first time I saw it
What message did you leave and where did you place it to have it appraised 3 times in two minutes?
If they can make a fight this beautiful it makes me wonder why in the world From doesn't remake Dark Souls. Imagine the Four Kings or Sif with this level of polish and glimmer.
I'd prefer not to go through the 4 Kings again.
@@thuranz2773 bed of chaos too
This is easy comparing to Dark Souls 1. Teleport everywhere from the beginning I was laughing when I saw this ;)
Where should I go after this I already made it up the lift but I don't know where to go?
The arena reminds me of battle with Rom in Bloodborne, but this one takes the cake because we can see how beautiful the moon is. I wish we could go visit this boss arena again like how we can visit Rom's, lie down on the water, and enjoy the full moon.
The difficultly of this boss was the path u had to travel to get to her
When I saw the mini versions of Rennala crawling on the floor without any legs I genuinely gasped.
I keep crashing before the transition cutscene even begins. What's going on? :(
The real boss is the knight who guards the entrance
Amazing boss, the first phase is cake so just run around and kill the glowing ladies, but the 2nd phase has a trick. Dont roll, just sprint counter clockwise around her for basically all her attacks. Summons help a ton too, and are frankly fair game for you tryhards because shes summoning dragons and giants. Stick with heavy hits since you only get 2 attacks before she teleports.
Most of all, tackle this lvl 40+. Shes tough and if you dont have decent health shes going to one shot you with most attacks. Good luck, look me like 7 to 10 tries, shes tough.
Took me 4 tries, used a combination of running jump attacks, heavy charged attacks, and skeleton militia to eventually get her.
I just kept interrupting her attacks with the katana. Stopped her from teleporting
Blood splash is very effective on her
My PC can't handle the game at high graphic settings, so I play on low, and never really stopped to just appreciate the details. But look at that level of detail man. Her god damn moon makes a circle of waves as it moves to get you.
I tell you, with these graphics, the gameplay, the story, it's gonna be hard for other games to take away GOTY from Elden Ring.
"upon my name as Ranni the witch"
fucking goosbumps yo
How to open chest after killing her
I fought Her more than 20 times to realize how his first Phase worked, and when I finally saw her 2nd Phase, Defeated in one Chance, didnt apreciated it so well, just instantly amazed by the visuals.
0:16- I can't help but start laughing like hell when she looks up, and the player looking crazy with that helmet and everything.. LOL
The summoning icon doesn’t show up for me and it won’t let me summon
I like that no matter which Elden ring video I watch, the character has a katana in hand.
Imo one of the most beautiful boss fights of all time. The lore, visuals and music are so so beautiful!
I love the second phase, the area is just gorgeous but I obliterated her with my STR build, I even tanked her lasers 😂
I’d like to know why the target doesn’t show up sometimes? is there a way to activate it or does the boss just not work at times?
You have to scour the entire grand library in order to find the one singing. Either that, or it’s a bug in the game that should be patched up.
Me at first: "Great, another gimmick boss... Shouldn't be too hard at least. "
Me during second phase: "Is she shooting a fucking moon at me?! Why is there a dragon???!?"
My game is glitched and can’t see the singing girls and she doesn’t have the shield around her
Extremely beautiful. This is why I love the Souls series, it has a lot of dark stuff in it but then we also have Seath's Crystal Cave, Irithyll, Shrine of Amana (despair inducing, but beautiful), Raya Lucaria and this boss fight...
This boss glitched for anyone rn or just me??? Can't seem to find the glowing witches anywhere on the ground. Done it multiple times already and still nothing, am I doing something wrong???
Happened to me too
6:00 my heart was pumping FOR him
There's some things about the lore i don't rlly understant : when going to phase two we hear Ranni talking. Did she protectr her mother , is she the one that allowed Renalla and the player to transport into her realm ? Or do we actually fight Ranni morphed as Renalla ? And why does she become nice after that lmao.
Ranni is basically Rennala’s daughter (that much you’re correct on), and while she does see you as sort of a trespasser, you would also meet her at the Church of Ellah (I think that’s how it’s spelled) where she gives you wolf ash summons. In some ways, I feel that Ranni only tried to do what was right in keeping you from harming her mother. Even before marrying Ranni, after the fight with Rennala, neither of them no longer see you as a threat. Rennala doesn’t care about you simply because her purpose is to respec your stats/grant you rebirth, and Ranni doesn’t care about you because she has her duties & you’re doing her a favour, making sure the Age of the Stars comes into fruition. Both Rennala & Ranni only see you as someone they’d be willing to help out no matter what.
My first story related boss in Elden Ring. Definitely not disappointed
this was incredible! i do want to ask as i haven't found an answer yet, does killing her lock you out of the ranni ending?
If you defeat her you get her great rune but you don’t actually kill her
Magic is just so fucking broken in this game I swear. Its got auto track, on hit stagger, multiples at once, and massive damage.
but u have to stand still manage ur fp and after a long span of casting, oops, u also cant run cuz out of stamina, imagine casting uses stamia too
They need to nerf it for both players and enemies. It’s extremely unbalanced and just completely removes any actual viability for melee runs compared to it.
Just git gud bro
Just run lol
Skill gap honestly
When I first fought her I was WAY too over levelled and ended up making quick work of her in her second phase before she could even summon any enemies. It actually makes me sad that I wasn’t able to fully admire this fight as much as I probably should have. Hopefully it’ll be different on my next playthrough.
During the 2nd phase, I was so confused why Ranni was talking I thought I was gonna be fighting a Renala clone. Turns out it was a message from the ghost mage who gave me the Summon Bell.
Such a shame we can't revisit this boss arena after fighting Rennala. Utterly breathtaking.
I've beaten the game three times now over 2 separate characters and she's still my favorite boss in the game
I love the way she says 'Rennala of the full moo'
As a souls kid, this game just keeps amazing me. I played Dark souls online, but this game I’m doing all on my own!
SHES SO COOL PHASE 2 I wasn’t expecting at all 💀
Ranni swooping in to save her mother is the best part.
What a beautiful fight.
Gave me all the Bloodborne feels.
My meandering ass got to her way too overlevelled so the fight was a cakewalk, but the creepiness and visuals are top tier.
Hush little Culver 🌀
Anyone know what summon they used there
Wtf....what strength level were you a d what sword was that....dealing hell damage
Beat her but didn’t drop rune what do I do
I think I might be too low level for this fight. I was having troubles with it so I came here and saw you were doing so much more damage than me. I've been having to melee which usually I don't since I'm a mage but she has strong resistance to magic. You guys have any tips on what to do to get more damage?
Use spells like rock sling that do physical damage.
I used the hookclaws. Their base damage wasn't great, but the 60 bleed build up helped a ton. Combine that with the lone wolf ashes and she didn't even get to summon against me.
Best piece of advice I’ve got is try to go for a dex/int build. They complement each other very well as you get the use of some handy weapons as well as increasing your casting speed with dex. Go to the Gael tunnel, a dungeon in Caelid and fight the magma wyrm. Can be a bit tricky but just time your dodges, maintain distance while chipping at its health with magic and it shouldn’t be too long till you beat it. Then you get the moon veil Katana which is an amazing weapon with a natural int scaling and a solid sword art. Upgrade that with somber smithing stones and it does a good amount of damage to her. Plus it applies bleed so getting bleed procs is crazy with it.
@@gandalfop8621 thanks I was looking for a better weapon!
@@josephdervan4680 oh I didn't realize that was physical I'll try that out
"Upon my name as Ranni the Witch" gave me chills bro🥶
What level is your katana?
Later on, I realized that's how ranni looked like when she was young. Best lore yet from FS.
Where do I have to go after this fight?
Far to the north, to the Altus Plateau. You need to take the lift which requires two fragments so either find both or scour the north for a secret back entrance to the plateau. You can also go participate in Radahn's festival in Caelid. It's a lot of fun.
Her magic is just beautiful
“Hush, little culvert. I’ll soon birth thee anew… a sweeting fresh and pure.”
Somehow beat her on my first attempt with my level 51 samurai. I'm amazed that I was able to keep my cool and dance around her summons.
