Tash, you are hilarious! Your face when you tried the hickory sticks was priceless! They are an acquired taste, but either you love them or hate them, no middle ground. They're one of my four basic food groups, lol! On the other hand, I'm with you 100% on the all-dressed Ruffles. If I was told that they were the last chips on Earth, I'd demand a recount. I'm a huge caramel, peanut and chocolate fan too. Do you have chocolate-covered potato chips in Australia? Now THOSE are perfection, especially the ripple-cut. BTW, your son is a natural. You two are perfect together. And Mace is beautiful. I love a dog with light-coloured eyes. Cheers!

I luv them. It has the same smoked flavour as the fish my next door neighbour used to smoke.
I used to help my neighbour split and stack the wood he used in the smoker. ( he didn’t have kids till very late in life).
In return, he would provide us with smoked fish and sometimes moose meat.

As to whether this is the origin or not I can not say. However, a long time ago when I was even younger than Brice.
We use to have Hostess chips. Or at least they were the leading brand until Ruffles/Lays came along.
Anyway. Every once in awhile we use to get one chip. Just one. Usually quite small. That you can tell had somehow been exposed to every flavour they had made in the plant. My cousin and I use to look for it like it was lost treasure.
Years later. They came out with All dressed chips.
As for the Thrills gum. I think you are the first person on UA-cam who has ever liked it.
In North America a majority of soap is scented with Rose Water / Lavender. Which is how the gum typically tastes ti most people.
So in Canada. Very much is the gum that tastes like soap.
You should try some Ketchup chips if you ever get the chance. You may want to try some Rockets as well which are called Smarties in the States.
Interesting enough we have a candy in Canada called Smarties.

Thrills were popular because they were CHEAP! They were about half the price of other brands of gum you could buy at the variety store. At the time, I believe, you got 15 pieces for ten cents. It's hard to remember though, it was almost 50 years ago.

Missing from this snack package: ketchup chips, Hawkins Cheezies, Aero bar, Smarties (originally from the UK, ours are slightly different), MacIntosh toffee, Mr. Big bar. A Nanaimo bar kit that you can prepare those bars from would be nice of someone to send. Plus a jug of maple syrup and other real maple products. If you love the maple creme cookies, maybe you could arrange for a viewer to ship you more cookies, perhaps a selection of different brands, for comparison.

by the way. Pineapple on ham pizza, the 'Hawaiian ', a Canadian invention spurs much debate here. Many people are loudly outraged by fruit on pizza. The wood at one point was going endangered due to habitat loss and climate...don't see alot of it even now in the wild. Most when using it mix it with other woods.

The thing to do with the Skor bars, is to smash them up and sprinkle over a plate spread with cream cheese with a layer of caramel spread, then to cut up your favourite apple into slices and use the apple to scoop up the Skor dip. Good combo. Coffee Crisp is probably the best selling chocolate bar in Canada, and their famous slogan is "How do you like your coffee?" to which the answer is "Crisp!" ha ha ha. I am surprised you like the Thrills as most Canadians do not, in my experience. I think they taste like potpourri smells, but they are found everywhere. Cadbury, is probably the best chocolate brand in Canada, but Nestle, is probably a close second. The All Dressed chips are very popular here, but they should have sent you some Ketchup chips, or Ketchup Doritos, which are also a very Canadian thing, and the best flavour of chip alongside Dill pickle in my opinion. Glad you like our Canadian snacks. I enjoyed your video, cheers.

The way that Thrills gum tastes depends a lot on what types of taste receptors you have. To me it takes like soap, as does cilantro. I also find cruciferous vegetables (broccoli, cauliflower, kale, bok choy, collard greens, Brussells sprouts, and any other form of cabbage) taste very bitter.

Coffee Crisp & Wunderbar are amazing. I haven't had Thrills in probably 40 years, they used to lose their flavour way too fast. I've never been a fan of all dressed chips. Too much going on for my taste.

I still love Thrill’s gum & I’m 68 years old & have loved them since I was a teenager at least & Coffee Crisp is my favourite chocolate bar & I also love Mr Big which was my favourite in high school😂 All dressed chips are a little strong for me, but Hickory Sticks are good as long as you don’t eat too many at once & they do take time to get used too😁

Was not expecting that reaction to the Thrills gum, I love it and it reminds me of my dad as he always used to give us that gum when we were young and it'll always stick with me. I never imagined the Crunchie to exist anywhere else but I guess it's still rare enough for us to think it isn't available elsewhere. Oh and I don't blame you for making quick work of those maple cookies, they're so good!

My favorite Coffee Crisp TV ad featured two old ladies of seemingly Eastern European descent (based on the accents), as they are sitting down playing cards and shooting the breeze... and the host asks,
    So...?"
    "So?"
"...How do you like your coffee?"
    "Crisp..."
"You like your coffee _CRISP?!"_ , the first lady says, with a puzzled look.
"Yes, I like my Coffee Crisp!", she exclaimed, while raising the candy-bar to show her friend what she's talking about.
"Ah! ...I'm supposed to laugh, now? Oye, ...you don't know from Jokes!" (or something like that...)
... it was very cute! ;-]

WHERE ARE THE KETCHUP CHIPS?? lol.
I’m surprised they didn’t send you ‘ketchup’ chips. You definitely need to try those. Also, we have these maple flavoured sugar candies (kind of have the consistency of a hard fudge). They aren’t as popular in regular corner (convenience) stores, but most supermarkets and every tourist store has them. Since you liked the cookies, you most likely will like them (they are very sweet too).
    Cheers!

Hello Tash greetings to you and your family glad you enjoyed the snacks from Canada ! i was curious about how you would like the hickory stix and the ruffles they are an acquired taste and judging from the look on your face you havent acquired that taste no worries though either have i. The maple cookies dont last long around our place either especially when our son drops by and finds them as far as the candy bars go coffee crisp is my favorite also but the rest not a huge fan when our kids were small they would have piles of candy bars from halloween . Glad you enjoyed snacks from Canada so from your fans in Alberta take care and stay safe. Oh by the way i seen a rock formation in Australia called the Devils Marbles do you know about these?
