At the beginning of time when all was in darkness, the gods gathered in Teotihuacan. Around a great fire they made sacrifices of themselves and in making these sacrifices they created a new cosmic era. To mark this moment of creation, Teotihuacanos conduct the New Fire Ceremony at the base of the Sun Pyramid. Find full episodes of Native America at to.pbs.org/2Dd...

Aw yeah, Teotihuacan!
One of my favorite pre Columbian societies!
Te C-Jones Hello! I was wondering if you would be open to using a more progressive/less offensive term than pre-Columbian. Myself and other native people have been using pre-contact/pre-conquest/pre-Hispanic. Thank you!
@@torieodain pre-Columbian is the official term used by most scholars, but pre-contact and other terms like the ones you give can also be used, so I'll refer to it as Pre-Colonial.
A very interesting and well made video.👏
Thank you🔥
I've been watching you PBS since I was a little boy, 50 years later your one of the few channels I still enjoy and believe in. Thanks for sharing this cool story my favorite thing in the world is to build fires in my fire pit and watch them burn. I must be crazy
You forgot to mention the fact that they literally tore the heart out of a person who was marked as a sacrifice and then they started the fire INSIDE the cavity where the person's heart had been.
LOL
😆😆🤣😂
One circle of life.....😉
Human sacrifices
Not as massive as western created genocides in the modern era such as the nazi holocaust, the colonization of Africa and Asia and support of genocidal military dictatorships and massive wars such as World War I and II. As such western societies have not been examples of civilization either
It's probably missionary propaganda.
@@mayaram2411 it is propaganda
😆🤣😂
